Great pies. I had venison and bacon. My wife had another one I forget but we both cleaned up! Great food. Incredible service with a smile right when you walk in. Awesome vibe too, well decorated place. Oh and a great mojito also.
Popped in here for a quick pint on a visit to the area. Was nice to find somewhere local and friendly which also wasn’t too far from the station. A bit of a shame that food wasn’t possible past about 6 on a Sunday, but that’s fairly standard in pub I guess. The first ale I had didn’t taste great s
We stayed one night at a room above the pub and also enjoyed a fabulous dinner. 10mins walk to cathedral. Our room was small but elegant and comfortable. The pub is closed in the morning but muffins and coffee is made available in the room, a nice touch.
The food is unbelievably delicious! We had a rabbit pie with triple cooked chips. The place is a little gem with its stunning, eclectic pub decor; is dog friendly, quite close to the high street but you need your GPS to find it.
A really unique pub. We'll worth a visit. Like going back in time inside. To a bygone era. Highly recommended
Delicious food, staff always smiling, helpful, and very kind, great location, big garden, even a play area for children. Elegant, cosy indoor atmosphere in winter and beer garden in summer. What else could one ask for?
Lovely hotel, the room was spotless and perfectly sized. All the staff were very friendly, welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Lovely walk into town. Will definitely be returning
What can i say. Absolutely lovely few days here. Cannot fault anything, wish we had booked for longer. Rooms comfortable, clean and the breakfast option was lovely. The pub itself was quirky , nothing matched but it all fitted. The owner has definitely got a good eye for antiques. Food and staff
Visited the pub after a day of walking the St James Way - beautiful inside and the beer garden is amazing! Love how they've created separate spaces outside.
A very good local pub, usually great service and friendly staff. This is coupled with a great selection of food and drink
Lovely rooms, nice helpful staff. Even though they do not offer a cooked breakfast, the "en suite" one stored in the fridge is a nice surprise. Delicious Muffin, yoghurt and granola sets you up for the day. High Street only a 10 minute walk away.
Great pub, loads of atmosphere stayed overnight, rooms were clean and had ensuite, food was quick hot and not overpriced, easy to park as pub gave people who stay in their rooms a permit for the car
Lovely cozy pub. Sunday roast is delicious with big Yorkshire pudding and a tasty nut roast as a veggie option. However wine was not great, tasted watery for the price it had.
Really lovely pub with nice atmosphere - I didn’t eat but plenty were and the place was busy
What a lovely pub! We stayed in the twin room upstairs. It was gorgeous, clean, comfortable and quiet. The breakfast was unique and a lovely touch. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. We also had dinner here and the food was excellent! Free parking was so helpful, as well as being
loved the location, quiet leafy neighbourhood, very close to everything, walking distance. Lots of nice historic buildings
Great little pub tucked away in the back streets. Exceptionally welcoming, great food, good beer and sister service what more can you want!!
Just had a delicious Sunday roast at The King Alfred. Absolutely delicious food, excellent service and a beautiful old pub.
