What's not to love? Great staff, stunning individual bedrooms, roll top bath and rain forest showers to die for. History, quirky, yet understated and lacking pretentiousness. Great food and is still, essentially a pub!

We ate early on a Saturday evening, having booked a table on line. Food was great and reasonably priced. The pub is split into a number of smaller rooms, all with a fab atmosphere. Friendly waiters made the evening and even sorted a taxi out for us. Definitely recommend that you book.

Very friendly inviting stay. Staff were very eager to help with any need whatsoever. Our room was spacious and felt like the Master Bedroom in Grandmothers House. The adjacent pub was very cozy and the epitome of an old English pub. Restaurant was very good and ate many breakfasts and dinners there. Hats off particularly to Ollie and Marion particularly. We will be back.

The 'Wyke', as the locals call it, is arguably Winchester's best pub. Superb beers & wine, together with excellent food!

Enjoyed my stay of 10 nights in their Garden Suite. Quaint and cozy room. It had a huge bathroom with slipper tub and separate shower. The double bed was upstairs, small however very comfortable. The Garden Suite is actually across the corner from Wykeham Arms pub, ,and behind it is Jane Austen's house. I loved the fact that is was tucked in back of a great and fully stocked Deli. It was so quiet at night that I could only hear birds chirping in the garden behind it. Outstanding food in the pub (Delicious Sunday Roast!). Housekeeping was great! Great location! The only comment for improvement would be the mini fridge was on the wall and didn't hold very much except drinks and maybe a small yogurt. However all in all great place to stay and affordable. Downside, I just happen to pick the hottest 10 days EVER in Winchester. Staff was friendly and very accommodating.

Visited with friends for the Flavours of Autumn Tasting Menu. The restaurant was very clean and tidy, the log fire made it feel cosy. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The food . . . Was absolutely PHENOMENAL! From the taste to the presentation, everything about it was just outstanding. The timings between each dish was just right and we were always told what each dish was. A variety of all different flavours and it was cooked to perfection! A very enjoyable experience and looking forward to visiting again. Well done Chef!

Evening meal for 2. Warm welcome, the old pub has a unique comfort and charm and an eclectic vibe that embraces you. The menu is quite unique, full of local and fresh food that is superbly presented and great, unexpected flavours. The mackerel was quite outstanding, gently flavored with wonderful texture. The only downside was that the service dropped off after the main course, but this is a pub, albeit one very high up there in quality.

Omg. I was away with my wife for our anniversary, we had a really bad experience at another hotel so left and came here last minute. Was the best decision we made. The pub itself is so quirky, unique and every member of staff was friendly. We felt instantly comforted and happy. Then we saw the room. It was a superior double.. the decor was gorgeous, the little touches amazing such as the cool fridge on the wall with fresh milk, water and free beer in. The coffee machine, the fireplace, the dressing gowns in the wardrobe...it had a dbs radio, awesome old school phone and nice TV. Bathroom was fabulous and the 2 shower choices. Such a treasure to find and so so glad we left the other hotel. We will be returning!! Thank you SO much đŸ€—

We had dinner here for the first time in ages. The food was really excellent, but the prices are steep for pub food. If you think of it as fine dining (which it is) then it's a great evening.

Easily the best pub roast I've ever had. On top of that, the beer was well-kept, they were showing the rugby and the staff were really helpful and friendly. Absolutely fantastic!

We stayed Sunday night at Wykeham Arms for a fishing trip at Itchin. Single rooms are small but have all the amenities with even a mini wall hanging fridge. It is a Fuller's pub, therefore of course there is great beer but also a good wine selection. Amazing food with very generous portions, be warned before ordering sides. It's also a Rugby pub so we could watch RWC there. The decorations of the pub us also very unique and interesting. There are tankards hanging everywhere with other interests old items. The location is superb, in the heart of the old city center very close to the cathedral. Overall I definitely recommend it for drinks, eating or staying in Winchester

We ran in here to escape from the rain and get some lunch. It's got a nice authentic aura and our meals were tasty. Ciders are really good. The tables were not cleaned for us it was a little sticky.

Famous traditional pub next to Winchester College and always associated with it. Sit at old school desks in the bar area. The most amazing roast dinners.

We've tried a few Sunday roasts in Winchester, and this is definitely the best one. I had the beef roast (pictured) which was a generous portion and came with a separate board of sides. The gravy was superb. Our table also had two vegetarian wellingtons which were reported to be excellent. I also had a sticky toffee pudding which was really lovely. I've never had caramelised banana as part of this pudding but it was a really good addition. The pub is located behind Winchester Cathedral and has a small amount of outdoor seating. Service was attentive and friendly.

Favourite place, ideal stop on the way to the Cornwall. Central, cosy and full of atmosphere. Spacious, individual rooms. Tasty food, great choice of drinks, friendly staff. The cathedral is around the corner. We come back again and again!

Had lunch there on Friday gone. What a delight. Obviously, the location and building oozes history but the people, feel and food were all just, so, lovely. You know when you go to a place and you know they know what they're doing and some, especially with the food, which has simply got to be the best pub grub full stop.

Having had an excellent meal one evening as part of a group of 20 people in a private dining room, with really good food and wine, also quick and friendly service, several of us returned for drinks in the bar the following day. There was a great range of beers and other drinks available, plus the same friendly and efficient service.

Follow Mr & Mrs R on TikTok. Amazing find, full of history. It’s rooms have shared many political secrets over the years. Fullers ales at their best and delicious traditional food at reasonable prices for Winchester. The 28oz NATIVE CÔTE DE BOEUF FOR 2 with triple-cooked chips, watercress & shallot salad, peppercorn & BĂ©arnaise sauce was delicious and well worth the price.
