I came across this place after reading the high number of positive reviews (even the 1 negative seemed to be picking at straws!) and thought it would be the perfect place to take the family out for a decent dinner! So the first thing we noticed was the size of the car park, which has ample parking so already a huge positive for those having to drive in from distance. The size of the restaurant is quite big and really well decorated inside with an authentic feel to it. The service really was 2nd to none, the staff were really friendly and were really helpful by offering an insight into what some of the dishes were like. So we ordered our dishes and soon enough we had food on our table, which was a complimentary pre starter! On top of that another round of complimentary goods arrived after our first course! So for now, nothing but praise for the place! So for starters we had the Chicken Momo and Vegetarian Pakado's, which were amazing! The momo's in particular, something that I'd never had before, it was so light and full of fresh flavours with a nice kick to it and the sauce that accompanied it was perfect! For the mains we had the Gurkhali Thali, which was made up of a lamb dish, lentil dish and a vegetarian dish service with rice and puri. I enjoyed both the vege dishes but the lamb blew us all away! It was perfectly cooked and perfectly spiced so not too hot (not that I mind hot dishes) but the flavour was immense! It was just so tasty and if I was too visit again I would definitely order this by itself because it was that good! To go along side the food I enjoyed a nice glass of Indian shiraz, which I'd never come across before so was very impressed to find it here in Wednesbury! Now the only thing that surprised me was that for a Friday night they only had a few groups in with so many other tables free! I couldn't get my head around why because the food, the authenticity, the service, the ambiance, the decor... everything was 10/10 so it would be a crying shame if this place fails to last long as it really is worth a visit! I'm sure 1 visit will be enough for people to want to go back here as I certainly will be heading back soon!
This was our second visit and it didn't disappoint. We took two of our friends to celebrate a birthday, we were seated at a special table with a birthday banner and balloons. We were given complimentary Appetizers, then before our main course we were given complimetary sorbets and then at the end of the meal the staff brought a cheesecake with a candle and sang Happy Birthday. All very nice touches.
The food and service was excellent and we will certainly be returning again very soon.

Just visited and having been Nepal and eaten their many delicacies! I have to say this place is fantastic! Great authentic food, lots of flavour and lots of options to try! Plus very impressed with the little additions included like the sorbet and mini starter! 100% recommend!
Never eaten Nepalese food before, but it was fantastic. Lovely staff, who were very helpful in the choices. The Gurkha beer was a great addition to the food, and we had a great meal. The only thing I can say negative is it is a bit pricey for Wednesbury with the bill coming to £52 for the two of us, it will deter most locals from trying it.
What an amazing place. Food out of this world, staff extremely friends. Went for the hubbies birthday meal with kids and friends. Couldn’t do enough for us complimentary drinks and a surprise slice of cake brought out. Can’t wait to go back for adults only evening!!
Eaten here several times now and the quality of the food has always been excellent. The staff are always on top form always aiming to please. How many other restaurants do you go to where the chef comes out to talk and ask how the food was -most hide away just in case. Thoroughly recommend this to all that want something different.

Food is amazing and the staff are lovely. Complimentary side dishes and the Gurkha beer is great, at 4.8% in a 660ml bottle. Perfect accompaniment. Loads of parking and warm, clean premises. Great place.
I’ve been to Gurkha 1816 on many occasions and it’s always been very good! Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, would highly recommend!

Lovely family meal!! Never tried Nepalese food before but was absolutely delicious with excellent service!! Wine just as good � will deff be visiting again and would recommend to anyone!! ���
2nd visit and we were greeted like old friends, The food is simply stunning, the service just great. It was a friends birthday and without being asked there were banners, balloons and even an improvised birthday cake (the singing during 'happy birthday to you' could have been better but thinking about it that may have been me !) Thank you for a perfect night. If you get a chance to visit Gurka1816 make sure you do it , you won't regret it.

My wife is Nepali and I've been there a few times, the momo is very good.
All food is well made and well served.

Second time visiting the restaurant and we could not fault it! The food is delicious, especially the paneer, the best we've tasted!!.
The staff are so attentive and make the best recommendations for the food.

Thought of trying Nepalese restaurant and it was indeed a good decision. Awesome food. We tried chicken chettinad and tasted very authentic. Staff were very polite and courteous, welcomed us with smile. If you want authentic Indian food then do visit this place. Car park is from the side road. Will definitely visit next time to try Goan fish curry.

Amazing food, amazing atmosphere. The best Nepalese food in the Birmingham area! And so easy to get to, right off the M6 and plenty of parking.
Exceptional food and service. Can’t wait to come back. Considering our normal favourite Indian spots are the high-end restaurants in central Birmingham, this place delivered to a very high quality. Mukhta and the staff were wonderful!
What an unexpected gem this place was!
Our visit wasn't planned, so we didn't book, but they accommodated us anyway. The service was very, very good. The waitress was most attentive. She kept us updated on the status of our food as they were quite busy, so we waited a little longer than expected - which was fine. The food, cooked to order, absolutely did not disappoint. The food was prepped fresh, not oily in the slightest with good sizable portions, and tasted great, really nice.
The atmosphere was very friendly with very attentive staff. The restaurant was clean and had a large car park to the rear.
All in all, it was a superb experience with excellent food. I really look forward to my next visit.
Although it was a quiet midweek evening, we relished our visit - the staff were charming; helpful & friendly. The flavour and tastes were wonderful, delights absolutely! Thank you for your service & culinary skill!! :)
Been here a number of times over the Years but not for a few Years now.
5* Service and Food as always, and the Price increases are not that HIGH, compared to other Places. The increases are very little considering the environment we are in where Food Prices have soared. And the increase is much less a % than most Food as increased in the last 2 Years.
While it may not be the Cheapest place for a Curry etc... you certainly get very good Quality and Service for that Price.
5/5 cant fault them apart from maybe if you are not big on Spice then a number of dishes may be Spicy, but you can always tell them to make it Not Spicy... or extra hot if thats what you like.
Plenty parking spaces at the back of restaurant. Food is absolutely brilliant! The portion is big and taste is authentic to a level that I am telling myself to come and visit again. Exceptional! Do recommend
One of the best restaurants in the area! Amazing food, service and atmosphere! The mixed grill was one of the best I've had! The Gurkha beer is lovely but dangerous! ;)
