Review The Travelling Man - West Boldon

Good food, very hot, nicely cooked. Black pudding stack starter was very nice with peppercorn sauce - on the salty said, good for me but worth knowing. Rump steak surf and turf - requested rare, cooked as asked for. Could do with seasoning, not as flavourful a cut, would benefit from the optional (£3) peppercorn sauce. Fries were soft and sweet, tasted like beef dripping was used, very good. Only the scampy was a let down - not up to the standard of the other ingredients and only 4 small one. £21 in total, we'll priced, good quality, served fast. Ate at 6pm on a Monday.

Fantastic Pub serving genuine home cooked food. The menu has so much choice and everything we've eaten up to now has been perfect. Very tasty and good size portions. 3 course set meal is great value. Good choice of drinks. Staff very friendly and hard working, nothing is too much trouble. Great atmosphere and excellent service. We pop in here when passing from Middlesbrough. Well worth a 40 minute drive, you won't be disappointed. Can't wait for my next Yorkshire Pudding Wrap :)

Sunday lunch was really nice, it was busy but didn't have to wait too long for a table. Only thing that couldn't really be helped was we were close to another table with an older couple in and we heard every bit of their conversation and they were a bit loud. But that's nothing to do with the pub itself.

Wow is all I can say. We went for lunch and it was busy but we were sat quickly by very friendly staff. The meals are massive and very tasty. The veg was fresh and had a lovely crunch to it still the meat was tender and the gravy wash lush. Even had a pudding

Never been for years, thought we would pop in for lunch. Staff were great, sorted a table, drinks and food order taken quickly. Lunch was delicious, definitely will return.

The mince and dumplings will not disappoint, the food was eclipsed by the friendliness of the staff. Lovely little pub

There were four of us. We had the three course Dinner. The food was plentiful and very tasty, well cooked and delicious.

Went for tea with my son who is 7 years old. Greeted by smiling, welcoming staff and told we could pick our table in the restaurant. The menu had a lovely choice and seemed reasonably priced but I came specifically for the Yorkshire filled wrap. It did not disappoint..absolutely delicious. My son had the Mince and dumplings which he polished off in minutes. Not usually a fan of Mince and dumplings but it was beautiful. He also got a free ice cream dessert. The food came out quickly and the staff are a credit to the place. For the 2 meals and 2 drinks it was £15.90 which I thought was excellent value. We'll definately be back.

Delicious home cooked food and lovely, friendly staff who provide excellent customer service. We visit frequently and have never had any reason to complain. �

I was so dissapointed yesterday. I got the mixed grill. Which I always get. The ingredients have changed. The sausage used to be my fav bit. But it was a cheap cut yesterday. My wife got the same. One bit of meat we couldnt decide if it was Pork or Lamb. Ive been going for a while now. But will be venturing elsewhere now.

Visit here regularly always a brilliant service but this time we were given our table waiting for someone to take our order over 10 mins, my husband had to go over and ask for someone to come over people came in after us and ordered after our order was taken &I had eaten their meal before we even got ours and when we finally got our meals the turnip was burnt yuk, don't know what was wrong as I have never had a reason to complain before as it is always spot on,

Tried for the first time.....what a lovely meal.the chips are double cooked � delicious.well cooked and presented food at a great price......oh yes and the home made pudding/cakes fab. The waitresses couldn't of been more helpful .thanks....will be back

Been for tea tonight had the 3 courses for £9.95. Starters arrived quick but waited awhile for mains. I had chicken curry rice and chips. Curry watery but tasted fine, my son had hunters chicken which was over cooked and bacon to crispy for his liking. Deserts were nice. All in all not bad for £9.95 but not sure I would rush back.

First time there for a big family meal, & they didn't disappoint. Food was lovely & really good service. Definitely be going back
