I did mean to write this a month and a half ago. Sorry for the delay. I needed to say what a lovely meal I had for my birthday. The atmosphere was great. Food was superb. Lovely! And they heard it was my birthday so brought out a board with Happy Birthday on and some complimentary ice cream. Great touch!
We attended on a quiet Monday evening and the atmosphere of the restaurant was great. The staff were all very friendly and bubbly. Answered all the questions and helped us with some recommendations.
The food was great. Started with the one bite salmon and curried balls. Both fantastic. The mains were great as well.
A wonderful addition to the Thai restaurant scene in Nottingham.
Went here for a birthday meal out and had a great time.
The staff (Nicole was our waitress) were attentive, friendly and gave us recommendations on dishes which we ordered and thoroughly enjoyed.
The food came out in good time, was piping hot, tasted great with good spice levels.
Thoroughly enjoyed out meal and will definitely be paying a further visit.
The bill was very reasonable too for what we ordered.
Alex was amazing! He was SO attentive with us, recommended some of the dishes on the menu and made our anniversary meal perfect!
An credit to the company!
First time visiting and was not disappointed.
The site is easily accessible with wide doors and ramp.
We were met by staff at the door and greeted with a smile. My booking included a wheelchair user.
The restaurant is nicely decorated and bright and vibrant. There are lots of tables, but it does not seem crampt with plenty of space between. The whole space is clean and clearly well maintained to a high standard.
When we were taken to the table, we were given the choice of tables to suit the height of the wheelchair.
Upon receiving the menu, we were advised of a few items that were unavailable today. The staff member advised that certain items would be subbed into sharing dishes.
We ordered a selection of tapas and drinks. Drinks were delivered quickly to the table. Our food was served quite quickly after. All food served was hot and clearly fresh. All tasted amazing, particularly the Mussels and the Squid.
All of the dishes had a fresh garnish, which again tasted amazing. I particularly enjoyed the sweet, pickled cucumber and green pepper garnish.
We ordered 3 tapas each, and this was enough for a filing lunch.
When the table was cleared, we were offered dessert. We ordered a dessert each with a hot drink. These were served quickly and tasted great! I particularly enjoyed the Black sesame ice cream. However, the caramelised mango cake was very nice too!
Overall, very very impressed with lunch today. It was well worth the visit. All staff were friendly and welcoming.
Service was quick but not overbearing. We did not at any point feel rushed.
10 out of 10 for everything!!!!!
Will definitely return and would recommend.
🙃
Visited for the first time this weekend for our anniversary meal and will definitely be returning! Our server Alex was very helpful, the restaurant was beautifully decorated and the food was amazing!
A 5 star recommended in west bridgford
signature squid was good.
we had green curry and fish
mix shared platers
All very tasty 😋 recommended
This is my second review - the original one is missing. Simply the best Thai option available in Nottingham. Great interiors, superb service and yet inclusive, doesn't feel upmarket.
When my family and I went to Giggling, we were welcome by very friendly members of staff. I am a wheelchair user and the accessibility is good. Also the disabled toilet was very clean, smelt beautifully and is one of the most beautifully decorated disabled toilet I have used.
We had a lovely person taking our drinks and food orders. She asked us straight away if anyone in the group had any dietary requirements. My sister and her husband requested a gluten free menu, which had a good selection of dishes to choose from. When the food arrived at the table, all the gluten free dishes were clearly marked to eliminate any mix ups. The food was love and tasty.
My family and I would strongly recommend the Giggling Squid in West Bridgford, Nottingham, if you are looking for good food, a friendly atmosphere, wheelchair accessibility and great customer service/experience.
Lovely place for a bite to eat, went with the mother and father. Really nice top quality food, great Atmosphere and brilliant staff
What a Gem! Nottingham is full of good restaurants, serving all types of cuisine. Giggling Squid is an absolute gem. There is covered, heated outside seating in winters and open air seating in the summers, in addition to the regular seating. Contemporary decor, courteous staff, a great selection of food and drinks and Authentic thai taste.
Very popular among the locals in West Bridgford and it gets very busy on the weekends. Advance booking is not required but is recommended.
First visit after recommendation from a friend.
Plenty of parking available nearby.
Lovely ambiance to the place. Friendly welcome from the staff.
Comfortable chairs and pleasant surroundings.
We asked for a quieter table which was accommodated for us in a little side area, as the front of restaurant near the glass conservatory type area was more bustling with people.
We were served by Dan, who made the visit even more memorable. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and after a discussion of our tastes he recommended a few dishes. We took his advice, and were very glad we did as we were not disappointed!
Everything we had was perfect. We regularly eat Thai food and this was top quality!! From the crackers, starter platter, mains and dessert. We couldn’t fault anything!
The pièce de résistance was a double espresso served hot at the end. Too many times have I been served tepid coffee at a restaurant.
It’s the little things that matter! Attention to detail! And Dan was on point! Well done!
Would recommend and certainly return.
Turned up 40mins early for a 7.30 booking and this was no problem. Seated immediately in a busy restaurant. Staff and service was excellent and the food was very good.
Soft drink prices were not so pleasing. I will return but I will be sure I'm not driving at least I can enjoy a beer and not a £3.50 diet coke.
3 diners, sharing starter, 3 mains, 1 rice, 2 x diet cokes and a bottled cider was just short of £100 with the service charge.
Always go yearly to celebrate a shared birthday with my friend. Waiter was excellent and funny. Good food.
A last minute birthday treat, randomly chosen because they were still serving food at 9pm. The salmon starter was so good I could have eaten it 3 times over and the massaman curry was divine. The service was excellent & 10% would have been happily & freely given. If poor service the tip (if any) should reflect the service and not be by force!
Beautiful place inside. Very welcoming and friendly staff. Good menu choice. Starters beautiful. Thai green curry and Sticky chicken nice but the melting beef was very fatty. £15 wasted there, could not eat much of it. Would try the Chicken pad Thai next time. Otherwise great experience.
What is nicer than sitting on the terrace of a restaurant on a mild spring day, sipping a cocktail and waiting for your Thai tapas?
The Giggling Squid is a fairly new establishment on the site of the former Monkey Tree in West Bridgford. The place offers Thai food, tapas-style, way more interesting kids menu than about 95% of other places and excellent service. If all your kids eat is chips/french fries in restaurants, go for the chicken fried rice in the kids menu. Not guaranteed they will like it but that's your best choice.
The food was lovely, service was quick and polite at a time when the place was just about to get really busy so overall I was really happy with everything.
Food was delicious. However, the portion isn't big enough for the money you pay. It probably would only just feed my child. (I'm not a big person either! Probably 12 stone) It came warm, had to heat it up. Would have been 5 stars other than that.. Would visit but wouldn't rush or be my first choice.
