We enjoyed an amazing lunch at Chalk followed by a wine tour at the winery. The food was excellent (especially the lamb) though portion sizes are slightly small. The ambience of the restaurant was excellent. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a nice day out!
The setting was amazing and the ambience fantastic. The food was top notch and the wine from the estate excellent.
Even though we were the last people there, we were not pushed out and that was the same time for the meal relaxed and I rushed.
The menu was varied food well presented and the deserts so good we had three between two of us as we could not decide which one to have.
Had an amazing lunch at chalk followed by an engaging tour led by our charismatic guide Candice detailing their winemaking process. Great value for money with the tour and tasting of the wines.
We enjoyed the fabulous Sundowner wine tasting tour and then a great meal at Chalk restaurant
The whole Estate is stunning, the wines are delicious and our visit was made by our incredible host/tour guide Candice. She was so knowledgeable and we all learnt loads but also she was so friendly and open and managed to make us feel like one big group of friends round her house!
Such an idyllic setting, enjoying the last of the summer sunshine with my family in the courtyard. Amazing quality food and a great opportunity to try new wines from the Wiston range…the still rosé paired beautifully with my wood fired lamb on a hot day.
Couldn't wait to go and were definitely not disappointed. An impressive entrance and decor. Brilliant staff and first class service from them. The menu was also impressive and our meals were gorgeous. Would definitely recommend and we'll be back. Thank you for a beautiful experience.
We dined here following our participation in the Winery Tour and Tasting and the food was excellent. Special attention is paid to the provenance of the ingredients and this is reflected in the flavours. The ambience was spot on and the careful attention to detail of all aspects made for a great dining experience.
I visited Wiston Estate with some colleagues last week and had the most amazing experience. We received an incredibly warm welcome and we’re shown around the winery and were able to sample some sparkling wines. Not only were the wines delicious, but the passion and knowledge behind the wines were great and really made the event! We then went on to have lunch in the Chalk Restaurant. Service was on point throughout and the food was exceptional. I would highly recommend a visit if you like good wine and are looking for a nice way to spend an afternoon in a beautiful setting.
We went for breakfast and would 100% recommend! Coffee, eggs benny, cinnamon buns, we all win. The vibe is elegant and quintessential with an earthy twist from the neutral tones. Our waitress was called Megan and she was so happy and smiley and kind and gave her all for us, so sweet and beautiful.
We had lunch at Chalk. Food was great, although portions were too small for the price. Definitely worth a visit on a sunny day. It's also a good opportunity to taste the fantastic Wiston sparkling wines, most if which can be enjoyed by the glass.
Lovely airy restaurant at the winery.
I went for breakfast which was very nice; I had the Eggs Benedict with smoked ham which were good although it was hard to cut the muffin it was on.
Very pleasant and relaxing meal.
The restaurant was busy so I would recommend making a reservation.
We had a delightful lunch at Chalk restaurant (followed by buying the wine and coffee we'd had from the shop!). We had the foccacia, lamb and crispy pressed potato - all were delicious and portion sizes were generous. The wine list is obviously extensive - we had some English sparkling and their first Pinot Noir - again, hard to fault anything. All the staff were friendly and attentive throughout. Would recommend.
Wonderful food, the staff were really friendly and restaurant itself is beautiful. Enjoyed some great Wiston wine in the courtyard before going inside for our meal. Would highly recommend!
Great restaurant for celebrating our wedding anniversay. Locally sourced ingredients expertly cooked and beautifully presented. Friendly staff and warm welcome. Good value. We will return soon. Wine shop on premises an added bonus.
Until the day we ate at Chalk, we were unaware of the restaurant and only found out about it because of some roadside advertising we saw from our car.
We were delighted to be able to get a booking the same day for dinner and had a fabulous evening at the restaurant. The staff could not have been more charming and were happy to tell us all about the winery and its products.
The menu was small, but that's not always a bad thing and the quality of the food for first class. The barn had a great vibe about it and although there were plenty of tables, they were not situated to closely together and the accoustics meant it was not difficult to have a conversation.
Sadly we don't live very close to Chalk, but we will certainly make a return visit it we're ever back in Sussex.
We did the wine tour here and it was so good! Really interesting, the chap showing us around (Calvin?) was really engaging and knowledgeable, plus the tasting element was yummy and inspired us to get a bottle! Restaurant looked lovely as well and we would go back to try it, especially as the setting is so beautiful.

We went last Saturday, our first visit.
Restaurant looks beautiful with beamed ceiling and centre bar area.
Was pleased, as the outside looked a bit stark.
Waitress very pleasant and attentive.
Restaurant filled very quickly and that’s good to see as lots of restaurants struggle at lunch time.
Focaccia was outstanding, the best we have ever eaten!
Had a couple of glasses each of Wiston Blanc de Blanc , which were really good and reasonably priced.
Starters of Smoked salmon and Parfait with Rose sparkling and elderflower jelly were fabulous.
Mains of Lamb and Bavette less so.
Very little lamb on the plate and broccoli slightly burned , not charcoaled.
When you pay £29 it needs be a fair size I think.
Bavette was sadly to chewy for me , but pepper sauce and potatoes great.
My husband ate it.
Plum tart very pleasant but needed more plums on it.
Lemon Verbena Ice cream tasted awesome,
But for me it did not work with plum tart.
Coffee to finish
As lunch came in at £180, I was disappointed that the main courses did not deliver.
We had the most beautiful brunch at Chalk Restaurant on New Year’s Eve.
The food was outstanding (we both had eggs florentine with black pudding), the atmosphere was perfect - clean, spacious and bright, and the team were so knowledgeable and passionate, it really was the perfect way to celebrate the end of the year.
The highlight of the brunch was definitely the sparkling wine, which was absolutely beautiful. My husband enjoyed a glass of the blanc de blancs, and I had the classic 2017 cuvée. I would probably go as far as to say it was the best sparkling wine I’ve ever tasted.
We had a walk around the estate (in the fog and rain) afterwards which was lovely, and the perfect way to round off our visit to Wiston!
The estate is in a beautiful spot with walks in the area. The wine tasting tour of the winery and film were really interesting with plenty of fun facts. The wines were delicious and we all had comments and opinions. All in all it was a great afternoon.
