Great old historic hotel. Situated right in the heart of old Wells fronting on to the market place. Seconds away from the Cathedral and Bishops Palace it's hard to beat the location. Parking can be a bit difficult but the staff are a real help and a paid car park is just around the corner. The Crowns rooms could do with a bit of a face lift but having said that, ours was roomy, clean and comfortable. Great view onto the market Square and Cathedral. Breakfast was brilliant with a great selectinn but the bar meal in the evening lacked a decent vegetable selection and seemed to be rather reduced in quantity. All things considered the Crown is an excellent stop over and good value.

We only had a meal in the Crown and that was amazing. The ox cheek was really good and I can’t say enough about the sticky toffee pudding. We will definitely come back here.

I love this place!! Our room looked down onto the front courtyard. The building is hundreds of years old ( so cool) but they have modernized the rooms nicely. The breakfasts were awesome as well as dinner. Has several areas to sit both inside and out for bar and eating and the hotel and wait staff were amazing! Finally, the location is perfect. Right next to cathedral and Bishops Palace and not too far from bus station. Highly recommend this place.

Visiting Wells and grabbed a sandwich having been disappointed with a.n.other provider locally. What a cracking pub and what a lovely lunch. A little expensive but in line with local pricing. A delicious beef and horseradish sandwich with homemade coleslaw and crisps. Filled the gap, but topped off with a local ale - excellent. Staff incredibly friendly and great fun.

The Crown at Wells is a fantastic old coaching inn. The rooms are full of original features, low doorways, creaking floors etc add to the atmosphere. The staff are brilliant- special shout out to Ruby who gave me excellent beer and dessert recommendations! Its location very close to the cathedral makes it a great base to explore the city from. Reading reviews about the small car park, I chose to park in Princes Street car park, which I could park in and extend the time via the parking app. It's about a 5-10 minute walk away, so if you have heavy bags you may want to try the car park at the hotel. Pretty sure my mid size car would have been fine anyway.

We stayed for 2 nights bed and breakfast. Our room was comfortable with a lovely comfy bed and two camp beds for the kids. The hotel is central and great for a day pottering around Wells. Breakfast was tasty both days and the staff were so friendly and accommodating. Thanks for a great stay and my birthday towel elephant!

Just popped in for a glass of wine and they had a good selection available and the staff were very friendly and efficient. The menu looked delicious and worth a try - another time! It's such a great local that we ended up chatting with two other tables and sharing our Glastonbury experiences - a really nice time! Recommended!

After walking around the town and cathedral a drink and some food was required and was not disappointed in the standard, the pie of the day was excellent along with a local ale kept well. Service with a smile . Thanks

An impromptu visit to Wells on our way home on Easter Sunday, very inviting from the outside , lots of tables were reserved but within 10 mins or so we were able to get a table..we both opted for the pork tenderloin with sliced belly pork crackling, seasonal veg and apple sauce, roast potatoes, a substantial Yorkshire Pud and a lovely flavourful gravy, and a side of cauliflower cheese. The food was hot & plentiful and incredibly tasty. The pub / hotel was busy but staff were very attentive and there was a good atmosphere. Food was excellent and we will undoubtedly return on our visit. A great find .

The Crown is a charming and cosy pub that offers a lovely dining experience. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere, with traditional decor and a welcoming staff. The menu at The Crown is varied, with a good selection of classic British dishes. The food is well-prepared and tasty, with generous portions that are sure to satisfy. Nice veggie and vegan options too, the vegan burger was great. The service at The Crown is also excellent. The staff is friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. They're happy to make recommendations or help you choose the perfect dish to suit your tastes. Overall, I would highly recommend The Crown for anyone looking for a nice pint and good meal in Wells after seeing the local sights
