I’ve wanted to try out this restaurant for so long and trust me. It did NOT disappoint. Everything was perfect! The atmosphere and decor was amazing. Staff was so friendly and welcoming. Food was incredible! The fish pie was next level 😍 and so was the mussels! Such a treat and such a special experience. Would recommend!

Ended up managing to book last minute for a table of 5 just before the lunch time rush and was over the moon! I have walked by this place many times I'm the past in search for 'traditional fish and chips', but not anymore. This place is not to be missed at all. Quality food from start to finish.

My favourite meal in Whitby! Not sure why we have never visited. The Star in Whitby on previous visits, we had the most amazing Birthday celebration meal. The food: 🍖 My partner chose pork with rhubarb chutney, and egg and hash with black pudding. 🥩🍤 As it was a special occasion I chose surf and turf with a charcuterie salad and fries. So so good! 🦪Oysters! My first time trying them! Honestly have no idea why I put this off so long. If you like sushi, go for it 😂 they were great. One was raw, with Asian flavours and pink ginger. The other was grilled with chorizo butter. Amazing. 🍤🐟 Prawn and salmon cocktail. My partner chose this but it was like no prawn cocktail I have ever seen before. He was so impressed with how nice it was. Lovley seafood served with crackers and a seaweed garlic butter roll. 🍧Rhubarb and custard sundae. My partner chose this massive but amazing pud with popping candy and parkin. 🍫🍋Chocolate mouse with lemon and lime. I shared this with my mum and it was truly amazing ! Rich and tangy, reminiscent of a chocolate lime. A must try when in the are this place is brilliant and we couldn't fault it !

Have just had a great meal here. Deri waiting on was lovely and the guests next table loved her. I had salt n pepper calamari and roast cod bouillabaisse. Both very tasty. Highly recommended. I think if I had been any later I would have not got in.

Absolutely love the Star Inn the Harbour! So easy to book via Google, attentive staff, brilliant service and fantastic food. I have a milk allergy and staff go above and beyond to cater for me. Cocktails are excellent too! Highly recommend!

This place has a lovely atmosphere and the staff were really nice. Some dishes were delicious (roasted garlic mushrooms on toast and the fish cake), whilst other dishes were just ok (the squid and also the broth of the mussels marinière lacked flavour) which was a tiny bit disappointing

This restaurant is truely excellent, very well fitted out with great views of Whitby. A very friendly welcome with really good service. The food was excellent, well presented, tasted as good as it looked. We would certainly recommend the Hot/Cold fish sharing platter for two.

Very friendly staff, superb food and great local ale, we couldn't have asked for more from The Star. Complete with a lovely little childrens menu which my son thoroughly enjoyed, The Star offers an up market selection of food incorporating all the classic sea side favourites and equally as delicious, less traditional dishes. The staff were really on form and friendly and there are clear signs that the restaurant is still taking Covid restrictions seriously without being too in your face about it which, in my books, is a definite plus. In addition to the great food and friendly staff the restaurant manages to combine ships rigging, christmasesque stars and geometric jelly fish seemingly effortlessly and to great effect providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Amazing shellfish platter! This place was a great find as neither of us had tried much shellfish before so we thought we would give a go and were so glad we did. Everything on the platter tasted amazing and we even braved the oysters. We ordered parmesan and truffle fries along with beef dripping chips, both worked well with the platter. They also had a great wine selection. Great restaurant to try if your in Whitby

Me and the wife had a good and fair priced meal here. The food tasted great and the salad part was very fresh! We couldn't fit in dessert but after walking around the town, we went back to the ice cream shop which is part of the restaurant and picked up a great tasting ice cream. Staff are friendly but still professional, the restaurant clean but not sterile. We had a 2 course meal for £20 each. The ice creams we picked up came to £3.30 each for two large scoops.
