Lovely quaint little cafe in a picturesque location in the town centre. I had afternoon tea with my daughter there today. Food was plentiful, delicious and freshly baked. Quiche was to die for. Lovely & friendly staff. My daughter even commented how the bathroom was even pretty! Found a gem here. It beats a chain cafe any day of the week. Highly recommend and will definitely go back. A must to stop off at next time you are at The Abbey 😊

Excellent venue for lunch. We were travelling home after a weekend reliving 1066. We decided to stop at Waltham Abbey to see Harolds grave and skipping lunch we stumbled on the gatehouse on leaving the Abbey. We were starving by this time and the kind gentleman fed and watered us.....we did see a macdonalds in the area but thought better if it when we found this gem! Quiche and salad yum yum....healthy and filling alternative. As we are both straight back to work today we decided to buy our pack up for the morrow as we wouldn't have time / too exhausted to go to asda. So to say I'm satisfied with the gatehouse is an understatement! ! Couldn't of worked better if we planned it......fabulous an excellent service.

Popped into Waltham Abbey and saw this place. Immaculate with a great location. The breakfast was high quality locally sourced produce, cooked to perfection. Lovely staff too. In fact, I enjoyed it so much, I took home a breakfast for my princess!

This is a most delightful little cafe at the back of Waltham abbey cathedral/church. Well decorated , lovely friendly staff food is excellent . It was hot today , though there is no where ideal they managed to have 3/4 tables outside . They have a clean toilet . And every time I go walking through Lee valley I end up here .

We love coming here for coffee and food... This time we turned up late as they were just closing... Desperate for coffee they kindly accommodated us which they didn't need to do. Really nice venue and great views of the church

Lovely friendly place for a hot drink after a walk around the beautiful Waltham Abbey Gardens. Here's the view from the wall outside the Café. Delicious drinks and snacks safely served through an open window.

Found this cafe on the extra mile site. What a find! We had breakfast sandwiches and tea and took a big lump of bread pudding for the journey. Very nice food and a fair price. Nice location, went for a short stroll through the Abbey gardens. They obviously have lots of regular customers, always a good sign. Very friendly staff. Would most definitely recommend.

The home from home. My husband and I have visited regularly over the past few years. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is welcoming and cosy. I have a ‘fussy taste’ and there are vegetarian and vegan options. Highly recommend a visit.

It was very busy when we visited and as a result, service was slow. However, when the food did arrive, it was very nice and I would recommend The Gatehouse Cafe if you are in the area. Nice location next to Waltham Abbey church and gardens.
