Excellent food.....beverages...service ...staff..menu....chef....location......if it's dry overflow into the beer garden!
Had the best steak in ages last night at the Half moon, what a way to get my 50th birthday celebrations off in style, my wife and I both had a great time and the food was amazing... The staff were great and nothing was a problem.. Cannot recommend it enough, now need to find another reason to come back and try something else...
Six of us (plus dog) came here for a birthday meal, which also happened to fall on Easter Sunday. The food was excellent and the portions generous. Service was swift and faultless. The landlord in particular is great fun and absolutely made our visit. Nothing was too much trouble. He made us feel so welcome and even gave us a brief history of the village, along with some tips for our stay. We are so grateful to him for the kindness and hospitality he showed us.
I hope one day we can return to this smashing little gem. Thank you again.
Absolutely love this pub. Food is more than average but is superb. Great selection of drinks and friendly service. What more could you ask for!
Great food and characterful pub. Lovely atmosphere. Plenty of seating inside and out. The landlord happily accommodated the need to adapt my menu choice a little and came up with a fantastic lunch for me.
Charming food orientated pub in the heart of the English countryside.
The well set in the floor is a great talking point and a good bit of fun
Had a nice beer here today, whilst walking past and in the area. Had a nice beer selection, not tonnes on offer, but enough to satisfy, had a nice Harvey’s Sussex Best.
Bar staff were friendly and chatty.
Pub is in a quiet location, almost didn’t know if it was open from the front, but nice and cosy inside.
We had our drinks in the back garden which was a lovely little sun trap. Amble seating.
My review is quite simple. This is my favourite pub in Sussex. Me, my wife and dogs have always had the warmest welcome, excellent food and a pint of Harveys. I am so glad this wonderful hostelry has survived the pandemic.
I visited this place for a lunch get-together with two former work colleagues. Good food and good conversation.
Fantastic food. Brilliant atmosphere. A pleasure to bring the mother-in-law back - for the first time in 77 years. She really enjoyed it … but “it has changed” since her last visit 😃
Visiting the area this was recommended because of great liver and bacon, which my partner loves, and it certainly was. Also a generous portion. A lovely "country" pub but not 5 stars from me because of four issues. Firstly, my own venison cottage pie was a rather meagre portion of a great tasting dish. Second, to get in from the car park you have to walk back onto the road to get to the front. This badly needs a car park entrance. Third, the toilets are not actually outside but might as well be as far as the temperature goes - heaven knows what that experience is like in mid winter. Lastly, the 'gentleman' apparently in charge was less than friendly (we were complete strangers) and even turned away whilst I was still talking to him!
Superb food and a lovely pub. We will definitely be going back.
Had a fab meal on Friday evening....
Lovely to see the Pub busy but not uncomfortably so.. We caught up with friends and all thought the food was excellent.... Penny was smiley and serene and the service was seamless.......Jamie was just Jamie....on good form and enjoying a busy pub.....remember to take your muddy boots off and he'll remain that way! They never grumbled when they had to move us to another table because I forgot to mention the dog was with us and we were a bit slow and indecisive too. Always have a good evening when we go.....and the garden's looking lovely.
Lovely menu. Favourite dish liver and bacon. Nice garden for warmer weather. Parking.
Everyone very friendly, helpful and on point with their service.
Food was amazing, best roast dinner I've eaten in a pub 5stars from me.
Great food.
Only one other table occupied.
Where were you all....
Lovely roast dinner, not fatty and perfect veg. The pub is beautifully decorated and really cosy. Definitely be back.
Visited for lunch today had the most delicious 3 course Sunday roast. For starter I had the figs and cured ham salad, for main the rare beef and trimmings (how you can get carrots and greens to taste that good befuddles me!) and for afters sticky toffee pudding.
The food here is exceptional and a real treat. The service is great too, you never feel as though you are waiting.
