Another fine lunch with Dratin and his charming wife and staff. Despite the comfortable dining room, I like the tables in the bar where, unlike so many dining pubs nowadays, the locals are still drop in for a pint. These tables are especially cosy in winter next to the fire. Set lunch starters included a Thai croquette with wilted kale, lightly spiced and with a delicious sesame dressing. The prefect starter which thrills the taste buds but leaves you wanting more. A lacCarte starters could be nearby Chequers Estate grass fed beef short rib or main courses of a substantial seafood pie or glazed Saddleback pork belly. I had the set lunch main course of slow braised lamb fillet with a perfectly pink middle plus mint infused gravy and mash both effortlessly executed. The excellent cheese selection is kept and served in perfect condition especially the Cropwell Bishop (Notts Stilton) and the award-wining Golden Cross goat's cheese. Placate your sweet tooth with the ginger cake & rum spiced pineapple or the cunningly deconstructed Chequers Black Forest gateaux. The wine list is also good quality with some wonderful surprises from Hungary. If this is pub dining, it's right at the very upward extreme. Efficient and friendly service from young staff just add to the enjoyment. Worth travelling for.

This in my mind is the best restaurant in the entire country. I have eaten in a number of top restaurants that hold prestigious star ratings and they do not come close to the food and service you will receive here. I found this gem whilst on a course at nearby RAF Halton and have returned here on every trip to the area since. I also like to make the hour and 1/2 journey here on my birthday as it is so worth it. Keep it up guys you truly have something really special.

Fabulous place. Great food reminiscent of the best food you can remember from childhood - and some! Great care is taken over use of high quality ingredients. I had fish pie with squid ink!!!! and chocolate jaffa cake pudding, which looks like a flying saucer. They manage to create an atmosphere of relaxation and occasion all at the same time. I will be back!

Enjoyed a truly wonderful Sunday lunch here today. The staff are lovely and the food was delicious. My son has multiple food allergies so we struggle to eat out but the staff here were amazing and very accommodating and made him a delicious roast dinner allergen free. We will definitely be eating here again.

Fantastic food and equally fantastic service. Would not hesitate to recommend and will definitely be returning...even if it's just for the delicious homemade ice cream!

Had the tasting menu with wine pairing- simply amazing. Have been to places with Michelin stars that were not as good as this. Stunning food and great service too. Cannot believe how lucky we are to have this round the corner from our house. Will be back!

This is a fantastic pub that is well worth a visit if you are in the area. We've been a few times now and it has always been a good experience. The staff are friendly and welcoming the moment you walk in the door. The beers are well kept and every wine we have tried has been excellent. The food may be more expensive than some of the other pubs in the area but for the quality that you are getting it is very good value. We have had some dishes here that are knocking on the door of Michelin star quality. Great food, great service and in a lovely tucked out of the way location. Highly recommended.

I had the most wonderful birthday meal at the Chequers Inn. The staff went above and beyond to make it a really special day. The food was delicious - we did the seven course tasting menu which was fantastic and such good value. They also made the most INCREDIBLE cake for me which made my day! I would recommend this place in a heartbeat. Thank you :)

We went here for an office Christmas meal and it was very nice. The atmosphere is amazing. Very nice, warm and cozy interior. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was very flavorsome. The reason why I am giving 4 out of 5 starts for food is, the hunters chicken main was not hot and more on the cold side. Other than that, everything else was perfect. I'd highly recommend this venue for a meal out, office/ birthday party. Thank you.

Fantastic service, great food and dishware to go with it. Me and my friends met up for the Sunday lunch. We all had the roast, everything was cooked to perfection, down to the horseradish sauce. You could actually taste real horseradish 😅. We got served an amuse bouche first, I had the gorgeous Scallop starter. We still had room for some beautiful dessert. Food was local and in season. Great to treat ourselves!

We had a really delicious lunch on Saturday to celebrate our anniversary at The Chequers, and from the set menu. Wonderful flavour and great texture. This really is one of my favourite restaurants and yes, I have eaten several times at l'Ortolan, the Waterside Inn, Bray and the Savoy amongst other Michelin star restaurants. Well worth the 30mile drive

Hidden gem place to enjoy a calm and exciting food experience. Service was always there yet unnoticeable, knowledgeable. Food from the big taster menu arrived just on time, perfectly cooked, with something interesting to wonder about in each dish. Finish in the garden in a deep talk with the owner. Would definitely go back to try the dishes on their own...focus on the beef

Have had the pleasure of dining here on a number of occasions. The atmosphere is pleasant and the serving team are warm, good natured and helpful. What really sets the Chequers Inn apart though is the quality of the food - it truly is exceptional.
