We loved basils me and my partner and my 14month old daughter went here for our tea . The food was absolutely gorgeous it was soo delicious and i finished my full plate including my partner and even my little girl . The service was fab and everyone was very friendly always came over to ask if we needed anything or if the food was to our standards , never had to take a meal back the food is just amazing!! Highly recommend they dont dissapoint !!.

Had a beautiful meal at basils with my parter for his 60th, will definitely highly recommend it. Chief and staff took care of us both and defiantly going back for a family meal this year�
Second visit, fitted us in without a booking lucky us, friendly from start to finish, good banter, top service and delicious home cooked food we had the stew that wasnt on the menu, stuffed, content and will be back if they will have us...may even book in advance next time �

Me and hubby had a meal tonight and it was so nice. The best cauliflower cheese I have ever had!! Just wish I had had enough room to fit in a pudding but there's always next time. X

Basils have just hosted the wedding reception for my mum and her new husband and were absolutely brilliant, can not credit the staff enough for all of their efforts throughout the evening.
The food was delicious, worth what you pay and more!! (Huge portions), great for all of the hungry guests who attended, they catered for the babies that came as well. They also hosted "tea and cake" upstairs with a member of staff playing some songs and were very patient and understanding with the mess and the toys for the little ones. All in all a lovely end to a wonderful day.

A decent restaurant serving a good standard of traditional food in a pleasant but intimate setting. Parking is good and free next to the former pub and is located on the main road, so easy to find as a traveller.
Absolutely fabulous food and great staff. They couldnt do enough for you. Lovely mothers day meal .great time had by us all.

First time I've been. I left here feeling very, very happy. The food was quite simply superb (roast beef Sunday lunch) and the service was excellent. Beer and wine were very, very good too. Prices were very reasonable too. Definitely recommend and will definitely be going back.

Excellent choices on the menu, scallops we're cooked to perfection as they can be overcooked very easily. Table service was very attentive without being intrusive, good wine list at competitive prices. If you are looking for a great experience then book in advance for this is a little Gem with a great atmosphere.
This is an updated review after a visit tonight. From the start Christian was polite and very attentive to our needs as usual. A true professional. The starter of scallops with black pudding and the parsnip puree and parsnip crisp was the best scallops we have had. And we've had a few. The chef Matthew talked us through what he is hoping to do with the menu and it all sounds very good. We have already booked for the Sunday when the full new menu is in effect . Can't wait. Well done to bassils staff tonight.
Food was lovely, very nice. Shame they seemed to have some stock issues but part of the parcel of the country at the moment so can't fault them for that. Waiting staff were brilliant we will be back
We visit here as frequently as we are able. New menu choices, good food served in sizable portions and always very tasty. The staff are lovely and very accommodating. Upstairs bar due to open soon for those that just want their thirst quenching.

Great food, great service and always a nice atmosphere. We come here with the family, usually for Sunday lunch about 6 or 7 times a year. Never been let down, staff friendly and helpful, highly recommend.
We were upstairs for a christening and the hot budget was deicious tasty and lots of choice. My partner's gluten free diet was catered for without asking. Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly and efficient staff fed will return
Decent food nice selection of cocktails and food. Was abit cold in restaurant and staff frequent table abit too much but that's personal preference. Overall very nice and would recommend and go back.
First time in there lovely place took my two for fathers day. Apart from a limited menu food was excellent, nice staff definitely go again.
Superb food. Great staff. Excellent value. What more could you want? The filet steak I had tonight was the best I've ever had, anywhere. The portions are, erm, substantial...! Fantastic!
