Driving down from Northumbria to Essex, we decided we couldn't pass Whitby and not visit. I looked up fish and chips and we chose The Fishermans Wife. Great choice. The small haddock and chips was perfect for me (the batter really light and crisp), and step mums fish pie was, she said, delicious. The rhubarb cheesecake was also really tasty...not too sweet, and very light. The only downside was the noise from the kiddies roundabout outside the window which was a bit intrusive, but there were plenty of other tables we could have sat at away from the window.

Called in for late lunch yesterday - we chose a whole lobster in garlic butter and king prawns to share with salads and chips and 6 oysters on ice - and a cold glass of wine - I’ve got to say it was the best and biggest lobster wev ever had !! Plenty for 2 people ! The only thing i would say is skinny fries would have gone better but I’m only mentioning that not as a complaint just a suggestion because it was fabulous

Always our first meal when we come up to whitby, we love it! Such lovely staff, and very accommodating when food isn’t on the menu but we’ve had before. P.s the sauce vierge is to die for, would love the recipe

Loved the fish/chips/bread but bit on the pricey side as you have to pay extra for the mushy peas and cup of tea whereas a lot of places include all the above for the same price or less. I'd shop around in future.

Best fish and chips ever. Melt in your mouth cod. And mushy peas to die for. Plus the view and friendly service. Can't wait to go back again!

Delicious lunchtime meal for the five of us. Great view watching the waves crash and the rain lash at the windows! Mini egg cheesecake for dessert was amazing. Great first visit 😁

It was our first visit to this restaurant as we usually eat somewhere at the other end of town. We found the service good and the food to be excellent having the crab salad and haddock and chips. The desserts were equally good. Well recommended.

Went with the family yesterday, I had the cod and chips, the batter on the fish was light and crispy, chips were perfect, all of us enjoyed the food. The restaurant was very busy and staff rushed off their feet , think a return visit will definitely be on the cards.

As I stepped into The Fisherman's Wife Whitby, I knew I was in for a treat. The warm and welcoming atmosphere, combined with the friendly and attentive staff, immediately put me at ease. Our server was knowledgeable and helpful, guiding us through the menu with enthusiasm and expertise. But it was the food that truly stole the show. We started with oysters and wine, which were simply divine. The oysters were fresh and succulent, and the wine pairing was perfect. Next up was the fish pie, which was an unforgettable combination of flavors and textures. The seafood was tender and flaky, and the creamy sauce added a richness and depth that was simply heavenly. The fish and chips was another highlight - a classic dish done to perfection. The fish was crispy and golden, and the chips were cooked to a perfect crunch. And the portion was enormous! We also tried the langoustines in batter, which were simply exquisite. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, they were a delight to eat. But what really made our experience special was the stunning view from the restaurant. As we sat down at our table, we were treated to a breathtaking vista of the harbor and the iconic lighthouses. It was the perfect accompaniment to our meal, and we found ourselves gazing out the window in wonder as we savored each bite. Throughout the meal, the service was top-notch. Our server was friendly and efficient, and the team worked together seamlessly to ensure that our every need was met. The atmosphere was lively and convivial, with a warm and welcoming vibe that made us feel right at home. In short, our experience at The Fisherman's Wife Whitby was nothing short of exceptional. With its outstanding food, excellent service, and stunning views of the harbor, this restaurant is a must-visit for anyone who loves seafood. We can't wait to go back! Recommended for: Seafood lovers, foodies, and anyone looking for a friendly and welcoming dining experience with a view.

This is one the best restaurants we visited during our trip in the UK. We don't expected found this restaurant in Whitby. Enjoyed delicious food with beautiful scenery, assisted by friendly and helpful staffs. Price is acceptable compare to its rivals. We love the fresh oysters, lobsters salad and Fish Cake which was made from potatoes with fish. The fish and chips quite big portions for us, Asian people.

Wonderful experience. The food is delicious 😋. The staff are friendly and professional. The building is very appropriate for the location.. the Seaview is good. I love the booths. There are round tables also, for groups. Many happy families were celebrating birthdays whilst we had lunch, but all very considerate of other tables. Extremely lovely 😍 place to enjoy a meal.

When I researched Whitby, The Fisherman's Wife became an absolutely definite port of call. Not wanting to get there late I followed the harbour front and mistakenly went round to the back of the restaurant on the lower level, having to ring to get directions. (I should have used Google Maps in the first place). The food lived up to its promise.

You can't come to Whitby and not have a slap up fish and chip supper can you! Granted it's not as cheap as it once was, and sitting in as opposed to take away adds further to the price. I must say this was excellent though, only a few other people inside so there was only a minimal wait for the food and drinks. Service was friendly and the atmosphere of the restaurant was very nice. Meal was excellent, but then if it wasn't I don't think any restaurant doing fish and chips is Whitby would survive 😁 Top end of price, but I would say worth it as the food was pretty much perfect.

It was such a pleasant experience in here. Me and my bf went there for lunch, and we sat in a lovely booth with a sea view. I ordered mussels cooked in white wine and cream sauce. My bf had the prawn cocktail. As a main we both had the lobster thermidor. The quality of food here is top notch. And service from staff was excellent. Our server Eammon in particular really looked after us well and made sure everything was ok. I highly recomend this place if you are looking for a nice seafood meal. We will definitely visit here again if we come back to Whitby.

What a lovely place and great views to look at while you eat. They have great vegan options. I had cauliflower katsu with salad. My wife just wanted a salad and the staff was more than willing to make this happen e even though it wasn't on the menu. The food was so tasty and fresh and the staff was so helpful. I'd definitely go back here again.
