EDIT: since the review we've been contacted by the manager and have been invited back. I have to say that this second visit was night and day. So so much better than the previous visit. The cheese sauce was lovely and thick and full of flavour, only complaint there was we ran out and still had more bits to stick in (but that's not really a complaint). The staff were really nice. Thanks to Kev for inviting us back, we're so glad you've taken the feedback on board to make sure nobody else has a similar experience. We shall definitely recommend this place.
I've attempted to contact the restaurant but no response.
We visited on Sunday 26th June in the early evening to celebrate my partner's 25th birthday (even specified in the booking). When we arrived we got told that because you were close to closing before a renovation that you were out of a lot of items which is understandable and fine. They had what we came for anyway. The one thing we were looking forward to was your steak fondue. We'd seen photos of a lovely thick cheese sauce and lovely bits of steak. Unfortunately what we received was far from it, the cheese sauce had a thick layer of oil on it and was very watery and looked like it had split. It tasted fine but not as we'd have imagined. The steak which we opted to upgrade to ribeye was very underdone. We asked for medium rare and the vast majority of the pieces were rare with some blue. We flagged both these issues to staff. The cheese sauce issue they said they would tell the chef which we heard nothing more. The steak issue they offered to take back but by then we'd have eaten the rest and not want it so just opted to eat it. I'm happy with rare and blue steak but my partner isn't so it ruined her experience.
Overall we were left massively underwhelmed by something that we'd looked forward to.
The welcome was warm and friendly, this was our first time there for a date night. The manager said we wouldn't be disappointed and certainly wasn't. The starters were so delicious, the mini yorkshire puddings were so light and fluffy the beef melted in your mouth. The calamari was cooked to perfection and loved the lemon flavour within the batter. The main course of Chateaubriand sharing steak was to die for. Cooked medium rare and it was the nicest steak we have had, the sides and sauces complinlmented the steak beautifully. All in all 10/10 from start to finish. Compliments to the kitchen team for cooking gorgoeus food and compliments to FOH team for delivering excellent customer service. We will certainly be back again.
The food was amazing the staff were really lovely they were very attentive and caring.
They also had a very good diagram of a cow and where each part of the meat comes from within the cow
Absolutely amazing, from the manager Tom to the staff, the whole experience was perfect and as for the food, WOW, from the starter to the Steak - Chateaubriand main, I can not recommend this steak house highly enough. #Fantastic
Had a lovely meal at the Cut for my birthday, all of us enjoyed the meal and thought it was great value for money. The only thing I would change is the peppercorn sauce. We all found it a little too strong and overpowering but appreciate this is down to personal taste! Will definitely be back :)
Amazing.
Went today as we were looking to go out for a 'Sunday dinner' - something we never do.
Ordered the giant Yorkie and it really was amazing.
Staff were great too.
We ordered nachos as a starter which we ate outside and could have done with cutlery and side plates for those but minor
Booked in for Christmas eve eve with my family after hearing good things about the Cut. We weren't disappointed! The food was amazing and excellent value with the 20% off early bird offer. The only problem was my Fiances steak was a little underdone for her liking but this was quickly sorted and a complimentary drink was well received so we can't complain. Would love to go back in the future for more great steaks.
First time here but would definitely recommend it. Not the cheapest but food was lovely. Steak was very well cooked and the sauces were extremely tasty. We shared a range of starters between us and they were very nice. A small place so you probably need to book. Give it a try.
Amazing lunch we had the share platter Sunday lunch for 2 and I can't say one bad word about any of it. The creamy cabbage was to die for the 3 meats tender and juicy we had a little wait for our food but didn't mind as they were very busy and it was all well worth the wait,1dt visit to this restaurant but certainly not our last, all the staff were lovely friendly and welcoming see you again soon and thanks for the best Sunday lunch ever!
Fantastic fine dining. Food was amazing, can't fault it at all. Highly recommend the Cut Wings for starters: amazing flavour. Had the ribeye steak when we first went, it was cooked perfectly. On second visit had the lamb which was incredible, amazing flavours all round and cooked perfectly. Service from waitess was second to none, especially because she was on her own. She dealt with everything we asked for quickly and professionally. Highly recommended!
Very friendly staff, great service, really nice venue, stunning food! The best meal we've had in Wakefield. The chef eve took time to come and ask us how we found the meal and showed us some of the clever gastro tricks he'd done with the food. Will be taking our friends and family here for sure 👌
