Now this was a surprise. To get in you have to ring a door bell, sounds like a bit of a speakeasy, a staff member let's you in your taken upstairs, temperature checked, very reassuring and then the experience beginnings. The restaurant is ideally located right by the harbour. The waitresses were very friendly and helpful. The food itself is delicious, especially the oysters. It isn't super cheap but well worth it. Overall Crab & Winkle was definitely the highlight of our day trip to Whitstable.
I was a little nervous when I arrived because of the reviews I read. To my surprise the service was very good. From the time they received us till the time we left.

Great value for money, added to my list "to go back" . Seafood fresh and some audacious recipes, like black pudding and scallops. Our octopus was a bit overcooked, which compromise the 5star.
Visit the C&W during the Oyster Festival every year, it's a firm favourite now. Staff are lovely, food is well prepared, fresh and well seasoned and the location is great, right on the harbour... and in the thick of the festival.
Absolutely brilliant meal, surprised how nice it was inside given the unassuming outside. Covid safe, more than anyway else we have visited this week, still taking temps in August 2021 . 3 courses for a.party of 4,everything good and wine list was reasonably priced as well
Lovely atmosphere and view (despite current construction works I think), amazing food and not too expensive either! Staff were lovely too, I would definitely recommend to seafood lovers! Great selection of alcohol too ;)
The food here is really good. I prefer hot seafood platter, other than that i gave two thumbs up.
I will order the whole brawn crab again!
