Went for our birthday, lunchtime meal, couldn't have been better looked after by Lyn, unexpected glass of fizz and candles in the dessert. Food was very good and I can recommend the three small desserts on the menu. Would definitely visit again.

Decided to go back to a childhood pub where my parents took me and a friend is the chef. Absolutely fantastic lunch. We decided to have a nice Harvey's bittershandy and both decided to have the steak and kidney pie with kale. It was absolutely delicious. Remind me of my past and when I first started out in catering The waitresses the lady behind the bar they will very friendly and the service was 100% and more. The food was more than 100% and I so recommend that anyone try this restaurant and pub. I'd like to go back and try their roast in it on a Sunday, but best to book up. If you want to go on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday evening or day best to book. You can find this pub online by googling it. I hope this helps and that anybody goes really enjoys it and leaves a review because the food is amazing and so was the service. Thank you Dorsey Arms for making my day so special

Stumbled in here midweek after a long walk in the surrounding beautiful countryside. Cannot fault the quality of the food although the vegetarian in our party of 4 did find the selection a bit limited. Beer was equally good! Service missed getting five stars as our food order was slow to be taken. Staff friendly and helpful so I am perhaps being a bit pernickety! Overall though I would recommend and we will be back.

Just returned from a meal out at The Dorset Arms and have to say the food was absolutely fantastic. We are visiting the area for a couple of days and we're so pleased to have chosen here to eat. The food was some of the best we have eaten (and we like to eat out alot). We had the scotch egg to start, followed by the duck and the pork belly which were both outstanding. Finally, we indulged in the apple and pear crumble tart and the baked cheesecake with spiced plums which were also delicious. I never leave reviews but just had to for here as it was so worth it. The service was also brilliant and they were all very humble. Highly recommended *****

Stayed there for a night. The cottage/inn was quaint and cosy. Loved the quiet countryside with all nice smiles from the staffs. Had a 3 hour walk at the old railway not far from the inn.

My sis and I went for dinner here the other night, we have been before several times some years ago, and decided to go again. I was extremely happy with the service, very friendly and fast. The Manager was very helpful too. I had the fish and chips and it was delightful! The pea mash that came with it was the most heavenly thing I've eaten in a long time, I wish there was more of it! The vanilla cheesecake afterwards with berry compote was just exquisite, one of the best cheesecakes I have had. I will be coming back again for sure.

It was a pleasure to stop and have a few drinks at the Dorset Arms. An elderly Chap was very quick to assist in opening the door in order for me to carry out my drinks. I asked about the pub and he was able to give me lots of knowledge of the area and the pub. Such characters are few and far between now days...wonderful old fellow. We'll certainly look forward to going back for meal and hopefully here more about this wonderful pub.

Wonderful pub in a lovely setting. The main dining area is comfortable but refined, and there is a large garden behind. The food is good quality with a broad selection of modern British bistro dishes alongside classics, at a fair price. The staff are friendly and professional.

Nothing short of superb! We arrived not expecting anything more than average, but then to be blown away with excellent food and very endearing service. A big thanks from us for such a lovely evening

Went with extended family for lunch, we had pre booked the table in advance. The service was excellent, a nice traditional style English pub with open fireplace. The food arrived in a timely manner and was to a good standard. Good choice of food on the menu.

Lovely country pub! Great atmosphere for a quiet dinner. Food was absolutely everything we could have asked for. The staff were friendly and super accommodating. We had the Scotch egg to start and the Crab dish. Both were great. Those Scotch eggs!! The sausage meat around the Scotch egg was divine and very reminiscent of the butcher Arthur Fry’s classic local sausages (East Grinstead) - so rich and flavourful. Turns out they’re local a Buckhurst sausage recipe (there’s little bits of local info in the menus and on the tables). For mains we both had the rib eye steak which was absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked and clearly the meat was of high quality. The weather meant we couldn’t make the most of the beer garden but it looked great. Recommend booking as it seems like they may get busy on peak nights.

The Dorset Arms is a truly lovely place to stay. The room we stayed in was in the Old School House behind the Pub. It was a very comfortable room with and extremely comfortable bed. The bathroom is big and has both a long bath and a walk in shower. There are toiletries, tea and coffee making facilities, hair dryer and TV as you would expect, but there are also bath robes and a landline for use free as long as you are not calling abroad. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the linen and towels sparkling white. Thank you to Sue for the beautiful housekeeping. The view from the room is the one in the photo. so quiet and so tranquil. All we could hear were the cows and the pheasants! The food at the pub is worthy of a top restaurant. I had soup both nights which was honestly the best I have had out. I had duck one night and lobster the other. Both excellent, the duck particularly was wonderful. My husband had the homemade steak and kidney pie which was a proper real pie - not just a lid, with excellent shortcrust pastry. The following night he had the fish and chips which was good too. And to the staff. They are really what top off this place as somewhere you would want to return to. Lisa who greeted us and was there for most of our stay, is so helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Amelia and Justin and the girls (sorry girls, we did not get your names) were fabulous at customer service. They were attentive without being intrusive and friendly without being over familiar. They were knowledgeable about the food and wines and served in such a way as to make the dining experience an unhurried and thoroughly enjoyable affair. A mention must also go to Brian, who was all of these things as well as being really funny and entertaining. A big shout out must also go to the locals in the area who are so very friendly to us visitors. and a special hello to Alan, a nonagenarian who had worked on the estate for 70 years and had loads of interesting stories to tell. We will definitely be going back - if only to try the Cote de Boeuf!!!

Great gastropub in the middle of some beautiful English countryside. We booked a place here so we could call in halfway along the Forest Way, an abandoned railway line turned country walk. It was a small detour from the walk so no problems getting there. We sat in the rear garden along with our dog to enjoy the view. Staff were very friendly and had is seated promptly and provided menus and took drinks. The food was extremely good, worthy of some fine dining restaurants, absolutely no complaints. We ordered the half lobster, royal fish and chips both of which were cooked to perfection, along with the prawn cocktail for starters and finished off with some made on premises orange ice-cream. Great meal out! Thank you to the Dorset Arms for a great meal

What a beautiful, quintessential English pub/restaurant set deep in the countryside. The school house was perfect for a weekend getaway with incredible views and very comfortable beds. The food at The Dorset Arms is just delicious, and the atmosphere so friendly and welcoming. I will be back soon...

Nice place located near several footpaths with friendly staff and delicious pub food. We had burger and venison pie and a cheese board. Really nice.
