Rossi icecream is a landmark. The factory which resides in Southend should possibly be a world wonder. As much as “glamour” girls stereotypes Essex, Rossi icecream is the well deserved, much loved institution of the county. A Rossi icecream truck even makes a guest appearance driving through the video of Blur’s song ‘Parklife’ (@ 1:50).
Couldn’t quite believe that after having lived here for sixteen years I’d never stepped foot in Rossi’s!
Came in at the end of a long day out with family on the seafront, and couldn’t help but try a few different options. We had the black cherry & cookies and creme, raspberry ripple & salted caramel, and then a separate portion of lemon ice (only because everyone told me I’d be mad to not try it!).
It was quite possibly the best ice cream I’ve ever tasted. The lemon ice was so refreshing and zingy, yet not overpowering and sharp. I could’ve eaten an entire vat of it given how hot it was!
We also took home some cookie cups and an apple pie, which were also AMAZING.
Can’t wait to come back and try something else!
Great big glass fronted ice-cream parlour.
We visited on a lovely busy afternoon, the sun was high in the sky, the tide was in and the queue was just reaching the front door. There wasn't a long wait to be served however there was a situation with the card machines and they were only able to accept cash at the time. This didn't stop us ordering (always carry cash with you, just incase). Was very pleasant service and the staff were friendly, welcoming and very helpful. Their knowledge of products, sizes, prices and options is fantastic. Keep up the great work everyone.
