We came to Billy Winters the first week it opened and fell in love it straight away. Quirky bar/restaurant set up in a porter cabin right on the beachfront over-looking the kite surfing. Fantastic food served in a down to earth way, cocktails to die for - try the Amaretto Sour! We come back a few times a year and as it's expanded it's managed to get better without losing its appeal. The addition of the good toilets was welcome. Top chefs came originally from the awesome crab house cafe I believe - not sure if it's still the case but food still excellent. Great venue come rain or shine - sit out on the beach in the summer or snuggle inside during winter - I love the seats that line the window so you can watch the water sports whilst you eat.
I run a holiday home and always recommend this place to guests and so far only had good reports back.
Total perfection, I didn’t want to leave! We made a mission to head here for coffee and breakfast this morning and weren’t disappointed. The service was impeccable, the staff super friendly. I was provided with a gluten free version of one of the breakfasts on the menu -which was divine and the chef even checked which herbs and spices I would like it cooked with. Very dog friendly and with coffee and those surroundings what else do you need � Thankyou!
Visited for the first time yesterday. I had aubergine wrap and hubby had buttermilk chicken taco both delicious. Lovely location & friendly staff. A hidden gem!!
Love love love it... One of the best/ coolest places to eat, chill and basically enjoy the best view in the west. The chimichanga was amazing. 10/10
Took our 6 kids here today for lunch after Portland Castle. They loved it! Most of us had seafood but we have a couple who aren’t keen so they had pizza! All was lovely food and I had a lovely Mojito. Can’t beat sitting outside by the sea! Will definitely be back when we are back in the area!
Good location and environment. The best place for Watersports. Beach is clean. On a good day, this’s somewhere people will go to for a leisurely time. Plus, Billy winters cafe serves delicious food and drinks. Excellent!
Gluten free beer, Moules frites and a relaxed vibe. Couldn’t be happier. Love this place.

Great views and friendly staff. Had opportunity to try Crab house gin beautifully served with a juniper berry peppercorn and lime ice bomb. On a warm sunny day beat place to be.
Love it here! It has a really funky feel to it. Great food & drinks, friendly staff, and it’s in such an awesome location with great views of the harbour.
Great place to stop by when walking with our dogs, just the place to take a break when walking the Rodwell Trail. Look out for their dogfriendly social sticker supporting a local scheme.🐶🐶

Great place to enjoy a drink by the sea while the kids are in the water on a SUP.
Amazing bistro and Café at Chesil Beach! An absolute MUST visit when in Portland or nearby. Fresh oysters, amazing crab tacos or fish n chips (also various veggie or meaty options available). Absolutely dog friendly and great to watch the surfers nearby.
Really nice vibe here, it’s a lovely place to go for food or just to stop for drink. We opted for some food and went for pizza’s and the squid rings which were delicious. Would 100% recommend

Short but very creative menu for what we expected to be a simple beach bar. The squid burgers are fantastic! Good fried calamari and nice ale too… Good service and reasonable prices.

Food was delicious and well priced for the area. Service was attentive and it had a really cool Beach vibe, with food to match! A great little place with free parking of course if you can get a space in the little parking area.

Queue to get in but that shows the quality of this venue. Three options, 1. Grab a table outside, 2. Wait for a undercover table or 3. Sit inside restaurant. We took the latter and wasnt disappointed especially as having our 9 month old granddaughter with us as it was a sunny day and we didn't need to worry about her getting to hot or the sun in her eyes.
This is not fast food it's a venue to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the superb views (even from inside) but the wait is worth it, the fish and chips are delicious as were the oysters mmmmmm ok mixed review there but I loved the fresh taste of my one and only farmed less than 300 yards away.
The vibe, friendliness of the staff, quality of food and location in my mind makes this place spot on, I could of stayed all day and just chilled out.
So this place is aimed at adults (absolutely no issue there) but is kid friendly and on Good Friday loads of kids having lunch, yes as the '1 star warrior' put there is no kids menu but theres plenty of food, drinks (check out the milk shakes) and high chairs available to keep kids happy. Ask for a spare plate and share, portions are big enough, just use your imagination on what's available.

First time visit: felt like stepping into a movieset for an A grade surfs up movie. Atmosphere is great, background music, as is the quality of the food, drinks and people working here. Thanks for the warm welcome Georgia!
The beauty of rare gems like these is that they are unequivocally authentic and you can tell by the walls, tables, little trinkets, even the toilets and more. Furthermore my compliments for farming and producing their own oysters. Fresh and delicious.
Also a great location, because they're at the beach... it adds to the Billy Winters experience. Easily reachable by private/public transport as well and even good ln a windy day, because you are protected from the wind by marquee.
Also when you come here, ask about the reason why it is called Billy Winters, it is a funny story.

We didn't eat here today but stopped off for a drink during our walk. Interestingly decorated with a lovely vibe and great seating inside and out with view's over Portland breakwater. We had a hot chocolate, bit disappointing as the over riding taste was off milk with not alot of chocolate. Dorset Pale Ale was very nice, bill was about £9.Good , friendly service and the food that came out looked fabulous.
After a lovely day by the seaside where else would you chill but Billy Winters. Hackney cheque by the beach, great rustic atmosphere, smiling staff and delicious and unique street food, all with the feel of a cool beach side bar.
Lovely place too eat by the sea it must be even better in the sun! Amazing gluten free choice on the menu, we had the fish and chips which are gluten free as standard. Portion size was good and probably some of the best fish and chips I've ever had. My son had a pizza which he gave 10/10 and we also had some oysters. We'll definitely be back next year!

Fantastic location! 13 of us turned up on Bank Holiday Saturday. Even though it was very busy we were seated no problem. The staff were lovely and opened up a section of the tent wall for us to let in the breeze. I had the crab tacos and my OH had the burger, both very tasty. Everyone enjoyed their food. A great lunch with a fabulous view!
Fabulous place, wonderful location best fish and chips. Great friendly staff too. Best place around.
We didn't stop as we only wanted a light bite. Looked a great place tho.
