Visited this Lunchtime with family. Two of which are over 85 years old and one is wheelchair bound and has only use of one arm. I cannot thank the wonderful wait staff enough! Every single staff member had a huge welcoming smile and were very polite. Our main server was a young dark haired lady (unfortunately didn’t catch her name) who went out of her way on more than one occasion to accommodate our needs. We had to request that my great aunts food be pre cut for her as only having use of one arm she cannot use a knife and fork, they happily did so, my grandmother is extremely fussy about how she likes her coffee so she explained exactly what she wanted and how she wanted it and they made it perfectly! The food was absolutely delicious and the creme brûlée was one of the best I’ve tasted! Our server would check back regularly to ensure we had drinks, if we needed sauces, see how we were enjoying our meal and was lovely and chatty whilst we were paying and clearing away the table. Overall a really enjoyable experience and will definitely return!

Busy sunny Saturday afternoon so thought we’d struggle to get seated and fed. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly, sorted us out a table straight away, good selection of beers at the bar, food order was taken quickly and the food arrived promptly. Quality of food was excellent and the staff were absolutely fantastic, nothing was too much trouble, it makes a nice change to be treated like that, well done whoever is in charge, your staff are a credit to you and your business.

Absolutely fantastic pub. Staff are always brilliant and helpful, not one bad thing to say about this place and we go A LOT! Brilliantly run pub with a great atmosphere, always correcting a mistake if one ever be made. Love the Aspinall Arms.

This place is extraordinarily good. The atmosphere, the service, the food, the beer, the setting, it's all perfect. The staff are superb, very attentive and polite and nothing is too much trouble for them. The pub is dogfriendly which goes a long way for me and our Lab was looked after as well as we were. Difficult to imagine that this is part of a chain as it has the feel of an exceptionally well run sole trader.

Apparently the Queen wants to retire to the Ribble Valley - who can blame her? It's a beautiful area of the country, with rolling hills, babbling brooks, Roman ruins and some of the best pubs and restaurants in the country. I'm convinced that a pretty view makes the food taste better too.  The Aspinall Arms in Mitton near Clitheroe used to be a pub we drove past on our way to The Three Fishes. When it was suggested we take a trip, I remembered it being in Mitton, but that was about it. About seven years ago we had just discovered Nigel Haworth's Ribble Valley Inns , and thought no-one would ever come close to their amazing home cooked pub food. Then folk started to considerably up their game. We no longer had to drive for an hour to get food worthy of the Good Food Guide; the Hearth of the Ram and Eagle and Child  opened in Ramsbottom, and Manchester got the belly warming Beef and Pudding . The new breed of gastropub have been popping up everywhere ever since. This is great news for greedy folk like me, because there are more places to sample.  The modern 'pub grub' establishment is a far cry from the wildly patterned carpeted, smoky kind of gaff serving up scampi and chicken in a basket, whilst the the football on the telly talks to itself in the background. These days it's all about roaring fires in the winter, al fresco dining in the summer, and more often than not, chalk paint in duck egg blue. After extensive renovation in 2014, The Aspinall Arms is a real contender in the area. Some of our family live nearby, and were excited to take us there to try it for ourselves. We went on a Saturday evening (post cake club might I add...), when it was just starting to get busy. I needed something savoury more than I needed oxygen (slight exaggeration - granted).  We had a good look at the cask selection whilst we waited for the rest of our party to arrive, w

All round great pub - nicely located with large garden to Riverside, excellent food and friendly staff. Starters: pork belly was crisp and tasty, not too fatty but marbled as you would expect. Scallops with black pudding was highly rated by Sharon (a scallop fiend). Mediterranean tomato tart "delicious" according to son Ben. Mains: shoulder of lamb "brilliant, melts in the mouth" said Ben. Cheese and onion pie "definitely in my top 3" according to cheese pie guru Sharon. Halibut "beautifully presented and very tasty" from my Mum.

Absolutely brilliant all around! We went for a late lunch/early dinner yesterday and we were beyond impressed. Staff were all absolutely lovely and helpful, the atmosphere was nice and the food was incredible - everything was very fresh and full of flavour. We were also so happy as they had an allergen menu - I have a dairy allergy and it can be such a headache trying to work out with pub staff what I can and can't have, this made it so easy (not to mention the staff took it very seriously and were very helpful). It's set on the river with beautiful views up the hill - if it had been a bit warmer we would have sat outside. They have really lush gardens as well. Next time we're in the area we will definitely be back. Highly highly recommend - we were actually planning to go to another local pub but it ended up with a wedding on and I'm so happy we went here instead - it was perfect!

Popped in on the way past for a quick bite and really enjoyed it. Nice clean, dog friendly, pub with an excellent range of beer. The place was just busy enough to have a nice buzz and the Steak burger I had was superb. I only wish I lived closer.

Went for Sunday lunch with my husband as they have a vegan nut roast. It was busy but service was excellent and we sat in the side room to the left of the fireplace in the bar. Ordered vegan feta salad with courgette and sun-dried tomato, crispy polenta and king oyster scallops with pea puree. Mains were nut roast and Malaysian curry and every mouthful was delicious and the dishes nicely presented. We left clean plates. Prior to our visit I checked the wine list and found several vegan wines so ordered Raimat Albarino and The Guvnor Temperanillo. Shame they don't label which wines are vegan on the wine list. I hope The Aspinall continues to add more varied vegan options on the menu but I hope they never remove that nut roast..it's a cracker of a dish. I meet with friends once a month and we love The Aspinall and its handy for us all to visit. I chose the vegan Shepherds pie and my friend said she had seen the vegan dish I had on our last few visits and looked so good she was having the Shepherds pie too. Our other friend had fish and chips, then sticky toffee pudding. The food was fabulous, the vegan Shepherds pie went down a treat, my friend loved it and I think it changed her impression of vegan food. The pie was substantial, satisfying and absolutely delicious and our other friend loved her food too. I hope The Aspinall continue to offer vegan options and not just risotto or curry (so boring and on too many menus as the vegan choice if I want either I'd go to an Indian or Italian). I can't wait to see what's on next months menu.

Was stuck between 4 and 5 star, so I thought I would round it up. We came in on a fairly quiet Tuesday with our dog who was as well looked after as us (which is a plus!) We went for olives, bang bang cauliflower for starters then the vegan mushroom pie and the cauliflower Milanese. The pie came with cabbage, mash and a halved carrot. The carrot and mash were great, cooked to my liking. Smooth mash, slight bite to the carrot. The cabbage was slightly under for me, and a little under-seasoned too. The pie was good, however! And that’s the star of the show. I preferred the cauliflower Milanese, it was a huge portion (good for us, we can eat…) and had a lot more flavour. It had a really nice texture and crunchy exterior which went really nice with the softer pasta bed. If I was being super critical, the pasta sauce was slightly acidic for me, but that’s my preference! The mixed olives starter was more a bowl of black olives with 2 green ones and the bang bang cauliflower was good, albeit expensive for 3 and a half small florets. I wouldn’t go for this again, personally. Whilst this sounds like a middle ground review, we thoroughly enjoyed the meal and we will be back again, maybe not in a rush. But it serves a purpose as a pub that does good, hearty, comforting food. Granted, it’s not Michelin star, but that’s not what we went for. Aspinall knows its place and executes it very well. It doesn’t try to be anything other than what it’s good at. Friendly staff, quick service (but not rushed) and a nice coffee to finish (makes all the difference). It’s nice to see a place kept clean (or at least the areas I saw) with nicely kept toilets too. Thanks for a great lunch!

A beautiful pub in the middle of the countryside. Easily found and very welcoming staff, the food today was excellent as was the service. The only negative point was the Black Forest sundae which did not seem very cherry at all which was a disappointment. That however was the only negative point, certainly one to return to.

Took my mum to celebrate mother's day went on the Saturday rather than the Sunday. We booked a table and arrived early which wasn't an issue. We had a drinks order taken then enough time to browse the menu we orders starter and main courses and deserts. The starters we had the scallops and my mum had the prawns pill pill, then for main the feather steak cooked in beer. I had the hake cassoulet. Now the food tasted lovely but the food was luke warm as best. Which spoiled it to be fair, for the starter to be luke warm and then the main clearly an issue in the kitchen maybe leaving food out too long before serving. It's put me off this place which is a shame as that's the only issue I had. If I'd have been with my daughter I would have complained about it. But being with my mum she's didn't want me to make a fuss. So I didn't want to spoil her day. The staff were lovely so not a issue there. So thanks kitchen maybe check temperature of good before serving.

Overall Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️ Price For Food/Drinks ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Overall the price of the food/drinks were okay. The portion sizes are very large. All mains we received were very large which was very good for everyone. However drinks are a little on the more expensive side but it’s okay. Food obviously is a little more expensive but you definitely pay for what you get. High end and high quality Speed of Service: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ On this particular day the speed of service was fantastic. The main Front of House was great and the team there was really respectful, very well mannered and polite. The service we received from our Waiter was fantastic. SHe remembered all our orders from memory and also all sides which was fantastic. Food Quality: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Overall quality of my food was fantastic and very high quality. All dishes were very flavourful. No complaints from any members of our party. Restaraunt Cleanliness: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The overall cleanliness was really high. High levels of cleanliness and regular cleaning.

Celebrated our anniversary and had a delicious meal at lunchtime. The food was hot and plentiful with excellent fresh ingredients. The desserts were delicious and completed the meals. Will definitely be returning in the very near future. 5*

The outdoor area where we sat was very nice and has a great view of the river Ribble. We didn't have any food, but the beer was a reasonable price. It is dog friendly and children seem to be welcome. Our 3 yo was with us when we visited.

Our first visit to the Aspinall for almost 10 years. What an amazing transformation. The new dining area more than trebles the available space. The food was very nice and the service was superb. If it wasn't for the 60 mile round trip to get there we would be regulars once again. Highly recommended.

Beautiful old pub with a great cosy atmosphere and friendly staff. Menu prices are slightly higher for a 'pub menu', but the food quality and menu choices more than reflect this. We had a lovely evening, and it was one of the best meals my wife and I have had.

Me and my mum went for lunch today. I don’t usually write reviews but the food was that exceptional I had to. The service was great, and it’s located in a beautiful setting next to the river ribble. Two very enthusiastic thumbs up for Aspinall Arms.
