A few years ago I added up all the time I had spent in Greece. It came to over a year and throughout my many visits I've eaten in many restaurants and tavernas. I've had some magnificent traditional meals from the humble kitchens in tiny villages to top end 'city' restaurants. I love Greek food.
The Kitchen isn't like that. There isn't any Greek music and no sign of Zorba. There isn't Moussaka. What there is a fresh, young and vibrant attitude to Greek food. And I loved it! All the flavours that Greek cooks manage to cram into those traditional dishes are lifted into modern contemporary dishes that I believe reflect the new approach to serving Greek food. My wife and I had 4 starters (well how can you choose just 1?) and two mains that were excellent. The Lamb Baklava starter was a taste of heaven and a stand out dish amongst a very high quality field and it was closely followed by the pigs cheek main that was so rich but well balanced with the accompanying pomegranate salad. My wife had the excellent chicken souvlaki that would have fed both of us!
The service was every bit as good as the food. We had concerns about our meal clashing with a major football match but we were reassured that it would be a 'sport free' zone. And it was. The ambience was very good although the circumstance of the football may have made things a little quieter than normal but nevertheless the feeling in the restaurant is one of happiness. Everyone smiled and was very pleasant and ready to answer the many questions we had about the restaurant. We got a guided tour and saw the recently opened 'garden' area with its rustic fell that is bang on trend with the 'best' places in Greece.
I'd like to thank all the staff at the Kitchen for a wonderful experience and thank the management for their vision and commitment in opening - and making a success of - this lovely quaint eatery. Epharisto Poli!

Spectacular! The food couldn't be any fresher or any tastier, or any better presented! The atmosphere of the place is relaxed and comfortable. The hosts and chefs are clearly very passionate about what they do, and they seem to do everything possible to embrace social, ethical and community value. Seasonal ingredients are sourced locally and, where possible, organically.Their passion and knowledge for food is evident in every mouthful of freshly prepared food, made to order, and every corner of the decor - recipe books, regional information books and more than a little Mediterranean influence in finishing touches can be seen all around this intimate setting. This family enterprise is fuelled with a great love for what they all do together. The Kitchen is a unique dining experience, found at the heart of a traditional northern market town, that seems to be blossoming into a little hub of delight for foodies and craft ale connoisseurs.
Nipped into Westhoughton this afternoon for a quick late lunch expecting a run of the mill sandwich in Wetherspoons or such like. Saw The Kitchen and popped in, what an absolute gem we've found! The food is DELICIOUS, so much so, I've booked to come back on an evening to try that fabulous menu out. The friendly young people in this little restaurant are so deserving of the fantastic reviews on here, give it a visit, you wont be disappointed, my new favourite place!

I've been wanting to go to The Kitchen since it opened and seeing all the great reviews, it didn't disappoint. The food and the staff were amazing, will definitely be going again.
Our first visit tonight but it won’t be our last! The food was excellent and took me straight back to Greece. The staff were friendly and the service good. I wasn’t sure which wine to have so I was brought a taster of the house and a Greek wine to try both. I thought this was a nice touch and of course I chose the greek� Will definitely be going again, the lamb baklavas were delicious!
The food was absolutely incredible and so was the decor and atmosphere. Honestly I'd recommend this to anyone as it was just beautiful. Well done guys��
Definitely would go back here, starters were great, feta fried in sesame seeds and cranberry, open chicken souvlaki was on point, fresh and tasty, mythos in small metal tankards. Even the tunes were great, will be back, staff brilliant
Food was amazing! And the staff were really friendly from entering to leaving, couldn't fault them, Great food, great staff, great atmosphere. Can't wait to come back!

Went for a post birthday meal tonight and it was our first visit to The Kitchen.
Surrounds were comfortable, ambiance was great, staff were all very pleasant and friendly but the food... stunning!!!
Packed with flavour and and presented beautifully, every mouthful was enjoyable from the first to the last. Really lucky to have a place of such quality within walking distance.
Wishing you all continued success & we’ll be visiting again soon!
Absolutely belting place, food was bang on, service is good and the whole place has a nice character to it. Nikie the owner is lovley and makes you feel well looked after! Will be going back for sure

What a great find on the high St little gem,great venue hidden behind small frontage. Called for lunch with our two dogs,we were heartily welcomed in. Loved the indoor/outdoor dining at the back,great quirky decor,blankets heaters.. open kitchen food is amazing and great vfm service excellent even offered our dogs food and water!! Would highly recommend and will be going back! Give them a go and try for yourself
Such a great place with fantastic food and the best atmosphere. They make sure the produce is always fresh and a good balance between supporting local producers and getting key ingredients directly from Greece. It's our second visit and we were so happy with the food as usual. We had the open fish and open chicken kebabs and they were to die for. Our favourite starter is the courgettes fritters, they are the best! And the beetroot hummus is excellent too! And the chips... And the bread... Everything! We can't wait to come again and try more of their menu. Keep it up guys :)
I've been meaning to try here since it first opened and today I finally got chance! What an amazing little place. The food was delicious, reasonably prices, lovely atmosphere and the young gentleman serving us was lovely, very accommodating and very polite. I can't wait to return.

Albeit not the traditional menu due to covid, the 2 person platter we had for takeaway was fantastic. The meat, chips, halloumi, salad, hummus was all brilliant. Can't wait to go again when full service resumes.

Absolutely lovely food and very friendly been a few times lovely place. However i,ve just had my booking for Saturday cancelled with no expectation.
So so disappointmented as it was for my sons birthday. Will not be going again.
Lovely place and food. However I was a little surprised to see the chef not wear a hair net or and beard snood. I was a little bit put off with the chef leaning over the counter typing on his phone and then handling food without sanitation of his hands after he was was using his phone. In fact I didn't see him wash his hands once in between handling ingredients. Other then that staff were friendly and helpful.
Great staff, food was unique but not pretentious. Extremely tasty, can't wait to go back
Love this place! I've had a girls day out here with lots of sharers, cocktails, wine and desserts... and last weekend we did toddler yoga and brunch! Both enjoyable experiences. The food and cocktails are lovely, the staff are so friendly and the place looks amazing. The lady in charge is always full of energy and smiles! You're doing an amazing job! I recommend it here! Had the fabulous mezze sharer and the steak and eggs. Absolutely amazing atmosphere! The waiter was fantastic, even without the ingredients available as we came quite late, he still made an amazing cocktail which tasted amazing! Food was perfect! A real gem! Thank you to everyone there, you made my dad's birthday a really fun time!

First time here entrance doesnt give any impression of what the restaurant offers which is really good.
