Staying locally and this place was recommended for Sunday Lunch. Lovely friendly staff, good choice of drinks, great food, in huge quantities, couldn't manage a dessert. Highly recommended!
Fabulous meal. All 3 of us had something very different - pie, burger and salt & pepper chicken. All were cooked superbly and couldn't be faulted. Lovely, efficient staff and cosy atmosphere.

Can highly recommend the steak pie the chips and gravy was out of this world
My wife is coeliac gluten free she had pork with pepper corn sauce and chips one of the best gluten free meals she’s ever had👍
Great pub in a pretty village, a great find after a day's walking in the Yorkshire Wolds. We liked it so much we came back 3 times, twice for excellent food (large portions too). Very friendly staff too. Has two rooms as well apparently (but we needed 4) but their description sounded good too.
Lovely quiet country pub. Just popped in for a drink but meals look really appetising.
We booked to stay here overnight and we will definitely be coming back again. Simon was a great host and was very accommodating, even when we were delayed and arrived late. The room was spacious, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. We were treated to a fu English breakfast the next morning, which was absolutely delicious. Great location, great room, great food and great service 👍
Excellent Inn in a quiet village location. Rustic but clean and comfortable interior serving value for money pub classics and specials. Sunday lunches are very very good also. Good selection of desserts, beers and alcoholic drinks. Dog friendly with pleasant friendly staff. Book to avoid disappointment as it is very busy, especially early evening, you’ll not be disappointed.
How sad to hear of the closure. We really enjoyed our overnight stay in August and were looking forward to returning. Everything exceeded our expectations...the room, staff, food and entertainment. Many thanks to Simon and all the staff, Scott Wardell and Bladerunner for a fantastic day and night

WOW WOW WOW, this is truly the first place to make me want to try everything on the menu. The setting is beautiful, gorgeous views and a truly amazing pub with some amazing features.
The food is all prepared and made in house, NOTHING is bought in. I opted for the Sunday roast and both my wife and I can confidently say this was the best roast dinner we have had from a pub. Even though we where full after finishing our dinners we opted to be greedy pigs and get a desert. We ordered the rum and raisen cheesecake. Again all made in house and not bought in. What can I say.... Again truly amazing.
This pub is most certainly a leader of others and what country pubs should be about. Non of this chain lark, all proper home cooked meals, beautiful setting and the staff where as good as the food and setting. Happy, pleasant, couldn't do enough for you.
Prices where no more expensive then any other pub. We have scrapped the idea of cooking for the rest of our holiday and we are going back daily to try the menu.

Very tasty food in a great atmosphere! Portions are large and prices aren't, so it's a great combination!
Staff are ways polite, attentive and friendly.
This pub is a great place to visit at any time of year. They have a varied menu with a good range of specials too.
Wow we called for Sunday lunch on the off chance and wasn't disappointed it was absolutely amazing! Yorkshire pudding was huge and all the veg was lovely and fresh, will definitely be back.

Fabulous place that we found completely by accident as we travelled from Manchester to Scarborough. Friendly a d welcoming atmosphere, but quiet enough to have a lovely bite to eat. The food and service were excellent. The ki d of place that makes you feel looked after, without being all over you. The staff have got the balance right. The prices were good too!
Big thanks to the staff at dawnay they looked after us brilliantly nothing could of been better. Great beer, food and company and the sandwiches you left for us to pick up was a real treat on a tough last day of the wolds. Many thanks we will certainly call again. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
We called in at the Dawnay Arms whilst on holiday in the area and what a wonderful surprise. After 50 years of pub meals this is one of the best we have ever had. The meat was succulent and the variety of veg on the plate was amazing and tasteful, not just the usual spoon full of frozen peas. I have a large appetite and there was more than enough for me. The friendly service was second to none and all at a very, very reasonable price. We will definitely call again when in the area.
Had the most amazing meal here today, you can tell the food is freshly made and the value for money is fantastic. Not to mention the brilliant staff who are so friendly and welcoming. I would highly recommend and will definitely visit again!

Stopped here for lunch just by chance on our way to the East Coast and so glad we did. Lunch was great, I had the steak pie my wife had the chicken burger. Both were really really good and the landlord and bar staff were really welcoming. Would recommend this place to anyone
