One of the nicest fish and chips I've had in a long time. The portion was really generous and the fish was beautiful. Me and my friend both really enjoyed our chips well. It was also great to see lots of gluten free options available! I will definitely be returning.
We celebrated my sisters 60th birthday meal on Sunday, and it was lovely. 25 members of our family. Sat on 2 long tables , it was very spacious, the food was great . Thank you to the bar man for taking a family group photo. One to keep and treasure. Thank you, we will be back. Chris Mck.
Really enjoyed our visit, the cask beer was excellent and great choice to include local Great Newsome beer. Our lunch was superb, I had home made steak pie and home made chips which was definitely the best I have had for a long time, my daughter had the fish which was also excellent. We were luckily enough to attend on the last day of the beer festival and had the chance to sample an extensive choice of local beers too. Service was great and friendly and the establishment was spotlessly clean. Great traditional surroundings too. Highly recommended a visit, we will be back soon too.
Good food and lovely staff. Beautiful clean pub. However, it would be better to take orders at the table as the bar gets busy with drinks orders.
Only moan it was really hot in the pub no open fire or anything. Windows didn't open, so couldn't cool down so had to go outside.
Took a friend for afternoon tea. The food was delicious. The service & staff were exceptional. Would definitely recommend. Far too much to eat & they gave us boxes to take home the food we didn't eat. As much tea or coffee that we wanted. Well look after. A lovely birthday treat
We visited for as a family of 9 adults for Lunch only, on Easter Sunday 2024 (afternoon). The service from the staff was great and absolutely fantastic food, delicious! Spacious settings for the tables. Definitely recommend.
Attended a function here. It was a very nice buffet. Staff really nice and engaging. The only thing I am raising is the event room was cold. By the time it did get warm the event was over! 🙈
BUT! Would it stop me coming back? No it wouldn't. Further more, walking through the other rooms, the food being served looked excellent and I want to return and try it for myself.
Cakes and desserts on the bar were shouting "Eat me!"

We were a group of 10 for Sunday lunch. The food was excellent as was the service. Our party's ages ranged from 70 to 5 years old and every one of us agreed that we had thoroughly enjoyed our experience.
It's a top pub for local ales and fantastic home made food. All the staff are really friendly. If you've stumbled across this review looking for somewhere to go, this IS the place.
Good hospitality and gluten free
Went for breakfast today, took our 14wk old puppy who was given an affectionate welcome.
The breakfasts were very tasty. The pleasant surprise for me was as a gluten free diner most eateries omit the gluten containing food, charging the same price. Not here, they increased the portions of some of the other food items as a matter of course for the same price.
