Superb fish & chips AND DOG FRIENDLY
Hove fish & chips and that means I know the great ones, from the good ones and the poor ones.
Not only does S&E produce excellent fish & chips - light batter, wonderfully fresh fish - but I must also really commend the owners for making the sit down area DOG FRIENDLY. Next to the takeaway is an attractive seating area of 6 tables where you can eat your takeaway free of charge. The lady owner that serves is super friendly and welcoming.
Give the unpredictability of British weather it's often a big challenge where dog owners can get a snack or meal inside when it's wet. We expected to have to take ours to done covered seating along the sea front do it was a brilliant bonus to find out we could take our dog Baxter inside.

Beautiful fish and chips, freshly made to order. Battered sausage was also spot on. Was fairly busy when we went there but you get a ticket and wait till it's read out, wasn't more than 10 minute wait. I had a medium cod, regular chips and mushy peas. Was more than enough for me!
First time visiting and l have to say we will defo be returning. Big portions and excellent taste. We went for medium cod with medium chips but could have shared as there was enough for two.
Great fish and chips! Best chippy in West Bay. Good portions and reasonably priced considering location. Harbour a few strides away from shop... perfect setting for perfect chips. Be prepared to queue but it will be worth it.
Gorgeous fish, chips & curry sauce. Very busy, but the service was very good. It's difficult to park outside, so it's easier to find a parking space, then walk there. Well worth it.
Some of the best fish and chips anywhere. The cues show this to be true, will often be cued for 30 to 40 mins to get in but it's so worth it. Amazing fish and chips reasonably priced. The specials are always worth a go. I had tempura king prawns this time and they were magic. Lovely. Chips. Batter is not too soft or crispy, perfect every time. Mushy peas are great. Only bit of feedback from. Me is the. Curry sauce wa disappointing. Over all 99/100 though. If I was to have fish and chips on my. Death bed this would be the fish and chips for. Me! Marvelous!

Best fish & chips for miles!! Huge portions & nicely cooked..the queues said it all but was served quickly. Lovely friendly staff..doesn't dissapoint 👍🏼

There was the inevitable queue when we got there, but luckily we had booked to sit in the restaurant side.
The lad who served us was as polite as you like.
My missus had a small cod and loved it, I had a mushy pea fritter and loved it, and we both had an accompanying portion of chips. I have to say that the chips were amongst the best we've ever had. And the amazing thing - as others have pointed out - is that they aren't soaked in oil! It almost feels healthy eating them!
Now that's what I call fish and chips.

We got here and was busy so you know it's good. Locals and holiday makers use this place. Nice selection on the menu. Can't wait to come back and have some more.
I love everything about S&E Fish and Chips. The staff are great, service is brilliant and the fish and chips are the best I’ve tasted. I can also highly recommend the fish cakes and also the curry sauce. Depending on your appetite, one fish cake may be enough, as they are a good size. I’ve always pre ordered and everything is ready when I go and pick it up. The cod fills the batter and is delicious. One very happy returning customer thank you!
We got there abit late so they were running out of some items.
But what we did have was well worth it.
If we are in West Bay and want fish and chips, we will always go here first.
We have been here many a time and are prepared to queue, knowing that the quality is worth the wait. This particular evening our 2 haddock and chips were the best ever. Chips to die for and the most succulent flaky haddock was sublime. Can't wait to return. What a treasure on our doorstep. Yet another good visit today
Chips were sub par but the fish was amazing, the chicken breast chunks were spiced just nice when very well with beer.
Had absolute best fish and chips today! Ordered large cod and large chips and was huge! Split it with my daughter and both full up afterwards. It's hard to find good value at the moment... this was it! Crispiest batter, white juicy fish and chips were delicious. Will come again! Thank you (and lovely service!)
