It was so good to go to The Parson Woodforde again today now that Allyson & Steve are at the helm. Such a lovely pub, recently re-opened and well worth a visit. Lunch was absolutely superb, the liver and bacon was to die for. Having eaten at Drayton Old Lodge on many occasions we were thrilled to hear that this amazing couple had taken over this pub and have given us a reliable meeting place to catch up with friends. I might add we have to travel an hour and a half to get there but so worth it. When the opportunity arises we will certainly take advantage of the lovely accommodation and then can enjoy the full monty - breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner!! A lovely welcome, especially for our lab, Harvey, (allowed in the bar area) who enjoyed the experience as much as we did.
Thanks to Allyson and her staff for such a lovely lunchtime, we will be back! Especially as my favourite Shiraz was remembered and produced on my arrival - how good is that! Wishing you all the very best in your new venture.
Friday night and we wanted to go out somewhere different. And we were not disappointed!
We had booked a table and were in the main bar area so great for people watching and conversation. No background music. Hurrah! Great choice of beers.
Our food was excellent. Supreme of chicken, and pan fried hake. We both cleared out plates. For dessert it had to be sticky toffee pudding and creme brulee and again we polished them off. The staff were young and very attentive. Clearly well trained.
Was also good to see thst dogs appear to be welcome, as we are always looking for dog friendly places.
Will we be back? Yes. And we will.be recommending to friends too.

Wild eye beer from the Buxton micro brewery was also very good

Had another lovely meal and great service again last night. Even though we had not booked, Maisie made us feel welcome and found us somewhere to sit. She is a pleasure to be served by, so warm and welcoming. Food is consistently lovely - hubby is obsessed with Thai curry, whereas I had a fab burger. Thoroughly recommend

Had dinner here on Saturday just gone and told them that my husband is vegan, Alison admitted that they haven’t got anything vegan on the menu yet as they’ve not been open long. We went to have dinner as planned and Alison was so welcoming. Alison had a word with the Chef before we arrived about the husband being vegan and they came up with a meal plan especially for him. They were great with my son.
I’m very happy the pub has reopened with BETTER owners, we will definitively be coming back.

We attended last night and what a wonderful experience, there was a big party of us celebrating my uncles 50th Birthday, included was 4 young children, staff knew exactly how to keep them happy given it was a late night for them, food was incredible and generally has been the best evening out in a long time, without a doubt we will be returning, Thankyou

This is a new find for us, absolutely love this place. We enjoyed it so much we've booked for Christmas � day!!! Pub has a nice feeling to it, staff are welcoming and the food is delicious. Beer and wine is good also. A*

Delicious lunch with friends. We ordered the liver and bacon, fish and chips and two fillet of hake with pea risotto. All were nicely presented and very tasty! See you again soon.

Have visited beefore,. Lovely setting and atmosphere , very friendly attentive staff. Good menu choices, gf dishes also available. Excellent prices, well worth the money.
A lovely pub/hotel serving freshly made food and real ales. The rooms are well equipped and comfortable and come with complimentary tea, coffee, and bottles of water.
The breakfast is superb, full of local produce, and cooked perfectly.
The best thing about this hotel is the staff. They went above and beyond to resolve a small issue I had, and I couldn't compliment them enough.

Just had a lovely meal today,Christmas eve at Parson Woodforde excellent meal thanks to chefs and friendly front of house staff. Very nice atmosphere.
We had a brilliant Sunday lunch here with friends on the August Bank Holiday weekend. We were well accommodated for with our toddler and 2 under 5s. The service was spot on and staff were very attentive. The food was great quality, generously portioned and reasonably priced. We all enjoyed starters, a roast for main and puddings. The ambience was lovely and we felt very well looked after.

We spent our 25th wedding anniversary at The Parsons, such a lovely meal. Back soon to celebrate my cousins 25th wedding anniversary to.

Came across this pub by accident when we got diverterted off the A47 during lunch time. Looks very inviting from outside, massive garden. Inside very welcoming, traditional looking pub with fireplace and beams. Lots of choice on the menu, with specials on offer. Staff were very, very friendly, explaining soup of the day and the days daily fish catch available. Large choice of beers available, lots of tables in bar and restaurant area. More than happy for our two dogs in the bar area and made us all feel very welcome. Food was fantastic with large portions ( I'm glad we didn't opt for a starter, but from what we saw, they looked fabulous) Very big piece of fresh tasting fish, lots of scampi, chips were perfect. Could not fault anything about the pub, food, service, everything was to very high standard, quite glad we got lost really, well worth the additional miles, highly recommended.

Beautiful building. Host (Alison?) Was so lovely and helpful. She even arranged our taxi to and from our event. Room was clean, bed super soft and comfy. Has tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer in the drawer and a fan in the wardrobe. Iron and ironing board can be requested. Room was very warm but the windows do open and we put the fan on. Had a full English breakfast (included), which was very tasty, tea, coffee and fresh juices also offered. We will definitely be stating there again in the future.
My family and I enjoyed an amazing meal with our two children on bank holiday Monday. Amazing meals, brilliant service, great selection of ales, fab kids menu (the kids menu pizzas were exceptional) and even the dog was made a fuss of! Thank you - we'll be back soon!

Good selection of beers, larger and wines. Eaten there in the past and reasonably priced.
Since my last visit the food and service has become top class. A good range of choices and a great location.
Amazing Sunday lunch. Delicious and at a reasonable price. Deserts to die for and massive portions. Lovely ales on tap and super friendly staff. An absolute gem of a place! Dogs allowed in the large bar area when the humans are eating. We'll be back.
