We had a private birthday party in the ‘snug’ last night with around 30 people - I cannot say enough how grateful I am to all the lovely staff and land lord for making the night so enjoyable and easy for us! Nothing was too much trouble from start to finish. We had fantastic mixed platters which were enjoyed by all. Highly highly highly recommend this venue if your looking to have a party. Huge thanks once again to all the staff - you guys were awesome!!! �
We had lunch there several times and never been disappointed, the quality of the food is high and the staff are all friendly. Mr Hayward quite a character, we had a very interesting (and entertaining) Sunday lunch there which was brilliant and his knowledge of wines was second to none. Definitely worth a visit.
Wasn't sure where to go to celebrate friends 50th & was recommended this place. What a gem we had a wonderful evening, staff friendly, tentative & gave a first class service! The menu had a good amount to choose from & was very tasty. The ambience and decor of the pub was good. All in all a great evening & will be going back again. Thank you!

Interesting place with all sorts of sport memorabilia on the walls. Had the fish and chips and was excellent. Only downside was we had ordered garlic bread which they forgot and we actually got it when we had finished our meal! It was nice though
We had a wonderful evening last night. Our first visit, but certainly not our last. What a fantastic gem. Wonderful ambience and friendly professional staff who couldn't have been better. The food was delicious. Can't wait to come back.

Very good food and service in a pleasant atmosphere. The staff are not only friendly but they are quietly professional and everything flows like clockwork. They are a credit to the establishment. Highly recommended
Cosy and welcoming country pub. We had a delicious lunch there today, including the seafood surfboard and halibut. A really lovely menu, catered well for veg/gluten free and staff were nice. Enjoyed the atmosphere and comfortable setting, would definitely return and also noted the great outdoor space for sunny days.
Having driven past this place for years, intending to go in but never quite making it we finally found ourselves in the area around lunchtime and took the plunge! So glad we did, this is a real gem with beautiful surroundings inside and out, lots of seating options, fab food and excellent service. After an initial mix up over the decaf coffee ( very professionally dealt with at all levels) we went on to have a lovely meal, the burgers were exceptional and dessert was pretty good too. Very pleasant informal dining and the outside areas are quite spectacular. Will definitely be back!
Welcome from Lisa and Bruno was fabulous 👌.. shame they're going on somewhere else.. Last year we stayed and had a really poor Sunday lunch .. This year the pub was brilliant 👏 Our food was perfect . Jess, our server was so attentive . I would highly recommend the roast beef .. done to perfection. Great place to stay and great place to eat.. Well done 👏
A country pub with a great reputation and this reputation is well-deserved. As one of a dozen aging bikers we rolled in to the car park and were greeted warmly in the bar - ordered drinks and some food and settled into a nice spot in the front garden. A very relaxing time in quality surroundings.

Lovely pub with great grounds- really busy Sunday so service a bit slow, but staff very helpful and happily helped us get a table as a family walk-in. Roasts were a good size with some excellent veggies, but meat and Yorkshire puds could have been better. Definitely worth a visit, and we will be coming back soon
Lovely campsite, fairly small and quiet. Not really one for activities and ball games but on the site of a fantastic pub that serves genuinely amazing food. Lisa was on site during the day and was unbelievably helpful from pre-booking (big group split over two days), help during the day of the joust, all the way through to a lovely chat at the end of our stay. Above and beyond service personified.

You're between a rock and a hard place between a very easygoing management, and checked out teen waiters. Don't hesitate to get up and go ask if they've unfrozen your fish and chips yet if it's lunchtime on a Friday.

A group from our company visited for a team celebration lunch on a day off, and received fantastic service. The food was brilliant, and those working at the pub were all excellent - efficient and caring hosts.
The pub is in a great location with ample parking, and is beautifully decorated and looked after.
We were recommended this restaurant by our Airbnb. The food was fantastic, we had lovely starters and then we got the fish special which was huge! A special mention to our waiter, Harry, who was incredibly attentive and made great suggestions throughout the evening. Wish we lived closer so we could visit more regularly!
Absolutely gorgeous shepherd's hut. This is one of my favourite pubs and we had the pleasure of staying for my fiance's birthday. The hand delivered continental breakfast was a winning touch. Only things to improve: additional water in rooms and perhaps add a little bin to the room
We stopped and met friends here for a Sunday lunch! We were a large table and were looked after very well by the staff who were friendly and attentive. The food was great and we are looking forward to returning.
Good pub, great food, nice atmosphere.
There are options available for those on vegetarian and vegan diets too… (although the latter is not always available as a roast dinner, so always check before going on a Sunday if Vegan roasts are your thing). When the plant-based roast is an option though, it is BRILLIANT. As are the other menu choices too, of course.
Service is sometimes slow (I’ve recently experienced over an hour wait for food) during busy periods, hence this review is 4 stars, not 5.
On the whole, great place to visit with family/friends.
Brilliant, fantastic county pub. Has everything you would need expect. Great atmosphere. outdoor seating, fire pits, great beer, food is brilliant, overall really great vibe. Definitely worth a visit if in the area.
Been here a few times and it's always good, but the food last night was absolutely the best dinner I have ever had in a pub. Sale selection reasonable, staff friendly and helpful.
We recently held a family re-union for 45 people at the Bat & Ball Their partially covered outside facility with its own bar was perfect. The food was exceptional as were the staff. Caroline the owner was great to work with and very accommodating. I would highly recommend this venue for any gathering you are planning.
