Loved it ....loved it....loved it! A great all round experience from the friendly fantastic service, the decor and relaxing decor through to an exceptional afternoon tea. We were so full we couldn't manage the stepping stones on our way back to the car.

Wondering where we could get refreshment on a rainy Saturday afternoon and the tea room came to mind. Owned by the lovely Ellie, Sarah and Paul, these 3 really work hard alongside there staff to make customers welcome. We had broccoli and Stilton soup which was so tasty I didn’t stop to get a picture of it. Beautifully presented and really tasty with fresh fluffy bread! My partner is GF but that wasn’t an issue as they got him a gluten free bun to enjoy with his. The hot chocolates with cream, marshmallows and a flake! where luxury after a damp cold morning. We finished off with sticky toffee pudding and custard. Real comfort food on a day like today. A beautiful environment with so much to look at. Classic well present wholesome food and great company. They couldn’t do enough for us.

Good cuppa and cake after a hike over the Moors. They also do good for the more hungry. Indoor seating available, but we sat outside over looking the river and bridge. Parking available on site.

2021 5 star: Good service, good food. Would recommended. 2022 Update 4 star : The service is a little slower but seemed to be busy. The menu is slightly reduced and at they time, they had some items unavailable. Some deserts were not home made anymore, but this is understandable if there are less people coming through. The staff were really friendly and helpful. There was a good atmosphere.

Delicious food prepared with care and passion. Plenty of parking, a restful atmosphere and tea in a proper tea pot. (Photo: Salmon and asparagus quiche)

We first found this lovely cafe last year shortly after the new owners moved in and enjoyed it so much we returned this year to see how they are doing. I had a lovely home made quiche with salad which was large and tasty. My wife had a scone with cream and jam. Glad they are doing well and hope to return another year. Recommend this cafe and this village for a visit.

We were staying locally and had heard good reports of Shepherds Hall so we thought we'd pop in and give it a try. So pleased we did. Everything was as good as we'd been led to believe. ( actually in all honesty it was better than that ) Shortly after eating there, I noticed an immediate increase in my popularity, my dress sense improved and the next day I won the lottery! How they manage that with just a ploughman's is nothing short of a miracle. I can't say the same will happen to you but isn't it worth a go? Great place, great people, thank you.

Googled somewhere different to go and this popped up. What a gem! Open sandwiches were awesome and fruit scones Jan and cream yum yum. 3 cups of tea each or of one pot. Excellent value for the quality. Owners were so kind and accommodating felt more like their home. Thank you

Lovely tea room with very friendly service. Tea room itself is up some steps, but has a nice tea garden to sit outside in the summer. Also has its own car park which is a bonus again in summer when it can be hard to find somewhere to park.

Stopped off in the pretty village of Lealholm, whilst driving over the moors. It was lunch time so visited these tea rooms. So glad we did, proper homemade soup and excellent tea, served in China cups. Friendly and efficient service all at a reasonable price.
