I took my mum to the Crab and Winkle because she loves seafood. It is a very tastefully decorated restaurant and the staff friendly and helpful. It has beautiful views of the harbour and the food excellent. I am not the biggest fish eater in the world but I found a few things on the menu I liked. I would say to anyone pay it a visit we will certainly go back
My daughters birthday lunch - food perfect - one of the best fish restaurants, a large selection of choice so if you like fish you're in for a treat. Staff were polite and very attentive to our needs - would recommend. Booked by telephone all to my total satisfaction and I'm usually very hard to please. Thank you Crab and Winkle hope to see you again very soon.
We were greeted at the top of the stairs on a wet, rainy Tuesday late lunchtime by a lovely young waitress, she immediately offered us a window seat so we could enjoy the view.
We decided on dressed crab and whitebait for starters. I had trouble deciding between 4 main course choices and the same waitress joked with me about having the same problem, which was funny. I told her my choices and she suggested the fish pie as it's very tasty. So I went with that. And I was completely and totally wowed from the first taste! The sauce was supreme and tasted absolutely wonderful, there was a generous helping of fish and I truly cannot wait to go again and I will choose the fish pie without any doubts ! Thanks for making my lunchtime a real proper tasty treat!
Love this place. The staff are friendly and the food is amazing. I love the Oysters and so many other dishes that I find it really hard to choose. This is the place I take all my visitors for a meal (any excuse for me to visit) and they all want to return.
Excellent food and service even though a fish restaraunt.would have been good to have one option that wasn't fish apart ftom side orders which they had .
Walking past on a lovely warm spring evening, thought how lovely it would be to sit outside and eat on the terrace. Glad we did, had a lovely meal (sea bass for me, sea food tikka masala for hubby), couple of glasses of wine....perfect
Lovely restaurant, friendly informative staff, food was amazing. Always wanted to visit, exceeded our expectations . Have not stopped raving about our food .
Love this place even my 3 small children enjoy it. Best restaurant would definitely recommend x
Well it's the first time my husband and I have visited Whitstable and this restaurant and we both loved the food. The most expensive fish and chips we have ever had but worth every penny. Would definitely go back if we visit area again.
I could've given star plus, plus for the rating! Never dined in a fish restaurant like this before! We tried our first natural oysters! For the main, had my best brown crab. Not that often we can get octopus claws in a fish restaurant unless you go to a Greek restaurant in England. Mussels were amazing too! In addition to this, every staff member was so friendly and helpful! We were glad we found it to celebrate our wedding anniversary!
Now this was a surprise. To get in you have to ring a door bell, sounds like a bit of a speakeasy, a staff member let's you in your taken upstairs, temperature checked, very reassuring and then the experience beginnings. The view over the harbour is fantastic back drop, the staff are very helpful, friendly, know what they are talking about and the food is amazing for people who really like sea food this is the tops, well worth a visit, we spoke to the owner who gave a very knowledgeable account of the area which added to us "out of towners" experience. Thank you we will be back certainly worth the journey. Ps octopus was brilliant
The restaurant is ideally located right by the harbour. The waitresses were very friendly and helpful. The food itself is delicious, especially the oysters. It isn't super cheap but well worth it. Overall Crab & Winkle was definitely the highlight of our day trip to Whitstable.
I was a little nervous when I arrived because of the reviews I read. To my surprise the service was very good. From the time they received us till the time we left.
The food; prepared crab - definitely not fresh.
Scallops blew my mind, lobster Thermidor was brilliant, the skate wing was fresh and beautiful.
This was a good experience
Great value for money, added to my list "to go back" . Seafood fresh and some audacious recipes, like black pudding and scallops. Our octopus was a bit overcooked, which compromise the 5star.
Visit the C&W during the Oyster Festival every year, it's a firm favourite now. Staff are lovely, food is well prepared, fresh and well seasoned and the location is great, right on the harbour... and in the thick of the festival.
Absolutely brilliant meal, surprised how nice it was inside given the unassuming outside. Covid safe, more than anyway else we have visited this week, still taking temps in August 2021 . 3 courses for a.party of 4,everything good and wine list was reasonably priced as well
Lovely atmosphere and view (despite current construction works I think), amazing food and not too expensive either! Staff were lovely too, I would definitely recommend to seafood lovers! Great selection of alcohol too ;)

The food here is really good. I prefer hot seafood platter, other than that i gave two thumbs up.
I will order the whole brawn crab again!
Visited Crab & Winkle on Saturday 17th July, first impression was a well laid out, inviting restaurant, added bonus it was air conditioned. Started with Scallops and Black Pudding, followed by Skate Wing for my partner and Dover Sole for me, washed down with a Pinot Grigio. For dessert we shared a Creme Brulee followed by coffee. Service and food was first class and will look forward to our visit. Recommended....
