A fabulous night out with the girls was topped off by one of the best taste experiences in Japanese cuisine using locally sourced produce. Did you know Winchester was the largest distributor of wasabi outside of Japan??? No me neither!!! The taster menu was excellent, beautifully presented and top customer service from the owner Miff. One of the top restaurants I have been to in a long time. A real treat.

Simply the best place in town, we'll run, staff super amazing and every time we have eaten there it has been lush. The price is so worth every penny, you wouldn't see me in the other places, as Kyoto wins hands down every time

Absolutely incredible. Maitre d was great and very knowledgeable. Fresh wasabi grated on a shark skin grater and the specials were a particular delight. Fantastic food and that dessert sake was absolutely delicious.

Not just my favourite restaurant in Winchester, but one of my favourite restaurants full stop. Amazingly fresh and beautiful sushi and sashimi, lovely decor, and a great wine list with recommendations by not one, but two Masters of Wine. Ask for recommendations and you will be treated to very special dishes like the cherry blossom par-smoked salmon sashimi, and the Winchester roll complete with the only wasabi grown in Europe sourced from 5 miles down the road. Miff and team are doing a great job - long may it last!

Big shout out to Kyoto Kitchen staff - thank you so much for going out of your way to post my handbag to me. The food was incredible and service, impeccable. I've always been a Nobu fan but I think Kyoto kitchen is better! Cannot wait to return in the near future. Thank you again

Just off the High Street on Parchment Street, Kyoto Kitchen adds to the lovely variety of eateries in Winchester.  Emma and I popped in here to take advantage of their business lunch offer – 3 courses for £19.95.  There was a generous amount of food and we left with full tummies. The menu offers the usual suspects in Japanese food and the business lunch does give access to a good range of these.

Really great food and a great experience. There's a range of options on the menu, we went for two of the set menus between four and it was A LOT. Such a huge variety of flavours. Service was impeccable and the dining room is really pleasant. It's expensive, but it's properly crafted food.

We visited Kyoto Kitchen for my 21st birthday. We were greeted by a table that had been decorated with some birthday decorations, which was a really lovely touch. We also got a complimentary sweet Japanese drink at the end of the evening, which tasted amazing. We chose the set menu for 2. It was the most gorgeous food, giving a great insight into Asian cuisine, giving the opportunity to try something I wouldn’t necessarily choose normally. It was an amazing experience. Our waiter was incredible, so knowledgeable of the restaurant and the food they cook, you could tell he was very passionate and he was a great host (it was the restaurant owner’s son, we never asked his name stupidly), but if he sees this - thank you! An amazing evening - we’ll be back.

Amazing. We had the Syokutsuu gourmet set taster menu to guide us through our first ever experience of Japanese food. Supported with each dish being described and explained by the waiting team at Kyoto Kitchen who showed great passion for the food they produced. Paired with different sake to perfectly complement each dish. With the owner on hand to make sure everything ran smoothly whilst being passionate about getting things right and ensuring everyone had a memorable visit. A must visit venue for anyone who comes to Winchester.

This has been one of the finest meals I have eaten across the globe. New venue, same impeccable service and Devine food. The Hampshire beef roll was so succulent . The staff are super knowledgeable, they know the menu inside out and how to pair which sake with which dish. This was a very special occasion made even more by Abdul and his awesome team. We will be back I. Force from Bali next year and look forward to the accommodation offerings. You guys rock 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Delicious food, great service and good atmosphere. Waiters were knowledgeable about the menu and passed on a couple of recommendations. Beer was good too and the fresh wasabi was wonderful.

Enjoyed a beautiful meal at Kyoto Kitchen last night. The dining room is calm and stylishly decorated. Service was very friendly and attentive. We tried two of the tasting menus - as a table of four - and the Vegan taste of Japan was excellent value and showcased lots of wonderful flavours. The artichoke (crispy and subtle was a nice start) although I’m afraid the Inaka Daikon (braised white radish with sesame miso and kombu dashi soup) was a real miss for me - hard to eat and not especially worth the effort. Would have preferred, say, some gyoza instead. Hugely enjoyed the aubergine and the Agedashi tofu (crispy coated deep fried tofu with tentsuyu) they were full of beautiful flavours and textures. Loved all of the sushi - the nigiri, ume-shiso yasai roll and goma-ae spinach with a sesame and mirin sauce (tasted like a delicious tahini). Was starting to feel sated so didn’t have much room for the ankake tofu (deep-fried crispy coated tofu in smooth thick sauce topped with oriental mushrooms) and rice but it was silky and rich. The mochi to end the meal was also delicious. Wonderful to experience so many delicious bites of food in such a welcoming and chic setting. Would certainly recommend.

4 years ago my honeymoon was in Japan for a month. This is probably the best Japanese food I’ve had since! Absolutely amazing. I was offered the chance to have a set menu for one and I was encouraged into the gourmet set menu - good decision! Best dishes for me were the Lobster Hari Hari and the Spicy-Miso Marinated Black Cod but all were incredible. Worth pushing the boat out and trying the Gourmet menu. Spoke to the owner a number of times during the meal and he was engaging and friendly. They’re moving to a larger venue in Winchester soon, so more people can try!

Sons were super excited to be eating at a Michelin starred restaurant but instead we got much ado about nothing. Nothing went bang in your mouth, simply well executed Japanese cooking techniques but without the flavour profile of top end Japanese cuisine. Overpriced for what it is and struggling to understand the Michelin star.

Had the tasting menu and some tea to share. The chicken karage and dragon roll were a couple of my favourites, especially the sauce with the chicken. Overall, the tasting menu was lovely, and great value for money. Service was also fantastic, everyone was incredibly friendly, and we never felt rushed despite being the last ones to leave.

Pretty decent Japanese food in the area. Everything was made fresh! Service was slightly on the slow side as it took a while for food to arrive, thus 3 stars for that.

Really delicious food, beautifully presented. Service was excellent too, fast and friendly. We had the Taste of Japan set menu, it's a lovely mix of lots of different types of food, and perfect quantities too. Would highly recommend this restaurant, we'll definitely be back.

We were really looking forward to our visit for a couple of months and in many ways it didn't disappoint. The service was very attentive but the presentstion wasn't great. We'll probably be back for the chiefs table experience soon.

Food was superb and cannot be faulted. Some small points to improve upon and, at this price point, I would expect to see this: Service - we had multiple waiters, having one throughout the meal would have been better. Each waiter was excellent, but this makes it slightly less personal and less attentive. It was our anniversary, so a small touch, like a welcome drink or something at the end would have been nice. Atmosphere - tables were a little close together. Compare yourselves to fine dining options, like Chesil Rectory or The Black Rat. Your food is superb, just a few small things to bridge that gap.

I dined alone, and had a very enjoyable experience and was made to feel most welcome. No one rushed me and the service was attentive. The menu has some delightful, different and tasty dishes including lobster and scallops. The prawn tempura was lovely and fresh, the Chef's nigiri selection was wonderful. Definitely to be recommended

Absolutely fantastic ! We went for the SYOKUTSUU GOURMET FOR 2 WITH PAIRED SAKE, it was like a tour of Japan! The flavours were delicate and structured. The Sake and whisky accompanying the dishes perfected the experience. Well worth the cost for this signature set meal. Staff were knowledgeable and attentive making this an amazing dining experience.
