We've been coming to this pub for 20 years and it never fails to deliver. The atmosphere is so welcoming, the dogs always made a fuss of and the food is exceptional. Yes when they are busy (as it has been over Christmas/New Year) the food can take time to come but the staff always explain the waiting time when it is ordered and often it arrives sooner than their conservative estimate. Can't rate it highly enough and hopefully we will continue to enjoy their hospitality for another 20 years.
We have just returned from a fabulous time in Winterton on sea, we visit the fisherman's return regularly and have no reason to complain at all, the welcome and atmosphere is always excellent and the food amazing which has improved lately if that was possible as i believe there is a new chef. Great to see Max back behind the bar. All the barstaff make you feel like a local. It's a shame that not everyone gets this place, if you're looking for a place to relax and enjoy good food and good company then please visit and see for yourself. If you prefer to have cheap pub grub in a soul less pub then please visit Hemsby as this is not the place for you. We highly recommend as usual and will continue to do so.
Had Cajun salmon in tortilla bowl hubby had boozy beef pie. Generous portions. Great dog friendly pub. Friendly staff. Will definitely be back. Food excellent. Highly recommend

Just had an excellent meal for our 29th wedding anniversary we were told on the off chance to try it as you are allowed to take well behaved dogs in. It was a lovely meal i had crab salad and my wife had boozy beef pie and can't fault it the food was well presented and staff were courteous. The portion size was big but with a wide arrangement of veg, sauces and chips i give them the thumbs up and our little westie enjoyed sitting under the table. The pub itself is very charming and nice and clean and just for your reference there is a lovely beach near by which is dog walkers paradise.
come to Norfolk every summer on holiday and this is the best pub there I have been too! The food is top notch here and staff are so friendly! good vibes all round!
Six of us went for a meal this evening .. it was a lovely meal very reasonable priced and we only has a 20min wait for our food all the bar and service staff were friendly and helpful we ate inside and sat outside to have another drink which as it was a lovely warm evening was really pleasant would recommend
We couldn’t have been happier with this lovely pub, extremely friendly and welcoming!! Great pub food and a good pint of Guinness(according to my husband) . Beautiful cosy fire too. The real winner for us was how dog friendly the pub is. Looking forward to visiting the pub and village again. A big thumbs up from us😃
The pub is lovely a nice warm open fire, very dog friendly with lots of dog treats, the staff were very friendly and the food was the best will definitely return.
We had the fish & chips. They was delicious. The batter on the fish was lovely & crispy & I had to eat it all!!!(I hate soggy batter)!! And they love Dogs. Will definitely be back.

Food is superb here and plentiful. We called in yesterday for a late lunch and had the lamb shanks, our son had fish and chips. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food, the service was spot on...very friendly atmosphere and will definitely be returning!
We always make a point of visiting most evenings when we stay because we feel so at home here. We get a lovely welcome. Kids and dogs welcome inside and out. Plenty of room and lovely food. Always piping hot. It's usually a long wait for food but we know that and come a tad earlier than starving. Staff look exhausted by the end of the day. I don't know where they get there energy from. Well done all!

Delightful afternoon spent in the garden. Lovely to find a genuinely dog-friendly pub and the outside tap is a great touch.
Have been coming here for the last 4 years when on holiday.. the food is always excellent - it does get busy so expect a wait sometimes..! On bank holiday Monday though we only waited ten minutes... we spent 4 days on B and B in the rooms above the pub. Lovely cosy rooms, breakfast was amazing and you can choose whatever you want!
Shall definitely return again .. I think it's possibly my favourite pub ever - especially if seated in the original part of the pub

Just spent 3 days in winterton on sea which was lovely. Spent all three evening in the fishermans return and some lunchtimes too �. Food was great, staff were cheerful and they were very dog friendly. Totally made our 3 day break enjoyable and relaxing. Thank you �
Visited Friday evening, very busy but we sat in the extended part with bonus of the tv for the football and the pool table for the grand children. Excellent meal, quite a bit of a wait, but it was very busy. We realised that we didn’t really need a starter and main, as couldn’t eat it all!
Lovely welcoming pub food is absolutely delicious and the portions are huge! Doggies welcome which is lovely after a beach walk popping in for a pint!

Staying in the village for the weekend, pub was virtually next door. Walking in transported me back to what pubs were like years ago. Busy, warm friendly, comfortable. Luckily had pre-booked for our party of ten to eat. Service, beer and food were excellent. Would 100% recommend if in the area. Made our weekend complete. Well done

Stayed for the weekend in room 6. Wonderful stay. Lots of space in the room. Large bathroom. Had two extra beds put in the room and still had lots of space. Bed really comfortable Warm and clean. Breakfast lovely and plenty of choice. Good service . Dog had a lovely time too . Plenty of parking and close to the beach. Had a lovely relaxing time. We were well looked after by all the staff. Friendly place to stay. Will stay again 👍👍🐕
Lovely pub to spend a sunny bank holiday Monday having a lazy pint and lunch .. host was great and definitely had a hint of Micky Flanagan about him :)

Absolutely brilliant. Very interestingly decorated place. Old and new combined harmonically. Pictures, sculptures, funny texts, history of the place. The furniture gives a warm homely feeling. Delicious meal, served with gusto.
Didn't stay there, but have stopped for lunch both times stayed in Norfolk for a holiday. Dog friendly despite some locals and councillors trying to tell dog walkers to stay away.
So please clean up after your dog and respect others if your dog is a bit excitable.
I love Norfolk for the reason it is dog friendly I find dogs are more behaved than children and some families I have been on a beach after families and mess they leave behind.
Councillors and some locals if we did not come you would loose the income of these business and your lovely village will be a ghost town..
Please not all dog owners are irresponsible.
I wish more bins were on the nature reserve.
