Fabulous food great portions staff friendly fast service would book table as get very busy
First time we have visited here and wow what a lovely old fashioned pub. We was lucky to get a table as I've seen in other reviews that you should book in advance. But we chanced it as we was passing.
We had the Sunday lunch and omg they dont scrimp on the portions ... beautiful and quick service too...

Visited for first time today,had lunch. Very cosy pub,authentic,friendly staff,good food. Had tomatoe soup and Jacked potato. Will come back again soon!
P.S. plenty space for parking! Nice garden/outside seated area.
I had the pleasure of attending The Black Swan in Nazeing for their Halloween Party last Friday. While I didn't have the opportunity to try their food, I found the pub to be a cozy and inviting place. The quick and friendly service was a definite plus, making it an enjoyable experience overall. If you're in the area and looking for a relaxed atmosphere, The Black Swan is worth a visit.
Such a wonderful treat, the service was as warm and enjoyable as the food. Didn't think the Sunday roast could be topped until the sweets hit the table. Amazing Great selection of beers. Looking forward to our return visit soon.
Went for lunch, didn't book a table but definitely will next time. It was really busy but the staff were excellent at dealing with all the customers. The food was really good, I had the steak and kidney pie, new potatoes and vegetables, my husband had the mixed grill. The price's are very reasonable and will be definitely going back again.
Gavin and the team were amazing to hold my dad's wake. Were friendly and accommodating as always and the food was great.
Great old school pub. Good range of beers and amazing tasty food. The staff are helpful and friendly. Great spot for any occasion.
Just had Sunday roast here. Really, really good. And the desserts were equally delicious (lemon meringue pie deserves special mention!). Highly recommend!

We booked our mum's wake here.
We didn't know what to expect as we'd never visited this pub.
Wow, Val & ĥer team really made us feel welcome. The food was lovely. We had an area to ourselves. Service was outstanding. Thank you so much for making this a great memory at such a sad time. Would certainly recommend A**.
A delicious lunch today. We didn't know what to do with our day off so decided to visit as we hadn't been in a while. As always the service, food and prices didn't disappoint. I'm looking forward to trying the bacon and onion pudding next time.
I had the small plate option of steak and kidney pie with mash and veg, even that was big!

If you haven't been for a Sunday roast here you really are missing out. The taste the portions the service all first class. Oh and a great pint of Guinness as well.

The Black Swan is one of my local pub and it's perfect for a Sunday roast. The portions are more than decent, the service quick and efficient. We had the Sunday roast, turkey and beef. It did the job, I completely forgot to take a picture it was that good!
What I like about The Black Swan is that it doesn't pretend to be something else but what it is and it makes it so comfortable and nice to go to.

The home made food is outstanding and we received the warmest welcome and service on arrival with hardly any notice!
We had the whitebait and soup to start followed by a trio of lamb, beef and turkey roast. Although in a food coma it was impossible not finish with a lemon meringue pie and raspberry & white chocolate torte for desert.

This is a quant old English country pub the owner,s are friendly with a good sense of humour sunday roast is very good indeed other dishes are excellent but be warned you,ll need a good appetite to go for the sweet trolly. You will need to book a table most of the time.
