I ate at Samphire with friends on a busy Saturday night. I have to admit from the website and menu, I wasn't particularly sold on the place. How wrong I was! The restaurant is simple and quite compact but tastefully done. The service was excellent; prompt, friendly and efficient. The food was without exception sensational! Top quality ingredients, simply done and bursting with flavour. Every dish we tried (3 courses each and 3 of us dining) was utterly moorish! The kitchen team are utter trojans. No idea how they manage to turn out such high end cuisine in such a small space, with only one cooking. Top notch place, which I'd recommend and return to without hesitation. A brilliant find!
A birthday meal on a busy Saturday night that could have been a disaster when it appeared I’d booked the wrong date. I was rescued by genial and welcoming host Dee, who went out of her way to make the evening great.
Lovely meal; gnocchi with beetroot, and salmon with smoked leeks were super starters. Beautifully moist and tender cod fillets, rainbow chard, smoked cashews and preserved blood orange was an amazing main course. Good selection of cheese followed by a shared slice of cheesecake with the simply sublime fromage blanc sorbet which was outstanding.
I would drive the 100miles from my house to Samphire just to eat that sorbet again.
Highly recommended.
Been a few times now. The staff are so tentative can’t do enough for you. The food is amazing freshly cooked and local produce. Highly recommend this place.
My wife Paula Moon and I thoroughly enjoyed the meal we had here. We both had the asparagus starter which was wonderful, my wife had duck breast with provencal potatoes & I had the fish of the day (mullet) with mash & greens both were beautifully presented & tasted sublime. My wife had creme brule which should have come with banana bread which didn't appeal to my wife so they changed it without issue for one that did (stem ginger ice cream) I had cheesecake with rhubarb & basil again both were gorgeous. We both would heartily recommend this restaurant both for its food & the serving of it & we both will be paying another visit next time we are in Whitstable
My friend and I popped in on a wet Sunday afternoon in search of a late lunch/early dinner. Despite setting up for a large birthday party the staff were only too happy to accommodate us. I reservedly ordered the beef roast and it was delicious. It wasn't cheap at almost £20 but it's better than any roast dinner I have eaten in a very long time. Great service and top class food. Would definitely return. Thank you to everyone at Samphire. ***
I had a delightful lunch at "Samphire" in Whitstable! This dog-friendly restaurant offered a welcoming atmosphere. The Focaccia was a perfect balance of crispy and soft, complemented by the roasted garlic. The Mussels, served with handmade bread, were fantastic, and the Oysters were both tasty and "meaty." A great dining experience overall!
Honestly I went to Oyster Company first because it is popular and famous. But they are just too arrogant and refuse people to walk in. Fine.
Then we walked into this cozy seafood restaurant. We ordered a dozen of oysters to share because they are fresh. So satisfying. I ordered a fish pie. I can find green peas and salmon and some white fish baked inside smashed potatoes and cheese. I love it. My friends ordered lunch special which is a grey mullet in red chilli sauce, and their signature mussels. Surprisingly amazing and will definitely come back again!
Passed by this town impromptu, didn't have any reservation. Was told that have to wait for 1 hour for a table, I'm glad that i waited. The oysters i tried were super fresh and to my liking. And the Calamari was cooked just perfectly that the meat was still juicy and not hard. The service was promptly and staff were very welcoming. They have an extensive drinks list which can suit most people. Would come back to try other dishes.
So was my first day trip to Whitstable, and the weather forecast was down for rain, so we reserved a table at Samphire after checking the reviews. As is the norm in Whitstable, We shared half a dozen fresh, plump Oysters for a starters, Tre bòn👌. Accompanied with a crisp bottle of Muscadet..
For mains, we chose the fish pies, which were delicious and well portioned with a few chunky pieces of Cod and Salmon ....Perfect Pie👍..
We had the sharing Raspberry ice cream desert to finish, and all we had a good time and great food... Only downside, as stated in a couple of other reviews, was that it was a bit pricey, but only due to the service charge and wine mark up!! So be prepared for that, but the restaurant, staff, and food are exceptional ...many thanks!!
An amazing breakfast, so many good options and a lot of choice but if you're a fan of an english breakfast definitely try their twist- the bone-in bacon chop. The best bacon I have had along with their home made hash browns and eggs.
Amazing restaurant. The food was incredible, the starters were next level- including some big fresh oysters. We had the John Dory and it was the best fish dish I have had in the UK.The service was what made our experience though, everyone made us feel so at ease and did everything possible to ensure we had a fantastic meal. Nice desserts and Espresso Martinis too!
Would thoroughly recommend!
Pictures tell a thousand words… well these say it all. The meal was amazing form start to finish, the staff were lovely and the restaurant is great. Top tip.. take a few people so you can try all the dishes
Recommended this lovely little restaurant by a local business owner, and I was massively impressed. Cod croquettes as a starter were delicious, and our mains were sublime. A healthy portion for both of us. I had a bloody Mary which was delicious, wife opted for an Aperol Spritz.
Will definitely be back again to sample the rest of the menu. Fully booked on our visit and we were very lucky to get a table. Thank you all the staff for being so accommodating
Absolutely superb. 6 of us are together and we shared all of the starters, 2 sharing John Dory's and the muscles. It was all amazing. The oysters were incredible, so fresh and big. The John Dory was some of the best fish I've ever had. The kohlrabi was absolutely amazing! It all hit the spot.
The wine and champagne recommendations were fantastic and the espresso martinis were top notch.
The service was great; welcoming fun and knowledgeable.
We loved it so much that we would come back to Whitstable just to come here.
Thank you team
Oysters were super fresh 🦪 😍
Strongly recommend the mussels, the soup was yum and OMG the bread was surprisingly good👌🏻
Steak was average but the side potatoes were delicious! They are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside
Good portion and the staff were friendly☺️
