Fantastic place!! Came for prosecco afternoon tea with 3 friends. I havent been in over a year and it has certainly changed and become even more 'quirky'. Lovely friendly staff! Absolutely love the vintage mix n match 'everything' about this place. The food arrived promptly, with a good selection to choose from. It was lovely and fresh, very generous portions. Nice selection of loose leaf tea, which is rare to have! Highly recommend!!! Will be back again soon

We were there yesterday and had the easter tea which was amazing, we had to take half the cakes home there was so much. It's a fabulous place very eclectic and one of a kind with scrumptious food and friendly staff and they love having dogs in there, what more could you want in a cafe/tea rooms. If you haven't been in there yet I highly recommend you do

Lovely tea room but not all of the staff are very welcoming! I think we were overcharged as we payed for tea & I believe I read from the menu the full breakfast inc tea? Also there was an element missing from the breakfast! Lovely environment but need to work on the little things that make customers feel great & wanting to return

Went in for a light lunch. Choose the cheese, ham & mayo wrap and it was amazing, served with salad coleslaw and chips. Washed down with a quality coffee. Great quality and polite, helpful staff.

We just love popping in here for lunch of just tea and a slice. The decor is fun, quirky and we love the vintage bits n bobs and music. The food is lovely. Well presented and delicious. Staff are friendly and chatty. Highly recommended if you are peckish whilst in Welshpool.

Visited Saturday just gone, and it was incredible. Loved the decor, we sat in the Alice of Wonderland part of the tearooms, and it was just fantastic. Even the menu was all out of Wonderland!! The teapots were extremely big, which is great if you are a tea lover like myself. There are so many flavours to choose from. The baguettes and ciabiattas were filled to the brim with tasty food. All come with side salad and taco chips. We certainly had plenty to eat and drink. The atmosphere was great, and the whole place was packed out . We shall definitely be returning. It certainly cheered us up on a rainy dull day. Everything was great from when we walked into saying our goodbyes. Great good, staff and atmosphere with a spoonful of magical delights. It's most definitely worth a visit down the rabbit hole! It will make you feel as mad as a hatter!!!! Enjoy the journey

Quirky place, seems to be a different movie/subject for each room. Lots of cool memorabilia and props. The full English here is great, seriously tasty. Please bring back the bigger single mushroom though instead of the small ones. Service was good, friendly staff.

On our arrival to Welshpool on Friday afternoon we arrived a little early and I had spotted the little gem online prior to booking our hotel (something you have to do if your partner suffers with Coeliac disease) my wife never complains but it must be said that in the last few years many restaurants and cafés highlight vegan options on menu’s so much more than Gluten-free, sad really because because vegan is mostly by choice we’re as having coeliac disease isn’t!! Anyway, this cafe offers a great range of gluten-free meals and it’s quirkiness and style is definitely worth a visit. The staff were very helpful, service was prompt, and most importantly the food was lovely. We both had the bacon Brie and cranberry ciabatta, great for the wife to get the gluten-free option, sounds cheesy (no pun intended) but to be able to eat things you previously enjoyed can be such a luxury. Great place, thank you, and this was the start of a most enjoyable weekend and the people of Welshpool were lovely friendly people.

This is a lovely place with brilliant food amazing service and an atmosphere that is one of a kind and I can’t recommend it more. I have 1 negative and that is that the toilet is a little cramped but I couldn’t list all the positives here. Much better than I expected even with my high expectations from the other reviews here. If your parsing through I couldn’t recommend this cafe more.

Popped into The Bay Tree this morning for my second day of my work holiday. When I walked into the premises I was politely greeted by the lady who was working this morning, and was promptly given a table and menu. Was pleasantly surprised by the massive selection of tea (the tea is supplied by Morgan's Brew Tea,glad I picked up 2 bags of tea from Morgan's now!). I chose the oolong tea, what was absolutely divine paired with the smoked salmon Eggs Benedict I had, again absolutely beautiful and I couldn't of asked for it to be any different. The presentation of the tea and eggs was beautiful and made me feel like I had just walked into a Michelin star tearoom (but not as poncey as a Michelin star). After my breakfast I decided to have a look around the place just to see if I was missing anything (as the fromt of the tearoom was scattered with eclectic items such as taxidermy) and I for sure was missing out and wished I had gone and sat in the Alice in wonderland room! Definitely going to be a difficult choice for where I go on my last morning tomorrow. Ps,the prices were very good for the quality of service and quality of food/drink that was provided. I also appreciated seeing the lady who served me introduce a young lady to the premises who had just started when I ordered this morning.

Love the fun/ retro decor, a lovely member of staff explained that they were busy with 2 lge groups and would come to us as soon as they could, which they did. Brought tasty coffees, baked potato and beef sandwich arrived great but no knives. They were so busy they forgot. When I saw cutlery arriving for others I asked for some. I noticed 2 managers having a meeting and lunch. This is when I did get annoyed. It seems that customers and dedicated staff mean nothing modern management. Is this just me.?? Left unhappy after complaining.

Lovely cafe/tea room in Welshpool Powys. Close to the town centre with 2 easy public car parks behind it, across from each other. Great selection of cakes and meals and the coffee is excellent. Good selection of gin as well. Very eclectic inside with the walls and ceiling covered in interesting memorabilia. Prices average for the times. Always something to see when you walk in. Variety of seating styles from old converted waltzer cars to high bar stools and leather chesterfield style chairs etc. Would recommend anyone with imagination and an enquiring mind, to give it a go.

Wonderful cafe. Huge selection of loose leaf tea (black and green) served in large tea pots, enough for 3 cups, plus. The white tea was good quality. Charmingly quirky decor. They love dogs. Made a fuss of our tiny dog, and gave her a dog biscuit the size of her head! (With permission). They have gluten free bread, and the menu is marked up where GF is an option. Ordering GF therefore straightforward. On the cake side, they have GF scones. The non-GF Victoria sponge was excellent, homemade. All the cakes looked great, I wanted to try all of them (displayed on the counter). On a Saturday this cafe is busy even in September. It is busy for a reason. Despite being busy the staff and service were great. I loved it, highly recommended.

Stopped off here on the way through and so glad I did. A really bizarre, quirky cafe which was brilliant. Every room and area stuffed with novelties and themes. The food, I had the Welsh breakfast with Assam tea was very good and served but very pleasant staff. Definitely going to stop back off on the return trip.

Great all round.. food was amazing 👏. Staff were very professional 👌 considering the amount of orders they have to cope with. Very busy but still manage to keep a smile on thier faces and keep the service to a high standard. 😀..

This was a real find! A lovely quirky place, with a great atmosphere, and wonderful friendly staff. There was a really wide range of food and a great choice of dishes for our vegetarian son. The choice of teas is staggering. Thoroughly recommend a visit to this absolute gem.
