Great find in whistable, famous for its oysters and beer. We ordered plenty of oysters and they were all freshly shucked in front of your eyes. They taste fantastic and it proves to be great value. Other food like fish and chips were good and the fried oysters are also worth a go. The restaurant is next to the beach and it was a very relaxing place to be in. Would recommend highly.

There was a queue when we arrived as the weather was beautiful but we soon gained entry after opting for an indoor table.
They are dog friendly indoors (& outdoors) too which was great as we always have ours with us! 🐾
Due to the hot weather and the extremely unfortunate fact I was wearing a bright yellow dress, I seemed to attract millions of little black bugs when I was outside so it was perfect sitting indoors.

Superbly good fish and chips, with an idyllic view of the sea in the background. Besides The Forge, this is the place to go in my honest opinion.
Portions are good, and was delivered quickly after ordering! Made to order too! Only issue is that they're a little inconsistent in portion sizes - my partner got way more chips than I did, and we ordered the exact same dish. The tartare sauce could do with having a tad more zing, and the bread rolls are OK at best.
Atmosphere was a little flat, but then again, the other customers were of a little ruder sort than us.
My wife and I managed too finally get a visit here. We had been talking about it for years and today was the day. My excitement was not misplaced. We clearly choose the hottest day of the year. We arrived and was greeted warmly and politely. Offered a choice of seating 👍. Found a Table, downloaded the app and placed the order. All very simple. Our order was Scampi & Chips which my wife Really enjoyed and Loved, I ordered Cod and Chips, Mushy and 1/2 Doz Oysters. The food was served very Hot, well cooked and great tasting. My only criticism was my Chip portion size. It was 50% that of my wife's Portion but luckily with the oysters and mushy peas that helped. Superb vibe and the singer was very GOOD….. Overall well worth the 120mile journey each way.
Came 2 times in a row! The BEST Oysters 🦪 in the area! Also wonderful staff, views, location, and seafood! If your not from the area be aware you need to pay for parking and it only takes cash (coins) City runs the parking and the restaurant has no control. The restaurant only takes cards so they can’t make change. We will be back!
We went here once in August 2023, the oyster is fabulous, we came again in end Oct 2023 in the season for oyster. However, the oyster is very small, very dissatisfying… and we also tried the native oyster, it could be better…
What a wonderful experience. Seafood to die for - half a dozen oysters followed by lobster in a butter and parsley sauce - absolutely delicious! Service was exceptional - informative, polite and non intrusive. Of course the ideal weather - a balmy, warm evening - made dining out under the awnings a perfect environment. The sun setting over the Isle of Sheppey was a beautiful backdrop to our evening.
Nothing like fresh oysters and lobster. Well served. Swift service, made easy by the app. Beautiful view of the sea.

A short trek away from the harbour market is this gem. Went for some weekday lunch, and I wasn't disappointed. It was a lovely day to enjoy half a dozen Whitstable oysters and a Kentish lager. Service was great, and very friendly.
We stumbled across this walking along the beach. The food was absolutely delicious. We had the cod and chips and it was very tasty. Lovely music playing and a nice atmosphere. Staff were friendly
The outdoor seatings will give you a spectacular view of the seashore. The oysters were fresh, as was the lobster we tried.
For me and my partner in The Lobster Shack are the best oysters in Whitstable. Absolutely delicious. Very fresh. And wine! I had a glass of vinho verde - superb! Highly recommend and we will definitely be back
What an amazing experience for two oyster virgins! Wonderful atmosphere as soon as you enter the restaurant. Very friendly and kind staff. Amazing food! Superb Oysters and Lobster plus a gorgeous sea view. Ticked this one off my bucket list! We’ll definitely be coming back! ❤️
I actually gasped when I saw the waiter bringing our plates to the table. Well done lobster shack for NOT skimping on the portions during this cost of living crisis! Cod was perfect, juicy and flaky. Excellent service and friendly staff. Will definitely make a point to visit again.

Just need a little more drive to turn over covers faster. We queued for 25 mins, and once inside 12 empty seats, we ordered and ate whilst watching empty tables not have covers not being filled and a large queue outside.
Food was good, tried oysters for the first time, staff were informative on how to eat them, 1st staff member rather dismissive and told us to order drinks with our food (would have preferred drinks while we decided)2nd staff member great knew what we needed provided advice on how to enjoy oysters at their best. Would have had a 2nd drink with dinner but as we were told to order at the same time we didn't bother. Overall pleasant food, service OK.
The food is always excellent, fresh and local. The chips are superb.
I also love that they have maintained ordering from an app if you want (on this review they came over to take orders as well so it seems like a hybrid model now, so if you don't have a smartphone with you you're fine) as it speeds departure when you're done. Staff have always been great.
If I have one criticism, please drop the loud live music. It's a great venue with great views but the last time I was there I saw conversations across tables stop at whiplash speed when the music started. I know they're likely trying to help local artists which is great but for me it wrecks the experience.
Whilst there’s no lack of choice for great fresh and local seafood in Whitstable, The Lobster Shack offers a truly special experience.. We went as a family for my Mother’s birthday and we’re treated really well with outstanding food. We all enjoyed oysters, lobsters, yummy homemade chips and lovely local wine from Kent. Thanks to the chefs for a lovely afternoon. 🦞🦪🎉🥳🍾
We had to wait a long time in a sunny yet windy day. We had fresh boat cod, lobster and kids menu sausage and chips. Staff were friendly and helpful. Parking was an issue so do plan ahead.
