This is the pub next to the Premier Inn on Calder Park. It's a new build, but with the combination of using old recycled timber beams and the blend of decor it is really a nice place. The beer is good and the menu comprehensive. I didnot eat but it was a Saturday night and busy which was good because you have to drive to get here. Worth checking out.
I've just found this place. We go here for a working lunch and its great. It looks like a chain pub, its big enough to be, but it doesnt feel like it inside, which is always a bonus. We go for work but I can imagine it being great for families or weekends.
The food was great, cooked really well and just tasted fantastic.
The staff were really friendly and polite.
Generally a great pub.
This place is nice, great atmosphere but the food took very long to arrive at our table, staff was great, food was quite disappointing I ordered medium well done fillet and I got a rare steak. The lady who helped us (Tracy) was super helpful and very nice!
Lovely country style pub with easy access from junction 39 of the M1. Food is nice, though menu can be a bit limited. Children are welcome (during the day - can't comment on evenings). Sunday lunch is nice but busy. Service is generally good but can be a little slow when really busy. Lovely pub.
Been to the Red Kite a few times now. Its cosy and warm feel invites you in. The staff are really friendly. The food is very good and you get lots of it. One of my fave places.
Fantastic time at The Red Kite today. We took our 9 year old Labrador with us and the staff were so friendly and welcoming not just of us but of our dog also. They have a dog friendly area near the bar with an open fire, water bowls and blankets and a doggy menu. The food was amazing and didn't take very long to come. Great pub especially if you are looking for somewhere to come for a meal with your dog. We will be back again soon! :)
The Red Kite is beautiful inside, very warming, and there are plenty of places to sit.
There were 2 reasons why we only gave a 4 star, which were Service Speed and Price.
Service was a little slow, and we did end up waiting for a good 20 minutes before we got any orders in and over 45 minutes for the food to arrive.
We went on a Sunday (See Sunday Menu Picture)
The prices are quite expensive in comparison to others around the area, you can make your own judgement.
The food, though, was cracking! (See pictures)
I ordered the Signature Burger with halloumi as extra. It was juicy, succulent, and mouth-watering.
The plate of Sunday dinner was from the kids' menu, with a great portion size.
The other meal pictured was pie of the day (ham and cheese pie)
All the food was decent. You do get what you pay for here, but you will need to dig deep in your pockets.
I would recommend coming here for special occasions.
*Top tip* If you download the Vintage Inns app, you can get £20 off your first meal.
Served by Jay, lovely lad and very personable.
The roast dinners were fantastic, my partner and son were super impressed.
The chicken I had was okay but a kind of dry.
Not sure if it had been left to cook for a little too long, super crunchy and not much sauce.
I'm not a chef though, just a dude that eats at places.
It didn't need to be a sloppy, greasy parmo to grab a 5 from me but, just a little bit more moisture and it would have been bang on.
Went with a friend for an evening meal, was lovely atmosphere. Claire served us and she was so lovely letting us know all the info we needed/asked about the menu.
Food was lovely had the pie, steak and merlot with mash, veg and loads of gravy. Delicious!! Followed by the lemon tart which was also super tasty. Thanks everyone at the red kite.
I've been before and will be back again no doubt about it.
Enjoyed delicious sirloin of beef for Sunday lunch & a super tasty banoffee pie for afters. You can never go wrong with a Vintage Inn and our server, Claire, was lovely and helpful. Great location too, as not far off the motorway for a half way meeting point.
Lovely food, friendly service. Had the 3 course lunch offer.
I came to the red kite last Saturday at around 6pm and was greeted by lovely members of staff. My server, George, was friendly and very accommodating to me and my husband. He was kind and patient with us, as well as being quick on his feet to bringing us refreshments and our food. The food was fantastic as well as the drinks. I ordered the Chicken Smoked Pancetta Pie and it was beautiful, whereas my husband ordered the burger and chips. Clean environment, food was delicious, and again I cannot thank our server, George, enough for being a wonderful worker. 10/10 experience!
Spent valentines evening here for a nice meal. There was an offer on for a three course menu.
This is a nice rustic old English pub, warm and welcoming with fires burning and woodern beams and old photos of the local area.
The menu was good with plenty of choice, the food was delicious and well prepared. Drinks selection at the bar was vast, no shortage of choice.
The restaurant is much bigger than it appears hosting a large number of guests. The waiting times between courses was quite long but the staff explained they had last minute staff shortages.
Considering it was valentines and the place was fully booked, and having staff shortages the service was great, very friendly, not stressed, and the food wasn’t lacking in quality or cooked in a rush. Well done to everyone.
Can’t wait to come here in the summer to enjoy the large outdoor area.
Enjoyed family meal, nice food, but service was slow. Good job. We were not in a hurry.
We were served by Chloe today..her professionalism, politeness and attention to detail was superb. She really made us feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble, she even bothered to check if everything was ok with our meals and if we needed anything else. The atmosphere in the Red Kite is really homely and welcoming with a family run traditional country pub feel to it. The meals were well cooked as always as well as ample and delicious. Great for families and couples or just a group of friends out for a meal and a drink in a relaxed and non rowdy environment. Would definitely recommend and will be returning soon👍
The service and the atmosphere were great. Nice garden area.
I enjoyed most of my food but wish I had chosen something else instead of the Haddock Kedgeree Fishcakes.. I think they need looking at. 🙊The Paté was beautiful though.
Will be back.
Jay serving us today was fantastic. Very helpful and kind throughout and made the experience better for the 2nd time coming here. Great food as always especially with customer service. Thank you guys once again.
Came in for a birthday meal with my family on the 8th. Staff were lovely! Veronica, Lesley and Chloe were so amazingly friendly and kind throughout my stay! The food was incredible, so many thanks to Chris and Charlie as well! Lovely place! Would definitely come again!
Happy quiet family pub for breakfast and dinner.
Very attentive staff.
Lovely eggs Benedict and amazing Sunday roast.
Roasted beef was quite thin (like ham) and a bit dried out.
Back for another dinner. Gammon steak was slightly on the salty side but still good. Chicken and mushroom pie was amazing.
Desserts were all great ! The banoffee pie was all into details.
Never been disappointed, food very good along with pricing. Lesley served us again today she is always very pleasant and extremely helpful. We have been going for several months and never been disappointed. The log fires are most welcome on a cold day, give it a try you won’t be disappointed
