Reviews The Griffin Pub

I would like to say on reading these comments on here about the Griffin that they are completely false. I have been drinking here for many years and not once have I ever felt that the pub has been or is homophobic. I have plenty of gay friends and we have had many of good night's here with the past and present landlords. I was here on the night in question and did see how the person who got attacked was behaving. The person was very drunk and barging into people, just because that person was gay had no bearing on the outcome. If it was a straight male or female the out come would have been the same. Also which is the most disgusting thing of all is the person was spitting on people so correct me if I'm wrong, no matter your sexuality that's absolutely disgusting. The pub as it stands at the moment has a very good management, staff and I would recommend that the posts obviously from this person's friends not put you off coming to this pub that does there utmost to make U feel welcome.

Recently visted this beautiful little place while away with my family. Highly recommend on arrival, I was welcomed by a lovely young lad. I think his name was Russel? Me and my husband really enjoyed are meals, the food was tasty. Really enjoyed the fact there is a pool table so after our meal we enjoyed a few cheeky games of pool with a nice cold pint. This place is a little gem and we will definitely be back again :)

I've drank and eaten in the griffin many times and found the staff and landlord at all times polite and very professional. If people were not there to witness the situation then to it comment as it's peoples livelyhoods

Visited randomly on the way home from a day out and was really pleasantly surprised. The place is nice inside and the staff were really friendly and welcoming. We had table service for both food and drink, both came out in good time after ordering. We ordered Gammon, egg and chip plus the starter of Chicken strips to come out at the same time. Pretty standard pub food done right. No complaints at all. There is plenty of parking here and outside seating. We'll definitely have no worries about stopping here again.

Came to Sunday lunch at the Griffin recently after not having been for many years. The lunch was absolutely lovely and really good value but the standout for me was the amazing staff. Nothing was too much trouble and the two landlady's and their staff were just a brilliant example of what, every pub wants in their team but not all achieve..warm friendly interested and funny. We didn't know anyone at the pub when we arrived and I rerely leave reviews but left knowing not only would we return but would warmly reccomend this venue .Thank you to everyone who made our lunch really special

Enjoyed a lovely carvery meal for the whole family including kids and babies to celebrate my son's birthday. Really excellent value for money and they catered for gluten free like myself and grandson, we only missed out on Yorkshire puddings, stuffing and green beans, the cauliflower cheese was gluten free so really happy as I love that. Children Enjoyed their meals too. Will definitely be coming back.

Went today on a whim and was warmly welcomed by the front of house manager Kallie, who checked reservations and was able to promptly provide a table for us. Bar staff were polite and informative about drinks and food, we had the carvery which was cooked lovely. Meat tender, veggies good selection and seasoned well. Charlene the overall manager was very attentive to us and other customers and made sure we were served and taken care of properly. Good value for money and a great local atmosphere, would highly recommend. Thank you to all the team.

Amended from 4 to 5 stars. Visited today for lunch. All meals were well portioned, out in a reasonable time for those prepared in the kitchen. I had the carvery and couldn't fault it. Return visit 23.7.23. Retaining 5 stars. All staff were polite and courteous. The Carvery was excellent. We managed a dessert this time. Sticky toffee pud with custard was 👍 👌

Sunday carvery is great value for money with a nice choice of veg. It's now our first choice for a Sunday roast, after being disappointed at a number of other local establishments

Not such a good experience as on previous visits., obviously have changed hands! Very small menu of which I decided on fish n chips which came with peas. I ordered two slices of BREAD . My meal arrived promptly, nice and hot. My bread arrived disguised as two huge seeded burger rolls. I asked if I could have them changed for bread ,he said sorry but no we ain't got bread

I won a carvery meal for tonight. Not been in for a while but it was very very good. Hot food, hot plates! No over cooked veg and lots to choose from. The gravy was very tasty as well. I had their veg option which was very nice. The rest had meats and thoroughly enjoyed that too. Would definitely recommend. Well earned 5 starts

Nice, friendly atmosphere. They like to put music on, which is really good. I suggest going on march 18th 2023 for a amazing singer Beth. Rising star.
