My favourite country pub. It has everything, open fires, brilliant beer garden, great organised entertainment, perfect location in the countryside and my wife says she wouldn't be able to survive without a lovely steak ciabatta fix from the white horse every now and then!

Lovely atmosphere with food to match. Staff really helpful even when we did keep altering the time of our booking. Highly recommend this pub.

The White Horse does not disappoint, not only is it stunning to look at on the outside, the interior is stylish renovated to a high standard. The garden is beautiful overlooking open fields beyond with plenty of seating.
We arrived to find the garden very busy and despite being told there would be a little wait for our food, it arrived very quickly, there's a good choice and the food was fabulous. The staff were very friendly and helpful and there is also a climbing frame for any bored little ones.
Lovely lunch break during a long walk. Food was great. Sat in the beautiful beer garden. I am not a big fan of McMullen's beer, but the pint I was served was good.
We gad dinner at the Acre - a lovely restaurant attached to the hotel. It’s not easy to find but worth the effort.
The decor is lovely, and whilst perhaps a little too well lit, the atmosphere was very nice.
Whilst outwardly pricey, I’d actually say this place is good value given that the food really is top end. We came away feeling that we’d had a really good night.
The wine list is reasonably broad. There wasn’t much “fine wine” but there’s something for most tastes and the prices are affordable
Finally - five stars can only be achieved if the service is good. I felt well looked after and liked that our server knew the menu and had tried the dishes.
We will definitely be returning

Wonderful Saturday Lunchtime meal in the garden with family. Staff were very friendly and the food was amazing. We had Whitebait starters and then Kleftico Lamb for mains and churros and eton mess & bakliva. All we're amazing and of a great quality. We just love the Whitehorse

If you are looking for a Hertfordshire wedding reception venue I cannot recommend The White Horse enough! From conception to the day they were nothing short of amazing. Emily was so calm and professional and the food was incredible. Thanks again to you all.

We had our wedding party here on Tuesday and it was an absolute dream. Such a beautiful setting, so much for the kids to do and such many beautiful backgrounds for stunning wedding photos. Leading up to the wedding they were so helpful and really went above and beyond. Everything flowed so well on the day. It was completely stress free and seamless. Everyone commented on how perfect the wedding was. Couldn’t recommend them high enough. If you are planning a celebration and want it to be stress free then this is the place to do it. They were also so accommodating regarding dietary requirements.
Pretty nice. Service was a bit slower than usual. Was very quiet for a Friday too! Food was tasty. The desserts were the best bit. Freshly made on site by a lady who was keen to show them off, I don't blame her, they were fantastic. A few mixups with the order but nothing drastic. I had the pie of the day. The filling was really full of flavor but the crust was gigantic. The chorizo starter is unusual, such big chewy pieces. I had never seen it come like that before. Nice but I like it cooked more. Scampi and breaded mushrooms - as hot as ever.
6 out of 10 but I know this pub is usually better than this, I've seen it!
Really nice pub in the countryside. Has a great beer garden. Choice of beers and ales are decent. We went for a Sunday roast and it was good. They did sell out of some of the favourites but order was good. We had to send the Yorkshire pudding back as they were stone cold but the staff apologised profusely and replaced them with fresh ones very quickly.
Give it a try esp if the weather is good (or in the winter and you're near the fireplace.
A lovely country pub. Fantastic food. Fantastic staff. My wife and I both had the chicken supreme and mushrooms in a creamy sauce. For dessert we had the Eton mess and chocolate brownie. Love to go back another day. Very good VFM.
Good menu for a gastro pub and the Sunday Roast section was really nice, the roasties were delicious and the portion size very decent. A couple of real ales to choose from, so great. Competitive prices too. Well worth a visit

We booked a sheltered outdoor table for 8 overlooking the children's play area on what turned out to be a glorious bank holiday.
The kids enjoyed their choices from the children's menu including my fussy youngest who told me the chipolatas were "the best ever". The 2-course offerings for kids were great and included some child-friendly vegetables (we opted for carrot and cucumber sticks). I chose the calamari as a starter with fish and chips as a main. The calamari was absolutely to notch; up there with the best I've had! Juicy, tender pieces with tasty, crunchy coating. The fish and chips as a main was tasty and a good sized portion which satisfied.
The one vegan in our group was well catered for and enjoyed the chilli dish and vegan ice cream for dessert.
On a warm and dry day, the outdoor setting is great for families who can let the kids have a run around in a contained area with a play frame with slide, swing, etc as well as plenty of open grass.
From a COVID-19 safety point of view, all the staff wore masks, there was ample hand sanitiser available and signs to indicate whether the toilets were occupied. We asked for some straws and a waiter brought them over wrapped in a serviette so he didn't touch them.
Good value for money when you take into account the customer experience as well as the great food. We had a similarly priced "experience" at Pizza Hut just a couple of weeks ago which pales in comparison.
All in all, a very enjoyable lunch. Thank you!
