Can't comment about the rooms as we only called in for a beer or three. The staff were very friendly and attentive with nothing too much trouble. Real Cornish ales very reasonably priced. Whilst there we had a look at the menu, which again looked very good with a price point to match. The beer garden was pleasant out in the sunshine with live music a bonus. All in all, I was very impressed and glad we found it and would definitely return if ever in the vicinity again. If you fancy just a drink or something to eat, certainly recommend it, and if you have a dog, then they are also very welcome.

Called in for lunch last week and it was an absolute delight. A very warm welcome was followed by prompt service and a desire to please. The gluten free fish and chips was the best my wife has eaten, and my burger was excellent. This is a hidden gem, and we will be back.

A great place with a very warm welcome. We have been on holiday and The Old Smithy Inn was yards from our cottage. The food was lovely and the service was excellent. We went for evening drinks, Sunday lunch and also a very enjoyable folk group evening. If we are that way again we will definitely be visiting.

Superbly enjoyable stay at this charming inn. Very friendly welcome from the staff, lovely clean and charming rooms (pleasant view from the Welcombe room). Great food and a good choice of ales and wines at reasonable prices. Lovely quiet location, ideal for walkers. We'll definitely be back and have already recommended to friends and family.

Bank holiday weekend and we needed a place to eat on Sunday evening - a quick Google turned up The Old Smithy Inn and a call reserved a table. When we arrived there was a live music session on the go and the kids found it a bit noisy inside as our table was next to the music, a quick chat to the staff and we hopped outside to a pod. Ordering was easy, food arrived quickly and tasted great. Rattler Cider recommended by the staff was super and I'd go there again in a heartbeat for a meal and the general atmosphere.

A proper pub, a beautiful old Devon thatch set in a tiny hamlet 5 mins off the A39. Off road parking and well laid out gardens with tables and seating lead to steps down to a stone flagged patio area and the main entrance. The interior is still an old style pub, not overly lit with plenty of seating. A wide selection of drinks, local ales as well and a well thought out menu at good prices make the Old Smithy a pub for locals and visitors alike. The staff are welcoming and friendly, our evening was a pleasure. I think there is wheelchair access from the lane onto the patio area! Always call in when we're passing. Highly recommended.

Really enjoyed coming back to the Smithy for a Sunday roast for the first time in some years. I was even more pleased to come after having won the Sunday Roast for 2 competition that the pub ran on social media. The service was very welcoming and friendly, accommodating my 5 yr old son and catering to his needs alongside ours. The Sunday roast itself was very enjoyable. Admittedly we made the reservation at the last minute to arrive for 2.30pm so we were probably the last to be served that lunchtime but we were well accommodated nonetheless. The meat was tender and moist, nice selection of local seasonal veg. We'll be back again! We all had a lovely time, thank you Team Smithy.

Fabulous location, excellent food and a very warm welcome. Close (ish) to south west coast path. Rocked up in our camper and asked if we could park up over night. So long as we had a meal was the answer. No hardship there. Beautiful poached salmon followed by a home made panacotta with almond cake. Good cold cider and beers too. Can't fault them.

Gorgeous decor and ambience, plus the tastiest fisherman’s pie I think I’ve ever had! A must visit if you’re nearby.

Although food can be a bit hit and miss, the atmosphere here is making the experience very pleasant. Visited this place 3 times during a family holiday. Wish there was at least 1 proper vegan option. Still, I recommend a visit

The Old Smilty Inn is a beautiful place with fantastic food and a loveley atmosphere. Only the Toilettes were not in a good condition (paper missing and dirthy). This is something you can improve. The rest was really nice.
