This place was such a strange mix of good and bad! We stayed on a Saturday night but we're the only people in the restaurant which was already laid out for breakfast at 8pm. The beer was good but the coke was like coloured water.... The menu and the food was superb! Our room was fine except for the burn in the carpet with a good shower. Breakfast was very good except for the lousy tea and coffee which were both undrinkable. There were plenty of staff around and while I would stay here again, next time I will comment directly to them!

3 Star Facility with 5 Star service. It is a reasonably sized hotel in the town centre and I stayed on the top floor (I have stayed on different floors on previous visits) and the quality is consistent. Rooms are neat and very clean. Furniture is in very good quality even if somewhat tired. Bathroom is in good shape and very clean but the towels look like they have seen too many calendars. Breakfast is generous and probably the best part of my stay. I don't eat any other meal as I am stuck in meetings all day and we go out for team dinners at night. Note of caution. The hotel will accept cards and GBP only. They do not accept USD as I found out on one of my trips when my card didn't authorise payment. Had to dash down to Tesco (7mins walk) to change currency.

The 2 ladies working last night (30th Sept) are a great credit to the hotel! Nothing was too much trouble and there were plenty of smiles to help surviving from a suitcase a much pleasant experience than I have experienced elsewhere. Very good CV19 precautions in place and very professionally enforced.

Perfect balance between friendly and anonymous - felt very private but reception staff were keen to help. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable, though bathroom had a couple of maintenance issues (toilet bowl was cracked, and during my shower a bath tap fell off and hit my ankle). So in all, good, just slightly more attention to facilities needed. We didn't eat there, so can't judge the food.

Very good breakfast good room's / but bed's are bit too small I'm 6.2f. Also great service - especially from lady, called Melanie. She's very friendly / lovely and sorted our every one problem with a smile on her face.

The rooms are great, not massive but they have everything you need and the staff are friendly, comfy beds and pillows and the bar isnt too pricey either. On another note the staff went above and beyond to cater for my friends wedding party after the first venue fell through and within half an hour we had been given a function room and had set up there instead, hats off to the staff at mercure you really went above and beyond last night and you deserve a thankyou at the very least so here it is, thanks guys! You saved my friends wedding from disaster

Nice hotel, friendly and helpful staff. The room was comfy though the bed was a wee bit soft... great service, though. Watch out for the pricey room service charge but they were more than happy to put a tray together for me to take to my room.

I have stayed at this hotel twice now, and both times have been fantastic. The room is so spacious and the bed so comfortable. On my second visit, I had made an error with my booking; I had booked a week in advance of the night I actually wanted. The receptionist on duty that evening (John), was very accommodating and managed to find us a room last minute. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying over in Wigan. For the money you pay, it is excellent.

I was in quarantine here for a few days and Jade brought food to my door and jugs of I've cold water everyday. A lovely gesture and a real caring and friendly member of management. Did everything to make my stay comfortable and mothered me. Thank you Jade keep up the great work!

Plenty of parking space. Close enough to the centre, but far enough away, to count as a good location. Limited bar selection at usual hotel prices. Food servery is compact but replenished quickly. Staff are friendly & make you feel very welcome. Rooms are a good size, with most standard facilities, as expected. No air-conditioning in my room, but a wall heater & window made for a comfortable stay. Lift & stairs to upper floors. Unsure of their provision of disabled rooms but it is wheelchair accessible. Room numbers may catch you out on first stay as leading digit, usually indicating floor number, is +1. (100 is on Ground floor, 200 is First floor, etc..). Only criticism would be the lobby outside my room had a stale tabacco odour.. Unsure if this is just the building age or rising air/smog from smokers corner outside. Thankfully it did not permeate into my room. All other areas I passed through were fine, well ventilated & odour free (except the restaurant of course).
