we booked for breakfast with marvel and had a really nice experience. food was continuous being topped up fresh and after we had eaten we made our way over to the characters who interacted well with all the kids and also got their faces painted if they wanted too. great experience all in all .thankyou

The waitress service was excellent. The only thing not quite right was the Yorkshire puddings were rather smaller than usual, and were very flat, more like pancakes. And the roast potatoes were very big and a bit under cooked. Maybe just an off day as we've never had a problem here before.

What's not to love about a great piping hot carvery? 🤔 Nothing as long as it is hot 🔥, and cooked to perfection! Well this was mainly beautiful but as with all buffet self service things are a little hit and miss trying to keep things hot without overcooking... The roast potatoes were a little overcooked, with tough skins, and so was the Yorkshire with a very crispy outside that shattered when cut (I liked that). I thought you were supposed to peel potatoes before roasting? The inside was perfect but missed the mark on the roasted bit as they were tough! Beans looked wrinkled and old, carrot was as nature intended... dirty on the outside, so could have been cleaned better! Talking about cleaning... The table was sticky and so were the menus, and the salt shaker was damp and rusty... see photo. Pork, Gammon, turkey and beef was cooked beautifully. The cheesecake after was lovely according to the wife as she had that as a takeaway.

It's a carvery so the food is hit and miss depending on the time of day you go in. What makes this place so good is the lovely waitresses. Always polite, nothing is ever too much trouble and they are all fantastic with the kids. Make sure you tip them well, they deserve it.

The whole experience was dealt in a friendly, professional manner. Lots of variety of meat and vegetables to choose from. I feel that the plates should be slightly warmer as the food became tepid very fast. I do like my roast hot but never find it like this! Maybe a microwave to flash it over by the gravy table?

We don't leave local, but we love the food. We have tried another Toby, but this is the best. This is first. Second, the stuff is so friendly and so polite and helpful. The place is very clean and has enough space. We love to go there. Very recommended

Wet shopping day in Wickford. Decided on a Toby on our way home. Arrived about 1.30 at Runwell. Glad to see the car park wasn't full. Got a table for the two of us and sat down and waited... there were a few empty tables so It appears they were short staffed as they seemed to be doing their best to cope. The food was good as usual, apart from my parsnips, which were slightly hard. OK, so aside from all this, We both cleared our plates and left a tip as we always seem to.. Set up for the rest of the day and no cooking in the evening. Another win.

Great food, very helpful staff. One of our party had mobility issues and we had requested seating, toilets and carvery all on the same level - all requests were granted and all facilities were accessible using the ramps at the venue.

Prices gone up again, no apple pie on the menu now, why? When it is the most popular dessert, please tell the carvers not to put a load of fat and grizzle on the plates as they can obviously see it which is what I had

Crowded as we had not booked, staff was very accommodating. Was disappointed as not really roast as they was new large pots with skins on, didn’t mind but would have liked the choice. Very rushed out wasn’t asked if we wanted a desert, which I would have quiet happily had as takeaway, but was still nice

Enjoyed with some family for a spot to eat. Was a very hot day, would of liked to have some air fan circulation as was absolutely sweating hot inside where we was placed to sit. Uver than the heat inside everything else was perfect.

Food was great. Staff were a bit lacklustre. Chap that showed us to our table didn't engage with us at all, he didn't tell us our waitresses name or what would happen (we've been before but??) next . Chef dong the carving seemed as if he'd rather be anywhere else but where he was, waitress had two drinks to remember but got them both wrong (we didn't risk asking for rectification) . I did put in the special request box that it was our 30th wedding anniversary although I didn't expect anything special it would have been nice if a staff member had simply wished us "happy anniversary". This Toby has gone downhill since our last visit 6 or 7 months ago I feel.

Lovely brekkie , Sau the lady who served us and kept the whole service running brilliantly was super kind ! She see we ordered pancakes for the birthday 3 year old and came out with a special portion that had a candle in ! It's little touches like that which should be appreciated so thank you very much for you thoughtfulness SAU especially during a busy service ! Toby are lucky to have you as a staff member
