It was the Middle Earths first Sunday Lunch and it didn't disappoint. I had the beef and it was so tender, plenty of veg and a delicous cauliflower cheese and the yorkshire pud was spot on and homemade (no frozen here). Deffo be back and may even have room for a pudding next time. Staff were lovely and really helpful too.

Cosy, friendly pub with a restaurant upstairs. Real ales on offer as well as keg, and the staff were welcoming.
A beautiful harbour side pub, stunning interior with great views, friendly staff, great atmosphere we will definitely be making regular return visits soon.

I had high hopes for this place going in. As an avid Lord of the Rings fan I was more than thrilled to see Gollum on the sign. I went in and had half. The pub is dog friendly and has great views of the harbour. It also has an outdoor seating area. Inside, they provide table service. There is a pool table and darts board. We had to sit with another couple which was weird. They were nice. The pub was playing music videos on the TV. They were rather loud. If you like Lord of the rings, this isn't the place for you. If you are after quick drink and a community feel this is the place to be.

A nice pubā¦ but with the name āMiddle Earth tavernā it needs to be so much more! With a Gollum/SmĆ©agol hanging sign, itās pretty disappointing inside as thereās no further LOTR references. Quite odd. Very sanitised and with a strange table service setup (even just for drinks), we left feeling perplexed. Nice, but not nerdy enough.
Nice pint, good service, welcoming atmosphere š, I was there on goth weekend, so it was busy, waited about 10 mins for a seat, definitely use again

Although away from the main hustle and bustle of Whitby town, middle earth tavern is a great find for those looking. The atmosphere is fantastic and large booths shared by locals and tourists means you can strike a conversation with others if youre willing. Staff made you feel very welcome and the added touch of table service made us feel very accommodated. I'd recommend to anyone visiting Whitby.
Another understated (from the outside) pub. Great service and like the way tables and chairs are set up that encourage you to sit with others. Perhaps not to everyone's liking but I think it is a great idea.
We walked here from the town, and just dropped in for a drink. We didnāt go inside, as it was such a gorgeous day, we sat out the front of the pub in the sunshine.
The two girls who were serving were friendly and attentive, and the beer was in excellent condition.

What a cracking pub this is, we enjoyed a fine selection of real ales whilst sat outside enjoying the views of the river Esk estuary. The tables were scrupulously cleaned after each & every visitor, which was very reassuring. And the best bit is they are still serving drinks at the tables. Great staff, a real winner for me š

This is our favourite pub to visit when we are at Whitby, always greated with a warm welcome. Nice clean pub, nice and friendly atmosphere and brilliant table service. Will be back next summer.
One of the best bars in Whitby. We stay near the harbour and this is our first bar we go to. Excellent service and a good atmosphere.
Have to take your own water for dogs and bowl they donāt provide it
