Beautiful pub in the centre of the Town, dog friendly in snug bar and the outside garden. A good variety of drinks, and a good food menu, which caters for vegetarian and vegans. The service was excellent and staff helpful and friendly. Definitely worth a visit.
I had a lovely meal there today I would recommend, staff attentive and very polite nothing was too much trouble would definitely go again
Wonderful Ploughmans for lunch today outside in the beautiful sunshine. A delicious range of cheeses, pork pie and ham served with artisan bread, a wonderful onion relish and cocktail pickled onions. Beautifully presented and totally delicious. It is a sharing platter and would easily feed two very hungry people, and probably three not so hungry. The butternut squash soup was great yesterday too. Love the refurb and really enjoy the relaxed atmosphere with your lovely, helpful staff.
Lovely few hours in the refurbished Hope & Anchor yesterday afternoon. Still very much WIP and the very nice rustic/distressed look and feel works well. Restaurant in the back room coming soon too.
No T.V just great Jazz/Swing music, good beer, good company and good conversation. Nice to see the place open again.
Had the tandoori cod burger it was beautiful. Children’s portions are a genourous size as well. Brilliant service as well.
Excellent food, and the range of lagers is great. Can’t believe how much the pub has changed with the fantastic refurb. Will definitely be returning soon!
Beautifully decorated pub with excellent service and food. I'm looking forward to returning when the sun is out to sample one of the many gins in the beer garden!
Far too happy they have Blue Moon on draft can’t wait to go back again and try the food!
A work trip enabled us to stumble across this lovely pub, the food (We chose a burger and a veg lasagne served with garlic bread & salad) was delicious, piping hot and so very well presented. The decor was lovely and rustic. Will definitely call in again sometime soon.

Great food and very helpful staff.x
Staying overnight at Wirksworth. Hadn’t planned on eating but called in for a drink in evening whilst walking the dog.
Quality of food looked excellent so decided to order. We had the steak & stout pie. PROPER pie fully encased with a good filling (not a dish with a pastry cap!) PROPER fresh cooked fat chips and fresh cooked veg. Excellent and very filling. Freshly cooked and hot.
Choice of 5 hand pulled ales as well into the bargain. Mostly local ones as well.
Came for bottomless brunch. Staff were busy initially but attentive and the speed of drinks picked up after the initial rush. Note - If booking via the website even when on the bottomless brunch page make sure to specify it is bottomless brunch on the note as the staff were unaware of this with our booking and seemed a bit stressed by this, however accommodated us well - the main worry for them was the mezze board which we weren't even aware was something you got on the bottomless brunch so it it was a very pleasant surprise (bread, cheese, meats and olives) and wouldn't have been the end of the world if they hadn't been able to do anyway.
Drinks definitely hit the spot, we'd recomend the pineapple rum cocktail. For food, again we were impressed and pleasantly surprised when another plate of the whitebait came out and our server told us the chef hadn't been happy with the first so sent another! I had been happy with the first so another even better plate (the battering was more even and generous on the second) was an added bonus!
Would definitely recommend, thanks for a great afternoon!

Great food, lovely staff.
Nothing is too much trouble.
And Dog friendly 🐕.
Will be back here again soon xx
Really lovely pub, dog friendly. Relaxed atmosphere, child friendly. Had lovely seating area, along with sofas and had blankets on each table. Nice and quiet when we went in. Service was brilliant. Food was delicious. Chips are lovely, burger was great, burrito was lovely. Also had sharer nachos which we delicious and light. Only down side, the chocolate brownie was definately not a brownie, really disappointed. The hot choc fudge cake was delicious (according to the little one 🙂) cake to approx £80 for 3 drinks, one sharing starter, 3 mains and 3 desserts. One of these was from kids menu.
The staff here are friendly and their service was excellent too. The food was top quality and reasonably priced. Everything was clean and there's a good atmosphere. Dogs are allowed in too, and dogs always make pubs better.
First time booking a table here, good variety on the menu. Ordered Steak pie & chips, didn't disappoint, very tasty meal, quality food. Ordered a pudding of sticky toffee & custard...delicious...Highly recommend xxx
Fabulous food on a cold Sunday afternoon. Special mention for the steak and ale pie that didn't disappoint on the amount of steak. Highly recommend.
Lovely team very welcoming. Made a nice fuss of our husky!
Food was very tasty and hot. Served promptly. All round great experience.
Would highly recommend.
We did try for food but the kitchen had closed (it was about 8:45).
Had a couple of pints instead which were really good, well kept and well poured.
There was a quiz on too, which kept us entertained.
A nice pub to visit.
Great local pub/restaurant. Good food with a wide enough selection to give choice but not so wide it can't possibly have been cooked on the premises. I've been a few times now and the service has anyways been excellent. Dogs are allowed and even provided with water. An all round good experience!
On a long weekend break, and to start it off. I decided to visit a local pub for dinner.
The staff were very friendly, and the food was very good in which I chose the burger. The onions ring were especially impressive, as they were absolutely massive.
Also the selection of non-alcholic drinks avaliable (as a non-drinker myself).
The menu is not terribly large, but there is enough to accommodate for most people.
The cost of the meal was as expected with the current climate, so for me (including two non-alcholic ciders) it came to about £26.
I have to say that I was pleased with the service provided at this pub, and would recommend to others.
Just had a very nice tapas and burger. Some things on the menu were not available but, First class friendly service and super dog friendly. Would highly recommend
Had a great lunch here. Good happy service with lovely staff. Clean, welcoming, place with excellent food for big and smaller people. 🙂
The food was excellently cooked and tasted fabulous 🙂👍 child and dog friendly. Great beer and choice.
