Have had 2 excellent evening meals here, and an afternoon tea. It’s only a small menu, but we couldn’t fault the food, and the service is great. We were there just as the evening entertainment was starting, and said we will definitely return in the future for an entertainment evening.
Very clean and tidy restaurant with plenty of tables and reasonable space for parking. We really enjoy the afternoon tea, reasonable variety of snacks and cakes. My coffee was very nice and was a little disappointed to be charged for a coke when the coffee was free. To be honest the atmosphere wasn't good for a chilled afternoon tea as there seemed to be a kids party going on, on the otherside of the bar. Music being very load at 3:30 and it kept stopping and starting as the was playing games. Overall a lovely place to go just not the right atmosphere for the particular scenario. Would recommend going especially with a family as they have large booths too sit in and obviously entertainment for the little ones.
I have been here quite a few times now, I go here because of their vegan options as it is limited in the area. I appreciate that they have different options for me to eat! Especially when the rest of the family are omnivores. Lovely staff and service every time we go!
We had our children's joint christening held at the woodlands and we couldn't recommend it enough for events! The staff were so helpful and professional and the buffet was gorgeous, set out so well and it tasted amazing. Everyone took seconds home in trays.
We hired the marquee outside and we couldn't fault it, so nice for the kids to play outside on the play area. We hired a private bouncy castle also which the kids loved. Lee was so helpful with booking everything and was always available to chat if we had any questions or requests. Couldn't fault the day, thank you so much for everything we had a lovely day!
A fantastic hidden gem of a place! Beautiful decor and friendly atmosphere. We had the high tea, and all the delicious sandwiches were fresh, as well as thewarm scones!
Best food I have ever eaten in Widnes. I had the Honey Guinness Glazed Belly Pork to start. It was cooked beautifully and had crispy crackling and the sauce is beyond good. For main I had a Beef Salad, which was fresh and and well put together with an Asian twist. Slices of cold roast beef over the top, perfectly pink in the middle. We shared home made nachos, also delicious and well portioned with fresh guacamole, sour cream and melted cheese. I finished with the ginger sponge pudding, by which time I was fit to bust, but it was also delicious and had to be done! My family had Tai Curry, Wings, Whitebait, Black Pudding Lollipops and Homemade Lemon Humus. All the food was raved over. Everything is freshly cooked and is mostly original recipes and portion size is not a disappointment and excellent quality and value. This is amazing and different restaurant quality. The service was exceptional and the waitress we had was very helpful and obviously loves the food too. The woodlands is a fantastic venue and deserves to be full every day. I live in France and would be delighted if it was my local. Well done everyone and thank you for an exceptional dining experience.
First time I've been here, but certainly won't be the last! The place is lovely, inside and out. Dining area outside is great, with a play area for children. We had a substantial lunch, special 2 courses, and the portions were certainly not small. The food was delicious, main course and dessert, couldn't be faulted. I would like to mention our lovely waitress, Mia, she was really friendly and helpful, answering any questions we had, and finding the answers if she didn't know herself. So, from the 3 mad old biddies, thank you and to Lee, congratulations on your superb establishment and staff. We hope to see you all again soon.
We visited this venue on it’s opening weekend. As with any new venue, we thought service might be poor as everything was so new, including the team and there may be the normal ‘teething problems’. To our surprise things ran pretty much like clockwork and the team all seemed really well trained and up-to-speed.
The venue itself is really quite stunning and it has the feel of genuine quality. The smell of wood throughout is gorgeous and the thought that has gone into the design and concept is noticeable and really commendable. The booth’s, the tree in the restaurant and the little touches like charging points on the side of booths are the things I particularly liked.
The beer garden and play area have been completely transformed, including a nice little water fountain. I’m also pleased they have taken the time to add more space and design a proper carpark.
In terms of the food, initially we were underwhelmed and the portions looked quite small. However, they food itself tasted amazing and the portion sizes were actually perfect. The ginger sticky toffee pudding was a highlight for me and was my favourite dish that we tried. I would definitely recommend to anybody looking for a dessert to try.
The downside for me personally overall is the price. I can fully understand that a major investment has gone into the venue but the prices are way over the top. It feels as though the prices are at the top of the market and have then another 10% added on top. £22 for a burger is steep, as is £19 for a roast dinner. My daughter had a homemade lemonade at £4.75 which again seems excessive. We are all living in a time of all families seeing cost of living increase and the choice to save money when they can. The pub is in a great location for locals in Hough Green and hopefully this can become a real focal point for the community. Hopefully the prices don’t put too many off because we genuinely want this venue to do well.
Overall our experience was positive and we will definitely return. Hopefully as things settle down, there may be more competitive pricing, because as things stand it’s probably the most expensive pub to eat and drink in the town.
Fabulous breakfast there today was looking for somewhere to go for breakfast with my grandson we looked o line at their web site about 11am and was surprised it was open. It opens at 9.30am on Fridays. We had excellent hot food very tasty and plenty of it highly recommend

This Bar Restaurant is fabulous. Lovely for adults and children. The layout is cosy comfortable and adds to the ambience. Service was good friendly and helpful. Disability friendly. Very clean toilets for all. Food , good potions, presentation lovely and very tasty. Has childrens play area a real bonus. Also but not yet installed, electric parking spaces, in a good parking area also with disabled parking.
Lovely outside area, its good and spacious where on a nice day even if your kids don't go in the kids area, which is good on its own you could bring a ball or you kid's scooter and they wouldn't get in any ones way. Food is lovely. The chip portion size was a bit small for how much the burger meal is. Little bowl in the picture but other than that everything was lovely.
We had a great afternoon at the Woodlands Bar and Grill theme day with the animals. My son even got to see a snake close up. Very brave of him! The food was superb (I had fish and chips, my wife had the chicken skewers) and the service was excellent. We will definitely be going again.
We went on a very very busy night, but the service and food where excellent. I would like to mention some of the staff who were exceptional, it would be helpful if they had name badges, girl with blonde hair and white hair clip was very attentive and an asset to the pub. We will be back
