Went here for brunch today. It's a good old fashioned greasy spoon cafe unlike The Apollo which is a bit more upmarket however the prices and portions are spot on for an old school cafe. The main brekkies come with tea or coffee and toast 👍👍See menu pics. It was clean and bright with light decor which makes up for the long narrow shape of the seating area with till and cookery at the back. Service was quick and efficient and the food was good standard fayre. My one criticism which I could argue away is that the smokers sit right outside the front door at tables and on a warm, windy day like today the smoke smell blew in to the eatery. I recognise that having the door open allowed airflow but maybe the seats for the tables outside could be arranged differently, for example, along the edge of the table furthest from the door as it's clear the solo occupants sit with their back to the front window holding Court. Obviously the outside tables increase capacity and are a form of advertising but in these days of fewer smokers it might be something to bear in mind.

Been here several times. As someone who is a little fussy when it comes to food I really enjoy it here. Nice selection of dishes, always clean. Staff are always nice and friendly. Reasonably priced as well which is a bonus. And on Saturdays there is a market set up in the square so after a little browse this Abbey cafe is good for a bite to eat.

You wouldn't expect much to look at it, however the service is exceptional and the food is well cooked and presented. 2 sausages, 2 bacon, 2 eggs, mushrooms, beans, 2 bread or toast, a coffee and extra black pudding for £6, you can't go wrong.
