Second weekend breakfast at The Saxon Mill, first visit wasn’t so impressive from a service perspective though the food was good. A significant improvement on this occasion and happy to rate as a 5. Good service (a table had been reserved), food was good as were the surroundings (and company 😀).
It's a great place with friendly staff and has just got better with a proper vegan menu.
Been today for lunch perfect window seat
Food was delicious just perfect
Would highly recommend to others
Great friendly staff
Thank u xx
My first time eating at the Saxon Mill with my girlfriend, who is a Leanington girl who knows the place well.
I enjoyed my first visit and will definitely return, many times hopefully.
There is plenty of choice on the food & drink menus and the service was professional & efficient, as would be expected from a restaurant with the Saxon Mill's reputation. Our waitress was Katelyn, a lovely friendly girl whom nothing was too much trouble.
We were in Warwickshire for a wedding. I had been to the Saxon Mill before, so I thought that my husband would enjoy the experience. I did think that it would be too crowded on such a beautuful Sunday, but as there are so many tables, we had no trouble getting a table in yhe cool bar area. We loved the setting and the food was good for the price. We both had Sunday roast which was enormous with a generous amount of roast beef. We live outside London and would love a place like the Saxon Mill on our doorstep. We will return if we are in the area.
My son and daughter in-law were married at the Saxon Mill this weekend. What a perfect Job the Saxon Mill did of hosting the service, wedding breakfast and evening party. Everything was absolutely 100% perfect and the attention to detail of Shelly and her staff really was impressive. The food was beautiful, the room was immaculate and nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. The bride and groom and all their guests had a perfect day. Thank you Saxon Mill.
Have been today for lunch and had the valentines menu, we booked on line and asked for a quiet table which overlooked the water (which we got). The food was exceptional, especially the chateaubriand and the service was great. Portions could always be bigger but a lovely afternoon
Treated my wife to a date as don't get much time together so thought we would try the saxon mill and it didn't let us down. The lunch menu was so nice. For a 2 course meal at £12.95 I thought it was a good price. The starter and main course was fantastic. The staff were really helpful. Definitely be going back to try something different.
Excellent food though it's certainly not cheap! I had the steak and lobster tail which was very tasty. The setting is lovely, and it's definitely a pleasant experience on a warm evening to sit outside
Very nice food in a very nice setting. We went a few years ago and loved this cosy and warm restaurant that felt nice but not stuffy. A walk around the mill and riverbank is a must. Food was good and service good enough.
Charming. The Saxon Mill has lots of charm, its setting by the river and weir is wonderful and the spooky old house in the background adds further interest. The Mill has a quaint layout with lots of little rooms and areas, mostly well furnished, and a more formal dining area -as well as plenty of outside seating by the river. The food is usually very good, but it's a hugely popular place and the pub is often packed out in good weather, making food service a bit slow. Highly recommendable, nevertheless.
Very nice food, even if the portions were not overly generous. The location is gorgeous and The service good and friendly. Definitely recommend.
Always lovely. Gorgeous restaurant and setting. Food is consistently good. Owned by the sane lot as the orange tree in Chadwick End which too is excellent.
Stunning setting, wonderful waterside restaurant.. One of my favourite places to eat, especially in the summer when you can get a table outside overlooking the weir. Indoors the place is lovely too. Food's good, imaginative menu and interesting choices. Romantic, picturesque setting, worth the drive out.
I've always enjoyed a meal here. Good decor and fantastic food.
We stopped at the Saxon Mill on a Sunday evening for a Sunday roast whilst we were in the area. The pub had a lovely aesthetic, and ambience, and was relatively quiet for a Sunday evening.
We sat down and ordered using the mobile ordering which was simple enough. The food was very good quality, with lovely tender beef and a nice selection of vegetables. We also had an apple crumble for dessert which was delicious too.
The staff were friendly, but the service was a little haphazard, with things like cutlery not being offered or on the table.
Overall, it was a lovely Sunday roast and I would certainly come back for another in the future!
This restaurant is fabulous we requested a table with a view. This place is absolutely fantastic, great ambiance and the food are scrumptious. Thank you so much for a memorable birthday dinner. Such a perfect place 🤩 Well be back surely.
I wish I had taken a photo of our delicious food but none the less this is a fabulous place to have dinner! A big thanks to our server, Laura, who was wonderful! Even took a photo of all of us for my birthday as I was here visiting from the U.S.
The location is beautiful, the entire staff so friendly and such a gorgeous view to enjoy dinner!
Becky was our server and she worked hard to look after us all night. It was a Friday night very busy, on first visit for 30 plus years, the The Saxon Mill still looks impressive situated right on the river with lovely outdoor seating and a beautiful bridge to wander over. Our main course the lamb was very well presented, but please why so few vegetables. The atmosphere in the restaurant is suberb. We will definitely we returning before another 30 years. Again thank you Becky.
I would rate it a solid 10/10 for the location. It's beautiful with the revived view. Just nice to even walk around. They have indoor as well as outdoor seating. Coming to the food- it was really good in terms of quality, quantity and taste. They were packed the day we went so naturally the service was a little slow but the staff were really helpful and courteous. If you're coming here on a bright sunny day, make sure you make your reservations beforehand. Overall, a lovely experience, looking forward to visit again!
Me and my partner came her for the first time on Friday, we travelled 30mins to come here as recommended by a work colleague.
We couldn’t have left more satisfied, the food was incredible and the cocktails even better! The scenery was also amazing.
We were also given a complimentary glass of Prosecco each as it was our anniversary which I thought was a really lovely gesture.
We will definitely be coming back!
First time here and I can say I had a fabulous time, I have been served by an a professional waiter, he made our lunch very special. Thanks Jack for everything, your service was outstanding.
We're been to celebrate my husband birthday, and we had a private session, the atmosphere was great, so we're pleased.
The food was outstanding specially the fancy cheesecake trio.
I'm happy to return.
What a beautiful location, extremely tastefully renovated and with a working water wheel as an amazing feature 🙂
The menu is quite large which normally worries me about how it can all be fresh but there is nothing to fear here, the food is outstanding. I had the duo of beef roast dinner and the meat was beautiful, so tender and tasty. The roast veg was delicious, no soggy veg to he seen. Portion sizes were good, not too much.
They do a great offering for pudding, a small portion of desert plus a hot drink so you don't miss out but don't feel overfaced.
The only thing that let the visit down was it was very busy and the service fell short a few times but we were part of a bigger group so the delays didn't ruin the visit as we just chatted more. I'm sure on other days their service would be tip top.
Overall still a brilliant place to go.
Lovely place, have been here many times. Beautiful insides and then lovely to sit outside by the water 😍
Food was great, service was fab! Staff very friendly and lovely!
Would definitely recommend if you haven't been, just go 😁👍
First visit to Saxon Mill and wasnt disappointed. Warwick seems to be a dog friendly town - often seeing cafes and stores offering seating for pet owners and water bowls for dogs. Saxon mill was no exception- four legged friends inside and outside of the bar and restaurant. Our server was Jack. Young, friendly, attentive and professional and was very busy but Jack seemed to be floor control so was very much taking the lead. Tully was also busy but a beautiful, smiley and friendly girl who was happy to stop and chat and was also very helpful. Food was lovely, cooked well and nicely presented. We were pleased to be made aware by Jack that there was either bar or table service for dining customers, there was seating outside by the river and also at the front which looked to be a smoking area. He also directed us the the picturesque bridge and walk way to the rear of the building. Overall a lovely experience in a historic building that's also licensed for weddings. We will be planning a function there in the near future.
Always great food. Especially a good Sunday roast. Friendly staff but service can be slow when it's busy
We had a really good time at Saxon Mill at the end of April. We decided this is the place to celebrate our civil marriage and we booked the private room to enjoy with our family and friends. We had great support from Katie to organise the day to our liking.
Food was delicious and we had flexibility with our choices of drinks with the open bar.
I highly recommend this restaurant, not only for private events, but for the great atmosphere, location, food and hospitality.
Honestly the best steak I’ve had out, perfectly cooked, chips were incredible, loved the beef dripping sauce. Our lovely waitress, Katie, made our evening even more special by being so friendly and attentive. Can’t wait to come back!
Great find on Google whilst visiting Charlecote Park as it was 15 minutes away. Great Sunday roast with a lovely view over the mill and even had walking fields to the back of the restaurant. An amazing pub and highly recommend.
A scenic pub with great food and great views. Very friendly staff, a good variety of food and drinks. The food is always cooked well, very well presented and very tasty. The price is ok, I would have rated the food higher, I would say it would be better value for money if the portion sizes were a little bigger for the main course.
Recently had the lamb rump, which again was good to perfection, but the portion size for a main dish was incredibly small.
The staff there are brilliant though and are very accommodating.
Beautiful Sunday lunch to celebrate a birthday, tasty three courses. Vicki was a great hostess too, excellent service and very attentive.
