We have just had a fantastic stay at the Wild Boar Hotel. The staff could not be more friendly and helpful. The room was spotlessly clean with good quality towels, linens and tea tray. We also took our dog with us and I initially thought an extra £30 for the dog was a bit steep, however I was wrong the care and detail put in to him staying was brilliant. They had left him a water dish, treats, a ball, his own towel and bed, absolutely fantastic. But saving the best until last the breakfast is always outstanding at the Wild Boar, always great quality produce and a brilliant selection to choose from. We have stayed at lots of great hotels but the Wild Boar’s breakfast is the best of any. Fantastic stay and we will 100% be returning 😀
Another lovely one-night-stay with family. Room/food/service all excellent. Go for the Smokehouse Sharing Experience if you can afford it - just make sure you’ve not eaten for about 2 weeks before you order this 🤛
Visited The Wild Boar for their alternative afternoon tea which was fantastic. The food was delicious and something a bit different from the usual afternoon tea. The service was also brilliant with all the ladies very attentive, polite and personable. We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon tea here!
Our only recommendation would be that the seating area for the afternoon tea was a little uncomfortable sat at upright tables and maybe some more soft seating and relaxed areas for this type of meal would invite us to stay even longer.
Overall its very nice with open fires and decore. However the service charge is added to your bill without question so check before you pay, our room was a standard room but the bathroom sink was partially blocked and the beds were singles pushed together, not a huge inconvenience but worth noting. The food was very good, alternative afternoon tea was a mixed selection of hot savoury food, sliders ,monkfish, a slither of salmon on rye with some very nice desert choices. The breakfast was also very good with a varied selection of options and a good choice of cereals and options if your not a full English person. Well done to the kitchen and the staff are very nice. I would also set aside the cost of taxi if your not walking into Bo'ness or windermere as they are not cheap and it's approx 3.5 miles .
Rooms were excellent and the waiter who served my husband and I was extremely helpful, answering questions about the menu. There was also something he didn't know, which he apologised about and went to the kitchen to find out. Would recommend a visit and I would love to go back.
We had an overnight B&B stay given to us as a gift and we then booked for dinner in the restaurant.
Check-in was fine and efficient, our room was waaaaaaaaaaay down the corridor, pretty much walked to the other side of the hotel - a walk we very much needed after our dinner! 😂 Dinner was absolutely delicious, mouthwateringly so. Menu had traditional food choices along with some more unusual (but actually very traditional!) food options. I had the sirloin steak, smoked in their own smoker. I could have eaten it all again, it was just so good! He had the tomahawk - again, tasted amazing. Dessert was good too.
Breakfast was ok. Continental buffet style of various cereals, breads, croissants available and a choice of hot food to order ( don't know if the hot food was included in our B&B price or just the Continental - didn't ask as I wasn't bothered! But you might want to check as it was £25pp). Again, a variety of food choices on the hot menu.
Our room was lovely - spacious, with a complimentary bottle of Prosecco (thank you very much!) and a bottle of water provided. Lots of tea and coffee varieties available. Everything was lovely and clean.
Check out, again, was efficient. Staff were lovely.
Highly recommend dinner and a stay!
Stayed for a couple of days in January. The room was nice, with a comfortable bed. It was very warm with no obvious way to adjust the heating or radiators. The bathroom was clean with very good quality towels. The only issues were no USB charger point, which almost every hotel we visit has one, and the shower tray almost filled to the top whilst showering. The room was not made up during our 2 night stay, but this may just be how they work and wasn't a big issue. The food was excellent, and my steak was undoubtedly the best I've eaten. The breakfast was also very good. The food prices and especially the drinks are a little on the higher side, which we expected. I, however, could not justify the hefty service charge put on our evening meal. For this reason, we ate out at a different restaurant in the town on our second night. The restaurant staff in the morning and evening were very welcoming and friendly, with the exception of Christian. I found him quite rude. On 2 occasions, I said hello and good morning, and he completely blanked me. Check-in was straightforward, although the desk is situated next to the bar, so when busy, I expect this might be an issue. The WiFi was very good, thankfully, as we had no Vodafone signal whatsoever during our stay. There is plenty of parking and the hotel is in a good location, only 5-10 minutes to nearby town.

Fabulous Christmas break away. Wonderful staff (especially Jo and Natalia and Vaclaw in the restaurant who were so friendly welcoming and hilarious) . Greeted with a glass of sherry and a warm welcome on arrival. The hotel was gorgeous and perfect for Christmas with its roaring fires and oak beams. Such a beautiful setting. Fabulous Christmas eve with carols and a festive quiz. Wayne the quizmaster should be on TV!! We all said its one of our best Christmasses ever!
We can't wait to come back
We had the alternative afternoon tea and it was absolutely delicious! The servers were polite and welcoming. They were efficient in seating us even when we came with a dog so they moved our table into the bar. The interior is warm and welcoming and loved the quirky old fashioned ladies toilet. My only comment would be we weren't offered any alternative to tea after the meal, I would have liked to have had the choice of a fruit tea or coffee. However in saying that the tea was tea pigs which is a really good quality tea. I would definitely recommend and would like to return when I'm next in the area.
Went here for food. Amazing quality food. We went for lunch. Quite a small menu. Quite small portions for the price. Service really good and their beer from their brewery superb.
Perfect place for afternoon tea
The staff are so welcoming and pleasant
If I was ever staying close again I would 100% dine here.
Cosy atmosphere with open fire
Stopped for lunch, both had beer battered haddock, it was really good. Crispy batter and fab chips. Had a pint if the Blonde beer, that was great. Bought a bottle to take away.
We dined at The Wild Boar last week.
Best advice- make a reservation! We didn’t as it was an impromptu stop and the team did take care of us (we sat in the bar areas which was so cozy but i cannot wait to try the restaurant next time).
Food was delicious, service was wonderful and their in house beers are fantastic!
With a roaring fire and a cozy decor I 100% recommend The Wild Boar!
