Loved this place, we visited a few weeks ago and came by this beautiful charasmatic resteraunt by chance as we unexpectidley had to change our holiday plans from a boat trip to a campervan trip and there was a nice park up not too dar away. We both had steak which was delicious and locally produced, a fab bottle of malbec and some lovley starters garnished with pretty flowers. It was my boyfriends birthday and im so glad the owners let us have a table as usually they dont accept walk ins (the owner cooking and wife looking affer guests, everything very fresh so understandable). I absolutly loved the cosy and very quirky decor its was so welcoming as were the hosts. Would love to visit again if ever we are in the area.
We’ve visited this restaurant again after a lovely walk at Yat Rock. It was a sunny and warm day, we sat in the garden with our dog for lunch. Inside is cosy, especially on a rainy/winters day!
I ordered (again!) the sausage, mash and onion gravy main dish, whilst my partner had the steak pie, mash and seasonal veg. Delicious!! It was piping hot, the sausages were very good - tasted as if they were locally sourced (unsure if they were) the gravy was homemade and full of flavour. My favourite dish!
The pie filling was plentiful and lots of vegetables on the side - which they may have been grown in the garden!
The portions are brilliant - great for starving walkers!
The menu is traditional British food made well! You can choose 3 courses here or just a hearty main course, which was perfectly big enough for us.
We highly recommend this place, it’s great homemade food, lovely atmosphere, fantastic service and great location.
Dog & Child friendly!
Quite a magical place. Lots of character. Been three times and there's always something to see that you didn't spot on the first visit. The food is great and some of it is grown on the premises. The host is lovely. Worth quickly diverting into Whitchurch on the way in or out of Wales. Listen out for the cuckoo clock :-)
Came here last night and really enjoyed it. The food is great quality and the menu changes monthly. The service was amazing too and very attentive. Great place to visit if you are staying in the area

I don’t usually make reviews but this place deserves it! What an incredible place! We luckily found The Potting Shed by accident on a long journey and then we felt like we hit the jackpot! Local, grass fed beef, loads of beautiful vegetables and a lovely diverse menu with good vegetarian options too (which I usually go for when there is a lack of information about the meat). The interiors are beautiful with an old-world edge. The couple who own this hidden gem are super friendly, helpful and welcoming too.
What a great unexpected experience. Couldn’t recommend it more (and I have extremely high standards!!!) 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🌟🌟🌟🌟 🌟🌟
Super relaxed and informal, but great food and lovely host.
Arrived, welcomed, seated, watered and fed within a good amount of time. Service brilliant, food spot on and the place has a nice comfortable feel. Highly recommended! Well done to all
Okay for a start we are fussy eaters but we were not disappointed at all. In fact I was blown away by the quality of the food. I decided to go for the lamb and I was not disappointed in anyway whatsoever! We have been to other pubs that seem to have five star reviews where I believe the food and service was diabolical, but then that’s just us but this time you cannot fault the food and the service. I could not recommend this place more, you have to try it.
Lovely welcoming and relaxed place to eat. The most beautifully presented breakfast I have ever had, poached eggs (3!), garnish topped off with a tiny pansy. Have also had lunch there, which was equally good, steak and ale pie - delicious. Now hoping someone is going to take me to one of their candlelight dinners! Not necessary to book but, because of limited space, I always like to call ahead to avoid disappointment. Fair pricing and good quality.
What a great find. Four hungry sailors were served a wonderful breakfast by the lovely owners. My smoked salmon with scrambled eggs were perfect, with lovely creamy eggs and good quality smoked salmon. The confirmed carnivore in the team had the small breakfast.. and he was struggling to pack it all away, and he did say that it consisted of very high quality sausages and bacon...and he is a real expert in these matters!
The building is beautifully decorated in a really interesting way (visit yourself and see, don't just take it from me!) and the owners Shelly and Paul, were the perfect hosts.
Everyone left the table with a contented smile and a full belly, and believe me; we have a good capacity for food, so the portions served were great value....well worth a visit and I heartily recommend it.
It is so good that the "Ancient Mariners" will be visiting regularly from now on!
Les Anciens Marins had another breakfast at the Potting Shed. We received a wonderful welcome from the lovely Shelly, got our order taken quickly and our food and a huge pot of tea arrived. This time I had the small veggie breakfast, which was a lovely change....veggie sausages, egg, potatoes, tomatoes and lovely brown toast. It was perfectly presented, and filled me up! Well worth the money, and heartily recommend.
