The food at ‘Hooked’ was about as good as food can be. Great quality, fresh ingredients, simple and uncomplicated but cooked to perfection. The service also deserves a mention, it was quiet when we visited as it was very early evening but that is often when restaurant service is at it’s weakest due to reduced staff numbers. The only member of staff we saw was Michael the owner but he could not have been more attentive.
Really lovely food. I went with a big party for a special occasion - I am not a huge seafood eater, but the salt cod croquettes and sea bass was absolutely stunning (plus their chips were amazing as a side too!). The lobster thermidor was the real showpiece - a couple of those were ordered by our table, and were spectacular.
I will definitely be going back. Staff were lovely - perhaps just in need of an extra set of hands as they seemed understaffed but dealt with all the customers very well.
Very friendly atmosphere and lovely, clean surroundings
10/10 food, perfect for a fancier date night. Delicious food cooked to a very high standard, all tested very fresh and high quality. The service was a little slow (due to one server and one chef catering for the whole restaurant), but lovely vibes and extremely lovely staff so can’t really complain about the wait. Bathroom also very clean which is always a plus!
We really enjoyed our experience here! The food was absolutely delicious and flavours very well balanced. We had the scallops, octopus carpaccio, moules frites and sea bass. Highly recommend!
I was hoping for maybe a bit more based on the price. The food was good. The atmosphere was nice but the phone was jarringly high. The starters were good but just didn’t feel like what I hoped for.
Delicious food, all perfectly cooked for a big group. Photos of Octopus carpaccio and Sea Bass main.
Small restaurant, worth booking. Would recommend.
Amazing. Was my first visit to Hooked and I will certainly be going back. The food was such good quality, best fish restaurant I've ever been to. Would recommend the monkfish tail with soft shell crab.
What a fantastic restaurant! Great food, great service and a great location. My partner and I found the restaurant on trip advisor and booked as soon as we saw the menu and positive reviews. I would highly recommend for all seafood lovers and would happily go again.
Great place for fish in Windermere! We ordered the mussels, sea bass and monk fish and every single plate was delicious, you can really see the effort that's made from the ingredients to the presentation of the dishes. Highly recommended for fish lovers
Excellent food and great service. Gf options were a little sparse, and a lack of gf bread meant a somewhat limited choice, but what was available was delicious. Somewhat on the pricy side, but delicious nonetheless. Soft shell crab, octopus carpaccio, and scallops for starters were all delicious. We all tried each others starters! Mains were similarly delicious. Monkfish in Lobster Bisque with popcorn and beetroot puree with smallroasted potatoes, swordfish with pineapple salsa and sweet potato, and sea bass with asparagus and pommes Anna were all beautifully cooked and presented. Sides of broccoli and green beans were extra but well cooked and tasty. Drinks selection was extensive and could be well matched to food choices.
It would have been helpful to know that the set menu we had intended to have was not on offer 'because it is Easter Sunday' prior to visiting the restaurant rather than as we were ordering. This oversight, which should have been on the website or mentioned when booking, added a fairly hefty additional chunk to our final bill. However, this won't stop us from eating here again in the future, and I would recommend Hooked to anyone who enjoys a variety of nicely prepared and well-cooked seafood in a relaxed and informal venue with friendly and attentive service. The restaurant was obviously fully booked, which is clearly a very positive testament to its popularity and quality of food and service.
Excellent restaurant.
Could not fault the food!!Exceptional!!!
Exceptionally customer service by staff. (Especially the girls last night 2/5/24).
Totally recommend this place!!!
Don't miss it out of you visit...but book in advance!!
Will be back!!
I have to say this place is BETTER than most of the Michelin seafood restaurants in London! We have been to several Michelin places in London so we know how they are overrated and overpriced, this Hooked is absolutely worth a trip. We ordered one lobster and one salmon, they put so much effort into there food, it tasted amazing it looked amazing! Also their dessert is so good! We came to this local restaurant without any higher expectations, we thought it just a normal local seafood restaurant, but the food completely changed our minds!
Excellent seafood. The place is small and quaint, so book to avoid disappointment. It may be better to reserve an earlier time if you want something specific on the menu, as several items were no longer available later in the evening. This did not detract from our experience!
The seared scallops with samphire and shallot puree was excellent. As were the cod croquettes.
The seabass (replacement for sea bream) was outstanding - so irresistible, I didnt get a photo in time! The forestier potatoes, grilled leek and cashew puree were worthy accompaniments.
Highly recommended!
Great food, however, extremely tourist taxed… would be great if they offered a locals discount to avoid paying the crazy’s prices local businesses charge for the tourist trade.
Service was great, young lass serving on her own.
What a fantastic restaurant within the region, serving excellent seafood, with good quality and surprise cooking method. The main dish “Scallop, Crayfish & Prawn Gratin” is absolutely an art piece, with mouth watering sauce which really elevate the crayfish. The Salt Cod Croquettes is also highly recommended.
Came here last week and had a very enjoyable meal. Good seafood and good service at a reasonable price. While the starters and mains were excellent (I liked the clams and the ravioli in particular) the only minor letdown was the dessert. The tart pastry was soft but the selection of ice creams and sorbet was great.
Absolutely Amazing!
This place is wonderful! Atmosphere is chill and cool, the staff is also really friendly. They know what they’re doing and what they’re talking about what is comes to allergies and recommendations, and you can tell making the customers happy is their main priority. The food is absolutely amazing! Everything we had melted in other mouths. Absolutely the best meal we had while in a long time. If your thinking about visiting Windermere please visit this little restaurant, you won't be disappointed.
Was a last minute decision to drop by Lake District and decided to try Hooked for lunch (on a saturday). Fortunately there were available seats when we walked in as we were unable to book a table through their website. Every dish we ordered were so fresh and delicious !The desserts are a must try too. We enjoyed them very much.
Descent sea food restaurants provide high quality services, tasty and fresh food, and it seems quite popular here.
We ordered the catch of the day - half lobster. And sea bream. All good :)
Visited this restaurant for my 30th Birthday and it did not disappoint. I would recommend booking in advance as you may struggle to get a table if you walk in on the day.
For starters, I had the scallops and my partner had the squid ink ravioli. The scallops were presented beautifully, but I felt they were very slightly overcooked. If you ate each part of the starter on its own, it would have tasted quite bland. However, this dish is clearly meant to have each element eaten together, and the flavours really compliment each other, the sweetness of the pea shoot with the saltiness of the bacon was really lovely.
For the mains, as it was my birthday, we thought we would treat ourselves to the lobster. The waitress seemed quite surprised that we were both ordering the most expensive thing on the menu. The lobster was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. For dessert, I had the raspberry cheesecake which was delicious and not too heavy. It was more of a mousse texture than a cheesecake.
The staff were really friendly and attentive, we never felt that we were forgotten about. The only niggle I had was that other tables were asked if they wanted water for the table, we however, did not get the same curtesy . Saying that, by the time the food had started to come out, I forgot to ask for some.
This is a lovely little restaurant which is really good value for money for the quality of food you receive. If you are ever in the area, I would definitely recommend.
