Beautiful great big beer garden to sit and enjoy what I would say is the best in Sussex . The food is lovely especially the Sunday roast . On top of this very friendly staff. X
Always a friendly welcome, with great food and a large beer garden for when it's a bit warmer outside. A 'Mad Dog' is my 'go to' for a lunch time treat with a pint of cider!
Went here to have a lunchtime dinner yesterday and it was very busy, ordered and waited about 20 mins, the chef brought the food out and apologised for the wait but we weren't too fussed. The wife had the chicken curry, I had the beef and ale pie and our lad had the burger, FANTASTIC. DEFINATELY now on our regular place to eat list.
Popped in for some lunch. Gourmet burgers were very good. All staff seemed polite and friendly. One member of staff even stopped eating and came to serve me although clearly on his break. Kids meals were good too.
Beers - great. Food- great. Service-great.
Well worth the visit.
Only second time here. Both times have eaten. Food is really good &at a good price..Also it is a dog friendly pub, with a nice pub garden..
This is my second time at this pub and I highly recommend! Great food and great atmosphere!
Always great food at a good price, fast service and you are made to feel very welcome. Offer a good selection of food and large/small portions of food. Home made traditional and delicious.
Over 20 of us came for lunch today. The staff were excellent, friendly and efficient and the food was great! Thank you for doing such a wonderful job!
The hubby and I had a cheeky quick lunch date yesterday. Fab from the moment we walked in, we were taken to our table which we got to choose by a lovely guy, think he may of been the landlord? Asked if we wanted drinks which were bought over to us, took our food order straight away and food arrived within about 15 minutes giving us time to enjoy our surroundings. Left with very full tummy and the food was very very nice. No room for the pudding but we will do that next time.
Thanks for a lovely dining experience. We hope to visit again soon.

Super friendly staff who strive to give you the best experience. The 2 barmaids, present on this visit were outstanding. Priced within the acceptable range for the area...it is definitely a place worth seeking out.

Really nice pub!
Scampi and chips & fish and chips were lovely.
Staff were nice, friendly and chatty.
Locals were lovely too, adding to the overall atmosphere.
Will go back to try more of their food offerings too.
This was my first time visiting The Sussex Oak and it did not disappoint. The pub is cosy and at this time of year has two lovely open fires burning, lending a lovely atmosphere. The service was courteous and friendly. There is an extensive menu and I was impressed with the vegetarian selection. This pub will become a regular weekend haunt for me.
Nice Food served at this Pub. Nice staff working there.
Absolutely wonderful visit to The Sussex Oak on Sunday 19 February 2023. Celebrating with my partner before starting my new job. Matt was lovely, made sure we had the best time while there. Food was great too, we will be back.
Lovely village pub with friendly, welcoming staff, quick service and tasty food. Nice relaxed atmosphere, welcoming to families and dogs, with good menu options for gluten free and vegetarians. Convenient parking right next to the large beer garden, which has plenty of outdoor seating.
Wow, warm and friendly welcoming pub. Very nice , quality food and service. Real village life pub , with all the trimmings. Thank you for a great afternoon/ night.
Highly recommended.
The food was great, all home made, and the service matched.
Dog friendly, they even supply dog biscuits as well

June and the turners
Went for a meal at the Sussex Oak last night to introduce our neighbours. The food was absolutely amazing and although midweek it was not overly busy it was a nice atmosphere.
A well run pub with good food and drinks served.
Today we were celebrating my mate Farley's 7th birthday.
Had lunch a couple of times here. Great food, reasonably priced. Staff pleasant
Popped in here as passing on busy sunny Bank Holiday Saturday and were welcomed and seated with no problem. Food served very quickly, I had prawn jacket potato and my only slight issue was jacket skin was too tough to eat and inside potato a little dry but prawns and salad were excellent. Hubby had ham and chips and really enjoyed. I had treacle tart which was delicious and hubby had apple crumble ( only place I gave ever seen crumble and custard served on a plate not in a dish) which he loved.
Overall very enjoyable lunch in lovely setting. Glad we found it.
Garden is obviously very popular as well as seemed busy as we came out.
Good cheesy chips. Ale selection was average. Good to see Cabin Pressure on the gin list. We'll be back for Sunday lunch as we liked the atmosphere.
Great service, roast was lovely although beef slightly overdone. They cater for gluten free & even do gluten free Yorkshire puddings!!
Excellent meal, very good service with a lovely jovial waiter.
