We stayed here for 6 nights for our honeymoon in mid Sept 23. The house is very picturesque from the outside and sympathetically decorated inside. In the nicest sense, it had a Faulty Towers feel to it. The staff were lovely and very helpful and warm. The room rate included breakfast and evening meal but, as nice as the food was, the menu didn't change all week so we ate out a few times. There is only one veggie option for dinner which was rather disappointing. The location is excellent, being just a short drive from Sandsend beach and also Whitby is very near. It's a very secluded, peaceful location but unfortunately, we were in room 18. This room is directly above the kitchen and the chef seemed to enjoy playing club music for the entirety of his shift- 7.30am to 9pm. We didn't complain about this as it improved mid week with a change of chef. The room was massive with an impressively high, firm bed. We had a separate bathroom which housed a lovely deep bath and roomy shower. In all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it. Not sure if having the dinner option is worth it though.

We had a lovely stay. Our room was fantastic and the food was tremendous. Its a lovely building and the staff are very friendly and will do anything to make your stay enjoyable. The bar and lounge are very cosy and atmospheric. The food in the restaurant was lovely. Its a slightly traditional place but that's part of the charm I think. We had the dinner (3 course) bed and breakfast package and it was great value.

Very nice hotel. We stayed in room 16 which was massive. On first appearance it didn't appear to be the most child friendly environment as the majority of people visiting seemed to be of an older generation however the staff and other visitors were very welcoming of us having our children with us and didn't mind them being in the bar area in the evening. We booked four rooms in total for all of us as it was a 60th birthday. The lady who was 60 was fist placed in a room that was a little too warm for them as it had the boiler in the same room as them. After asking at reception they were moved to by far the best room in the entire hotel and we greatly appreciate that. Hotel was immaculately clean throughout and quiet throughout the entire time we were there. Hotel staff were happy to book us taxis to take us into the town in the evening and the breakfast was lovely. Thank you for a great stay we look forward to coming back again soon

Lovely place. Our room was beautiful and clean as were all areas. However, it was tropical! Our bedroom was 27 degrees! The dining room was sweltering as were all public areas. The evening dinner was so so, but the staff were surly and scruffy! The breakfast was delicious! The staff in the morning were lovely and proffesional. Bit of a mixed bag.

Super value! The hotel is a very attractive country house, nicely restored. The common rooms are comfortable and beautifully panelled in oak, an interesting place. The staff are great and the food plentiful and very tasty. It is a mile and a half from Sandsend, which is a lovely and interesting little place and close to Whitby. The sunset is nice too. Well worth a visit.

Great value. Food excellent. Staff very helpful and welcoming. Thankyou Helen There was a problem with the shower but there was also a bath . We stayed with our dog, eating in the bar but were treated as if in the dining room. Lovely old building in beautiful surrounds. Looking to visiting again.

This hotel is a beautiful old style country hotel, in a good location. If you are booking for a £99 deal, my advice is to get an upgrade on your room. My friend and I didn’t and only found out this morning as we were leaving, how much better other rooms were. We were in room 8 for two nights and although the room was nice and the beds were very comfortable, the mattresses need renewing as underneath , they were stained but did have clean toppers / protectors on. We had unpacked ( for two nights) but unfortunately the shower was only tepid and very limited pressure wise. The bath plug also wouldn’t fit and therefore wouldn’t hold water. We reported this and they sent someone promptly to look but unfortunately they couldn’t fix either. We were offered to move rooms but had unpacked after a long journey, so declined and we were offered a bottle of wine. The restaurant and staff were incredible and were friendly, efficient and welcoming. The food was initially lukewarm but this was corrected the next evening. Also a good selection of dishes to choose from. Nothing was too much trouble. The other guests were also lovely and it was fun. The hotel was beautiful, needs a little attention in part but value for money. It would be an ideal place for a murder mystery I my opinion! Plenty of parking. Despite my obvious complaints, I would return in a heartbeat with an upgrade. Well done to all the staff who work so hard to cover all areas. I will definitely visit again. Thank you all for making our stay so memorable.

A warm welcome and large comfortable rooms plus a very good breakfast and dinner with all the trimmings made the stay very enjoyable. Close to Whitby and the coastal resorts offering sandy beaches, pools and craggy cliffs. There are great walking trails in the area too. Great for exploring.

We stayed at Dunsley over the Jubilee Holiday. I booked the stay for my partner's 60th birthday. When I made the initial telephone call and spoke to Victoria, I was advised that as we were bringing our dogs, 'The 'Den' might be a better choice for us, rather than a room in the house. I'm so pleased that I went with that advice, as the Den was indeed perfect for us and with two dogs, gave us the space to relax properly. It was warm, cozy and quiet and the quick access to the garden was great for our dogs and very much appreciated. The ease of eating in the restaurant, took all of the stress out of finding a 'dog friendly' eatery elsewhere and ensured we could concentrate on the delicious food that was on offer. It makes such a pleasant change to find good quality linen and napkins on the tables and efficient and friendly staff to serve the great choice of food. The attention to detail was again, noticed and appreciated. Breakfast was excellent, the coffee divine. Our food was always served at a perfect temperature, by pleasant, friendly staff and the wait was minimal. The location of Dunsley is just perfect, within walking distance to beautiful Sands End and at night the only thing you can hear is birdsong. Idyllic!!

Lovely position and historic house but ground floor room had no privacy - people sitting on lawn outside our windows so we often had to close curtains. Food okay, breakfast good. Service in dining room good but receptionist was often AWOL which meant we had to wait around to hand in our key every time we went out (as requested). No working WI Fi anywhere, even staff said it was rubbish.

Wonderful stay in a stunning, quiet location. Can't fault the room, food or staff. Room was clean and comfortable, staff were wonderful, the food was tasty and plenty of choices were available. Fabulous value for money and plenty to see and do in the area. Thoroughly enjoyed our short break. Will be returning without a doubt.

A beautiful building in a beautiful setting. Had a large room that was very clean and well presented. Had excellent service from every member of staff who were all very friendly. The meal we had at night was one of the best and my compliments to the chef it was delicious from start to finish. The service in the restaurant was very good. Would definitely recommend and look forward to visiting again. Thank you for an enjoyable stay.
