Stumbled across this pub on a dog walk couldn't believe the size of the beer garden! It's my local and have been there on a few occasions just for a drink and it's a stunning little pub.
Went recently for a Sunday roast with family and can hands down say its the best pub roast we have ever had. Amazing value for money to! Also dog friendly which is a massive plus!
Will definitely be returning for more roasts and to try more of the menu.
Lovely pub, great service from friendly staff. Very dog friendly. We had garlic mushrooms, garlic bread with cheese, scampi and sea bass. All of which were very good (although sea bass didn't appear to be pan fried as stated on the menu but not a problem). Recommended.
When I walked in I was greeted by Tian she made me feel really welcomed and then took the time to not only walk me across the road to my beautiful room at the hotel but also explained things to me on to get in and out. When I went in the room it’s awesome and reminded me of a stay I had in Paris. There was little nice things, bottles of water on the side, a coffee and tea box with loads of coffee bags, loads of milks (instead of the usual 2 that you get in most hotels which is never enough) cookies and twyingins tea. The power shower was great and it was lovely and clean and the beds were great sank right in them. I’m the bathroom was little niceties like soaps, shower gels which had ginsing in (it’s the little things right)
I then went to the restaurant after a shower and Tania had booked me a table in the corner right by the fire (she recognised I was a single guy by myself & got me a lovely quiet table with a bench seat)
I had a steak, with pepper corn sauce skinny fries, peas with garlic butter and garlic bread with cheese. There was a great selection of real ales and ciders (I’m a cider drinker)
She kept checking on me to make sure everything was ok & tbh she was rushing around like r2d2 and had everything in hand.
Great place and I will be staying again.
P.s rooms are great and plenty enough space (I’m 6ft 4” and never bumped my head once haha
A great range of drinks and food is really nice here. The beer garden is really nice in the summer, and I love the interior of the snug feel of the place.
However, the barman raising his voice in a hostile way as if we were nuisance (perceived experience to me) at my friend with hearing difficulties was out of order. I don't care if he wasn't aware, a polite "sorry, I didn't catch that" or "sorry, what was that a pint of xxxx" been better than the "was that a xxx, a XXX". Shame really, tainted my experience. I wanted to say something, but didn't want to embarrass my friend at the time. Other staff were great.
Another warm welcome for breakfast at the Horse and Groom. A good selection of well prepared food, presented by friendly staff. Can't comment on the rooms as we brought our own. We'll be back.
Friendly staff, good food. At first I thought the chips/fries were bit expensive, turns out you get a very large portion. So if you want some to go with your burger, don't be afraid to share.
Warm & friendly welcome
Stayed overnight to attend Sons surprise birthday party.
Room was quiet, comfortable & very clean with tea /coffee making facilities and cookies.
Warm welcome at Breakfast which was excellent all freshly cooked nothing to much trouble.
Highly recommend a stay here.
Family trip to Longleat from Kent so H&G was in a perfect location. Excellent service for evening meals and breakfast, with wonderful atmosphere in the busy bar area. Food was faultless. Quiet rooms opposite the pub.
I didn’t stay here but went for a meal, the service and people were lovely. We were sat in view of the tv and were watching the sports, the food was delicious and everyone on the table enjoyed their food. This place is highly recommended.
Little hidden pub from the main surrounding pubs, lovely food, great staff, reasonably priced.
